I got in late, was given a room key. Opened my door to find 2 people on one bed and the room a mess. The clerk fought with me saying there is no one in that room. Then offeres me 3 beers, 2 random bottles of water and one can of coke to be happy. I denied all offers and went to my new hotel room. Which smelt of garbage and had the smoke detector ripped from the ceiling. I could go on and on, especially the DIY home repairs that the maintenance guy cleary YouTubed to learn how.
The room was a non smoking room. However the smoke smell was prevalent in the room. There was a very strong cleaning smell in the room.
We usually have good experiences with days inn. Not this one. The rooms were poorly maintained door off hinges, bed broken, oven in suite did not work. Cupboards broken. Hallways dirty. Poor lighting. Heavy chemical smell. Elevator not working when we arrived. Friends non smoking room was smoked in. When we called to ask to have things repaired when we were gone for 6 hours it was not done. Lots of apology words but no corrections or reduced rate. We checked out and found a different hotel for our second night in Grand Prairie. Steer clear of this one travellers.
I haven't quite figured out the negative reviews to this place. Whoever is in charge is obviously trying hard to accommodate their customers. The rooms are spacious and clean. They have a DVD lending library for goodness sakes! I haven't seen one of those in five years. The breakfast was great and included some out of the ordinary items such as spring rolls and actual salad. For the room rates charged this is definitely the best value I have found in Grand Prairie. And it is really difficult to find a decent place in Grand Prairie. Would recommend. Will visit again.
Ordered three kinds of pizza- pepperoni, meat lovers and hawaiian, potato wedges, three pop, and 20 honey garlic chicken wings with three sauces. Meal ready in 20 minutes and great service. Had a little fun as I wanted to spend $73 at Pizza 73. Our server played along to make it a fun experience. Took it home and ate it hot! Everyone agreed it was delicious!
The hotel is in a quiet setting off the beating path which makes it a little more relaxing in my mind. The staff are very helpful and willing to help a person out with their questions or needs. I would suggest this hotel to anyone, and actually have to some of my co workers who have also stayed there.
I have been here a few time is the last but I can say it's going downhill. First impression that the parking lot is full of gravel. Of you have bags with wheels you may ruin the wheels because of this. I travel for work and my rooms are prepaid. It is normal that hotels swipe a credit card for incidentals but this hotel actually pre-authorises $250 per night. I complaint about this and they still charged $100. I was told it will be cleared as soon as I check out. I checked out 4 day ago and I still see the charge on my CC. The room could use some TLC. Holes in the walls, paint and drywall tape walking off the ceiling in the bathroom, window curtains ripped up. All this and they wanted $250 a night for incidentals, what a Joke! This may have been the last time for me to stay here unless the owners start to reinvest into the building and comfort of its guests.
Housekeeping entered room with no indication during my stay. Email sent to the hotel but no one ever replied to explain my issues.
We were in town for our nephews graduation. The hotel was easy to find and very quit when we came in. The rooms were clean and roomy. Wifi was awesome not one problem. They had complimentary fruit and doughnut holes all day long for guest to help them selves to. My kids really enjoyed that and also the game room I think table hockey is their new favourite game. My only complaint would be the throw pillow size pillows the bed are not very comfy to sleep on.
Newer hotel, but unfortunately has fallen into a very shabby state. Location is terrible, right beside a double lane overpass with heavy traffic makes for a sleepless night..poor oversight!
