The only good thing about this place is the proximity to the beach. We paid extra for a luxury studio room and it was a total waste of money. The bathroom was a disgrace, paint peeling, door lock was broken, no water pressure in the shower and the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. The reception was already closed when we arrived at 6pm and they sent the wrong instructions on how to obtain the keys from an outside wall safe.
Pictures on website did not reflect room at all. Rooms are “individually owned”, however there should be some level of upkeep and maintenance. Lobby was tidy, however upon leaving the elevator the floor hallway smelled. We paid for a room with “ocean views”, however the only ocean we could see was a tiny portion though buildings, out of a dirty side window. Blinds were broken and curtains too small. Sliding door to balcony was broken. Some issues were fixed during our stay however we were not informed someone would be coming into our room at all. 1 roll of toilet paper provided and expected to pay for extra. No room servicing, floors were dirty and expected to walk our own rubbish down to the basement. Previous guests dirty tissues and used soap left in bathroom. Bed was uncomfortable and fan above bed signalled imminent death when turned on, around the base it was falling apart on to the bed. Air-conditioner in bedroom not working properly. Overall, less than impressed with our stay however location was perfect and parking was free. Won’t be staying here again.
Room 1604.. Booked with Agoda First night woke up itchy from the bugs scrummaging up and down the wall / through-out the bed.. We've been on holidays now for a little over a month and this wasn't our first stop which is why we booked a room which was promised to have the listed facilities such as a washing machine (doesn't work at all - will upload video on youtube when I return home).. Sure I can use a laundromat but I chose to pay for a hotel that listed in room washing machine so I can start my washing in the morning and hang it up on arrival without losing time. Also listed was kitchen facilities and the only pot/pan provided was smaller than the size of my hand (pictured). These items we brought to the attention of the reception ladies this morning who seemed lovely and helpful. Sadly upon our return, this seems to be more of a facade as nothing has been fixed. The washing machine is still not operating at all, no lights, nothing... And I still dont have any Pots or pans to be able to cook a simple pasta dish for myself and my partner making this a very expensive stay in a very poor room. 3 stars is 3 stars, but I expect things listed like kitchenette and washing machine to be stocked / in good working order. This is night 2 of 9, we'll see how we go tomorrow bring these issues up once again.
Highly recommend to not stay here at all. It’s expensive for what it is and disgusting. Stay anywhere else but here and make sure you read lots of reviews before staying here! Here is the list of things that were wrong with the Beachcomber Resort: • Free movies and normal TV didn’t work until someone from ‘maintenance’ came to fix it 3 days into our stay • Washing machine didn’t turn on and was broken for our entire 10 day trip and we reported the issue several times but nothing was done • The sheets, floor, curtains, walls and windows were really dirty. Used tissues and underwear were left in the room from previous people • The room we were given looked nothing like the pictures, it was very run down and had zero kitchen facilities. • Two singles pushed together when it was supposed to be a king • Slow wifi and it kept disconnecting • Leaking/dripping shower • Very few cutlery and plates etc. We ended up buying our own plastic cups, plates and cutlery because the few we had were very dirty • Only 2 rolls of toilet paper for a 10 night stay • The entire building (not just our room) was very very run down • Toilet didn’t flush properly • Reception staff were unhelpful, not pleasant to deal with and they had no idea what they were doing which was why our complaints didn’t get fixed in time • Reception just closed when they felt like it, some days more than 3 hours early when they were supposed to have set opening hours • Curtains were not wide enough so bright sun would shine through in the morning • Were had to use the guest laundry in the basement of the building and one of the machines was out of order at the time • Air condition unit leaked water all over the floor • Vacuum cleaner was filthy and full of old dust and rubbish • When we were checking out we were forced to take out our own rubbish and do all our own dishes with the little cleaning facilities provided
The room had many issues from mould throughout the bathroom so bad it was a public health issue, the shower door was broken off and left next to shower against wall, curtains were broken and one thrown in corner, TV did not work, carpets stunk, dishes in cupboard were dirty, balcony door was broken and would not slide, and fire alarms were broken / missing. Had to disinfect and scrub bathroom and deodorise carpets myself to be able to even stand being there. Property managers claimed they did not know unless someone complained or cleaners raised issue - hard to believe considering state of room. Don’t stay in 1506!!!!!
Had a great room, fantastic views, didnt have to use the car.Room is a bit old but,bed and lounge were comfy.sheets a,,towels and toiletries provided.Unit was clean and tidy, full kitche, large bathroom with seperate bath
Looks derelict and old. There was no toilet paper or hand towels. There was no smoke detector. Looks nothing like the pics on the internet. We purchased paper plates and plastic cutlery because I was too scared to use what was here. The mattresses were shocking. Feeling ripped off.
Dont stay in room 2506, very dirty room, dirty ripped curtains, broken shower tap, broken shelf in kitchen cupboard, leaking fridge, dirty clothes left in cupboard, only one dinner plate and one fork, dirty stained coffee mugs, cockroaches in bathroom, and dust type bugs on tables and bed. no rubbish bin in room, and you have to get rid of rubbish your self. If you run out of toilet paper, soap shampoo, tea coffee etc you have to pay for more.If you want clean towels,,or a pool towel you have to pay. The spar was also closed. Very disappointing.
Such a shame that this hotel occupies one of the best spots in Surfers Paradise. The location is literally the only thing going for this place. The hotel is very run down and in need of a huge upgrade. Everything looks unkept and dirty. The hallways stank, like someone had been smoking and excessive air-freshener had been sprayed. I think it depends which room you get at this hotel, and depending on the owners what the quality of your room is. Unfortunately for us, our room was terrible! The room smelt so bad of cleaning product, I instantly got a headache. I don’t know if anything was actually cleaned however!! The air conditioning systems were so filthy, thick black dust covering. The balcony door didn’t fully close, and the lock didn’t work, only the deadbolt on the floor which left the door cracked open. The king bed, is actually two singles pushed together so a big lump through the middle of the bed. No side lamps. 1 standing lamp in the room positioned away from the 1 power plug in the room. The curtains were filthy. The cold tap in the bathroom sink didn’t work, and leaked a black liquid (advised reception who said “yeah okay will let maintenance know”). Lucky we were only there for 1 night, if we had booked for any longer we would have checked out and booked another place. Like I said, great location and free parking. Wouldn’t recommend for any longer than 1 night. Smelly, dirty and rundown!
We all know that the Beachcomber is not a 5 star hotel but a 3 as you loudly proclaimed to all guests in reception. But certain things like air conditioning in December in Queensland should be a given. Not a perhaps or if we feel like it. I suggest that you have a check list for every room when one guest leaves. Is the air con working.? Does the stove work. Does the TV work. Seems simple to me. That way as you again loudly said to all in reception you won’t have people coming constantly complaining to you all day.
