Days Inn Grande Prairie2.5 out of 5.0

Selected this hotel due to its location to our office in the industrial park. Quality of the workmanship in the rooms is poor, tile without grout, a small and poorly built bathroom counter. The internet worked sporadically and was quickly overwhelmed when more residents arrived and checked in. Breakfast was low quality, dry muffins, some kind of egg thing that was tasteless. Staff were present, but never said hello or smiled. Overall an experience that I would pay half of what I paid for this hotel room.
basic and reliable what more does anyone need - not my first stay won't be my last good value for the price and purpose
This is the best Days Inn I have ever stay in! The breakfast was the excellent and the chef should be complimented on her selection on the menu!
I think that the building in starting to have some serious structural issues. Wall cracks everywhere. Parts of the building are patched up with putty and paint. In my room there was a constant crackling noise inside the walls. The bed was very uncomfortable and not even level. I did not have a good sleep for 2 nights. On the plus side, the free breakfast is very good for what it it.
Great place to stay, on the North side of GP. Rooms very clean, front desk staff are great, breakfast was fine, love the bacon. The servier gets a special nod for keeping up, preparing meals, staying on top of clean up, always busy, always attentive.
I told myself I would snag the first hotel I saw though technically, because of how the road is set up, you actually need to drive past the hotel before you can drive up to the parking lot (does that make sense?). It seemed pricey when I first approached the front desk but with a small deduction coupled with the long drive, I wasn't going to argue. Check-in was smooth enough but after stepping into my room, the price did not jive with where I was standing. They like signs at this property because there is a full size kitchen stove with a sign that reads, "NOTICE OVEN IS OUT OF SERVICE". Okay, I wasn't prepared to cook my Christmas ham in the room but it begs the question, why don't they just repair it? The sign on the bathroom door is truly unique and in my years of working the road, I have never run across it. I noted the wording, "Water supply of this room is undergoing upgrade so that it takes about few (they missed the 'a' in this particular note) minutes to get hot water. Please put it on the hot water until it comes out. We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused." Different properties deliver hot water variably and some take longer than others. Had the note not been there, I would not have even noticed the time it took to get hot water. Yes there were a number of cosmetic issues in the room but depending on the age, I tend to not worry as much about that kind of wear and tear. However, the stains on the bed cover where very noticeable! It is difficult to feel the bed sheets are truly clean when there are noticeable stains as you walk up to the bed. Morning was another surprise. I had neglected to hang my "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. There was a knock on the door and as I was just getting ready to have my shower, I quickly responded to the knock by shouting hello from my side of the door. The lady asked if I wanted the room cleaned and I stupidly said yes! Wait, I DID want the room cleaned. I figured I would have a quick shower and then track her down in the hallway. In case you are wondering, the hot water came out of the shower head almost immediately. Ain't that the way? You go to the trouble of writing a sign for a problem that no longer exists. By the time I was in the hallway, the house cleaning staff had exited. I imagine it is much quicker if you don't actually need to enter a room. Okay, so no one died but, Days Inn gets a top dollar for their rooms and there are other properties I have stayed at nearer to the airport that are on par with this hotel and they are half the price. And, they clean the rooms every single day! The breakfast is well done and although I rarely take time to sit and eat at any of the hotels I frequent, the smell of bacon rising up to the third floor hallway was very close to drawing me in. I left the parking lot this morning thinking, "There is a definite need for some love to be sprinkled at Days Inn Grande Prairie
Nice Clean Rooms. Pleasant helpful staff. Try to stay there whenever I'm in Grande Prairie. Wish there was more room for parking tractor trailers. Have not been disappointed with Days Inns in Alberta.
I've stayed at this hotel 6 times in the last 4 months, as a backup when my preferred Wyndham Hotel is sold out. This hotel is in dire need of repairs. Carpets in the lobby and rooms are frayed and pulling apart; baseboards are ripped off; shady cracks in the paint throughout; stains in the carpet. A good clean would go a long ways; take a look at the check in counter and all the dirt/dust/neglect. Parking lot is usually full, time to start investing into your property.
Rooms are fair size, the internet is slow at peak times but the breakfast makes up for the properties lack of pool.
My Room at Super * was messed up and I had to book at Daysinn and the guy at the front Desk was a great help . Thanks to him my day when a lot better.
