My first visit to Gothenburg. The hotel is in walking distance to downtown where the real life is. It is an older hotel as I heard but inside you can't feel that. The room was clean, the breakfast was absolutely perfect. There was everything, you name it...
I arrived at the hotel mid afternoon. I had booked the two nights using Lastminute.com and on my arrival, they seemed to be missing the reservation information. Off to a shaky start I thought. But after 10 mins or so, my details had been put in manually t the system and a room was allocated. The room was comfortable and although I like a firm bed, the soft bed was like sleeping on a cloud and just about the best hotel bed I've slept in. The pillows were equally terrific. My room was on the interior of the building looking onto an open area for natural light. It was very quiet and a good nights rest was assured. My only criticism is that the room did not have any heating controls, so, whilst I found it comfortable, I could see how a colder person would need it hotter. But again, just a minor issue. Breakfast was very good, lots of selection, eggs, bacon, fruit etc. Would I stay again? Yes, I probably would. It's different from all the large chains like Marriott, Crowne Plaza etc etc, quaint but nice. It's also in a good location and just a very short walk into town along the canal. All in all, a good visit.
This is a strange review for me as I can't really fault the hotel at all. Breakfast was good, room was good, but the staff although friendly keep their distance and don't really interact. For example, no doorman, you don't go past reception when you enter the hotel, so there is no personal contact. Location is good, just wish it was more of a place to stay
Nice hotel, very helpful staff we didn't like our initial room as it had no exterior window and were moved withinin minutes, very central, very quiet, great breakfast. Advertise they have a gym but a couple of old machines, they also offer free use of gym in high street, very busy.
If you go for the queen size double - they are small however perfectly fine for a weekend break, as you are barely in there. Very nicely designed and clean. Location is great you are walking distance to everything and tram to the port to go to the islands is just outside as well (2mins to the right out the door) The breakfast was incredible - everything fresh and tasty. Crowded at peak hours but that is nothing specific to this hotel. Only downside (not for me as don't drink hot drinks) but I could see it would be annoying is that hot drinks are not served to the table but at end of room so that area got very crowded. Overall great place for weekend stay in Gothenburg and has a pub downstairs for a night time drink.
Great Location, Great Rooms. Really Good. Even as a Family Traveler or a Business Traveler, you will enjoy this hotel the fullest. the Pub Bishop Arms Just under the Hotel is Amazing too. Surely Recommended.
Lovely place to stay, centrally located and yet very quiet, smooth check in, spacious room, clean. Very attentive service, they prepared the bed for the night, put small rug besides the bed and a cognac with chocolate on the table- very nice touch. Good breakfast buffet with fresh fruits, pastries etc.
Very nice hotel in the down town, close to everything, beautiful building, spacious rooms, quiet and clean. Very nice touch with cognac and chocolate in the evening. The breakfast was good with good variety of food- good start in the morning. Appreciated late check out.
Stayed for a few nights while sightseeing. Room was a bit on the small side, but very well presented with large comfy bed. Beautiful decor made the hotel feel a bit special. Breakfast was buffet style, but superb quality and tended/refreshed constantly. Perfect location for walking out round the city. Would happily stay here again.
Stayed here with my daughter for a girls shopping spree and to visit the wonderful Christmas market in liseberg. The hotel is in a fantastic location, very convenient for the shops. The room was lovely and quiet as we requested. We loved the breakfast buffet and especially the kaviar dispenser! Would buy one for my daughter as Kalles is her favourite. Overall a lovely trip. The only part of the hotel that was looking a little tired were the communal areas upstairs which could do with a lick of paint, but would stay there again.
