I've stayed at this hotel 3 times. Its very straight forward, A super clean hotel room with firm beds, just steps from all mayor transportation and attractions. The staff are always nice and accomodating as far as they possibly can.

This is a nice older, but very well kept, hotel. It is just a very short walk to the train station and just a little longer to Lake Geneva and all the shopping anyone could ever want. Our only complaint is that, while our room was comfortable, it was pretty noisy because it was right above the street.

Hotels in Geneva can be very expensive this was a great value and the staff was first class.

The stay here was not the best. The only thing good here was the location. the elevator could barely hold 2 people. the staff was not knowledgeable about anything going on around in the area so you are definitely on your own. room was very small, about 3 x 3. would not go back for sure.

The hotel is very close to the train station, which is only on stop away from the Geneva Airport. That was very convenient to be so close to the airport when I had an early morning flight. The hotel gave me a train pass, so I could get to the airport without paying for the train myself. The room was small but I expected that for a downtown European hotel. It was comfortable and clean. Walking distance from many many shops, bars and restaurants. Near the river, so walking around was pretty and pleasant. Only downside is that their wifi did not work at all inside my bedroom, so I had to stay at the lobby to use it.

Small, cozy, the breakfast delicious, worth of this additional 10 CHF. However the rooms besides are very small, no air conditioning, too hot. Thanks for ventilators in the room, helps to survive.

Room was not ready when it was supposed to be. The women at the counter gave me a parking discount ticket as if to make up for it, but this is something they give everyone. Also the road in front of the hotel is closed, making it difficult for me to actually figure out what's going on with my GPS. Customers should be notified. The room was just a basic room with a bathroom and no AC, just a fan. What bothered me most is there were no electric outlets in the room outside of where the fan was plugged into. ( I found none anyway) so you either die of overheating or have your phone die. So I had to charge my phone in the bathroom where the hair dryer was plugged in. Lastly, the wifi was pretty much non-existent. Hardly worked for me at all. Not sure if this is normal for Geneva, but this is a one star hotel in the United States.

Nice room but little, the city to hot and just a small fan in the room.

The location, price, cleanliness, etc were all on par with the price--good and reasonable. It was easy to walk to touristy locations from the hotel. The free breakfast was a nice extra touch.

I spent a weekend (2 nights) at Hotel Excelsior in Geneva. The location is great, within walking distance of Gare Conavin. Being in downtown, there are a lot of shops around. Lake Le Man is not far, either. Room (I booked a single room) is small but that's standard for Europe. Cleanliness is highly satisfactory and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the WiFi connection in my room is not good. Overall quite a pleasant experience.

Pro's: Close to the train station, shopping, restaurants and many other things in Geneva. The guy at the front desk was extremely helpful. Very unique hotel. Con's: Street noise and lighting was definitely an issue in Room 10, elevator noise and water pipe drainage from elsewhere in the building was also an issue.

I stayed at the hotel on the night of 16th August and left 17th August. My experience was terrible as I have never encountered such a bad staff (worst staff at the reception I have ever seen as the person was in the morning shift) at the reception, bad rooms, bad facilities. The entire experience was worst I have ever experienced.

Very friendly and helpful front desk. I stayed two nights. Clean but small room and bath. Excellent continental breakfast. Comfy bed. Excellent location - not far from the main train station, down the street from Geneva's largest department store and not far from the old town and Lac Lemon. Sound proof windows for quiet sleeping. Overall very nice, not spectacular but pleasant, clean, good location and friendly, Good value.

I stayed here my last night in Europe after 2 weeks traveleing on business. 5 minute walk from the train station in a very recently renovated building. Everything was very neat and clean. A rather basic room but to be expected for the price I paid. Bonus was a major grocery store right across the street (Manor). I was too tired to think about finding a decent dinner, so went to the grocery store. They have a wide variety of basic groceries and carryout food as well as a fully stocked chocolate shop if you need to take something home. One down side was the internet was a little slow.

The Hotel offers a broadly decent service but in overall it is closer to any two star hotel and it overpriced for the service you get. Positive: It is very well placed, it offers a rather good wi-fi internet service and you always get the local transport card for free which is very convenient. The brakfast is included and it is decent. It is clean and the personnel is very kind and they are always ready to help. Less positive aspects: Single bed rooms are really small. I had the feeling that it was bumping on myself all the time. Very few wall outlets; it has no Air Conditioning and even one may think this is hardly needed in Europe, i can tell you it was really hot. Rooms are equipped with a small ventilator and I did use it all the time i was in. Bad: separating walls seem to be very thin. I was lucky not to have very noisy neighbors all the time but when i got one that could not live without TV it became really annoying. Dont go there without earplugs... I would recommend it for a short stay and if you are out most of the time.

Hotels in Geneva are not a bargain in general but this one has all it needs for the short-term traveller: central location (3 min walk from Cornavin), clean, spacious enough rooms, good enough breakfast, very helpful staff and free wifi. No frills, no disappointment!

We stayed at the hotel for one night. It was in a very accessible location to everything happening in the Geneva and is a 15-minute bus ride or 10-minute train ride to the airport. The hotel staff was kind, rooms were clean and the bathrooms were good. Our room included the continental breakfast which was ok for what we paid, but nothing to talk about.

Depending on purpose this hotel could be great usually on business I select known options but I was alone visiting for business and meeting friends and this was a very pleasant surprise. Centrally-located, excellent friendly staff people, good breakfast not great I missed more elaborate offerings of salmon, veggies, and fruits but over all a nice small (my room a bit snug for more than one person) attractive even charming establishment in a modern metropolitan w old world euro package. Personally loved it!

I stopped in Geneva making my way through Europe, and I'd say that the Excelsior was a wonderful place to stay for a night or two. It is near the main train station, and not too far from the airport. Nothing was wrong with my room or the service, it's just not somewhere I would stay for a long period of time. I would stay again!

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was good. The croissants are especially good. The hotel is very convenient to the train station and to Old Town Geneva. The Manor department store is across the street.. They just put in a coffee machine but there is no soft drink accommodations in the hotel. Street noise is very prevalent through out. If you are looking for a small , accessible place to stay with a friendly atmosphere this is a good location.
