The Beachcomber resort is in a great location , very close to the beach , all the shops and arcades. Public transport is in walking distance (lightrail trams ) . I felt it was good value for what we paid for where we were. The apartment definately is due for an upgrade. All facilities were on hand ,airconditioned, well equipped kitchen , bathroom was a little pokie as you had to share bathroom area with a washing machine , dryer and laundry tub. You did have to supply you own dishwasher and washing machine detergent. It does have an inside heated pool which was nice ,games room and gym. In saying all that i will stay here again on my next visit to the Gold Coast.
I work in the Travel Industry and I made booking with my hotel partner for my own holidays. I arrived late on the day and I sent a notification in Excite Holidays booking system. When I arrived, the front door was shut. No staff! There was a phone number on the door, which I called. It is an offsite staff who answered like a messaging machine. He said "if you booked with an outside agency, you have to come back the next day during business hours". I was in shock! He refused to pay any attention of how we were to spend the night outside. I could not believe it. I thought whether you are offsite or onsite, you are to represent the owner and management of this hotel. I finally met a security gentleman, who performed the task of a Concierge perfectly. He went to an outside safe and opened. Voila! my key and pass was in an envelope. All this was done without any communication to us! I went to talk and give feedback to the reception desk the next morning. I was offered no apologies, but a blame that I did not leave a phone number! Sorry, I booked with Excite Holidays, and this is never a requirement. Mind you, I am a travel professional. Thanks but no thanks. Never to come back here again. Other points that you guys need to consider: . breakfast rate was paid, they give us a "voucher" to be used in a nearby cafe. We can only have egg and bacon on toast. Nothing else. How can you survive this after 3 days? . Our room was old, with crappy furniture. . Wifi and the gym are good . location is good
If you are thinking of staying here. Don't. Room was absolutely horrible. There was mouldy ceiling fluff that looked like stalagmites. The bed springs were shot. The mouldy grout in the bathroom was horrible. The view of the ocean was non existant as the window was disgustingly dirty. The kitchen was the size of an infested pimple. On the up side, the foyer was very nice. Maybe should have spent more money on the rooms and less on the foyer. I should have slept in the foyer. Very, very disappointing. If you want to enjoy your stay on the Gold Coast, stay somewhere else.
Room 2006. 20th floor. Good quick checkin and staff approachable and friendly. Beautiful views from room to beach. Great location in the middle of surfers so shops and eateries near by. Room is terrible...we did get a bargain at 80 per night but i would still expect amenities to be clean and in good repair. See photos of carpet, lamp, cupboards and bathroom. Would consider staying again only if it is a refurbished room and wouldnt mind paying more if rooms are refurbished. This feels like a step back in time. Booked via booking.com.Stayed 2 nights.
We spent 2 nights in an excellent room. The apartment had a great view and everything inside the unit was very good quality. Service at the front counter was also excellent with friendly helpful smiling staff. Thank you Beachcomber we had a great stay and will certainly be back.
-I arrived at 450 due to bus being late from airport, reception was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Was told to go to the safe box to collect my keys. -I got up to the 1 bedroom apartment trying to connect to the internet due to me being “ late arrival “ I could not connect that night -couch worn out and not very appealing to sit or lay on , left over food on it -every time I had a shower my feet would have a bath -there is permanent residence here and I was next to someone who was allowed to smoke cigarettes in their apartment -my bed was 2 single beds put together , I was staying a lot so for that I was sleeping on a single bed for 3 nights -felt like I had to wear shoes when walking inside as the carpet and tiles felt and looked dirty -not very sound proof , could hear everything outside - blinds were broken in room for sun to come in as soon as sunrise -only good thing was it is a good central location with a very of the beach I would never stay there again!
Dear All, My family and I stayed at Beachcomber Resort Surfers Paradise for a total of four weeks and I can honestly say from the moment we walked arrived till the moment we departed we have never been more pleased with the onsite staff/management, resort itself and the facilities available. The room we stayed in was very modern, clean and had exceptional views of the beach, city and river. Works are underway to modernise all three lifts with one completed already. I would like to stress that Beachcomber Resort do not manage all apartments onsite hence the reason why you will read some unpleasant reviews from people who booked through an external agent/manager. I would recommend booking your next holiday with onsite management.
I stayed in a self-serviced studio apartment which had good city views and ocean views but apart from that everything was run down. The place was pretty old compared to what they charge per night. Shower - not working properly. Bathroom - Taps were broken (Asked reception and got it fixed the same day) Singled Bed - Completely broken. Had to sleep for two nights on that broken bed which gave me back pain later on. Asked reception to change which they did, but they send another broken one. Had to sleep on the floor for two nights. Electric Appliances - Kitchen - Two out of four electric plates did not work. Carpet - Completed worn out and very old. Very unhygienic especially when you have a kid. Room Space - Overall too congested.
Everything was really dirty to begin with. The reception was hardly ever open which was a major inconvenience when we had to complain about no hairdryer, the fridge not working, the power sockets not working. The room was nice, great view, although the sheets had the feeling that they hadn’t been washed recently. The bathroom was a bit rundown. Paint peeling and general old feeling. When we complained about the room to the service desk the lady seemed unleashes and asked why we hadn’t come down earlier, we then explained that the reception was never open.
We made a booking late one night through an online booking agent & were not sure we had secured the rooms as it was peak period & almost impossible to find joining rooms anywhere at last minute notice. This prompted us to call during business hours the next day to confirm. We were then told by the manager that there was no booking under our name they didn't have any rooms available so it was never an option. We understood this to mean that it was never a transaction that would be processed & moved on to find alternative accommodation. Upon receipt of my credit card statement the following month I see a charge for the rooms & when I challenged this they simply told us that we were a no show & 'Too bad so sad' & still refuse to refund us the money they stole.Despite telling us they had no booking for us & there was nothing available anyway which is the only reason we went elsewhere! They are liars & cheaters!!!
