This place was not the 800.00 a week we paid! Anytime we asked for amenities like towels or toilet paper we were met with hesitation! No blinds on the door and housekeeping never came for days! Don’t go
This place looks much nicer than on the website pictures. Hotel inside and out needs updating. Very rundown. Hallways and main entrance areas were very dirty. Carpets in terrible shape. Pool area also needing upgrades. Hot tub barely bubbled. Our room was clean but poor workmanship on any repairs done in the past. Service was ok. Restaurant has the best wings. Could be a beautiful property if updated.
I personally would not recommend for a wedding. I had too many issues with the Resort 3 months leading up to the wedding day for my daughter. There was no consistency in pricing with the venue or booking the rooms for the out of town guest. This had to be monitored all the time. The guest were being quoted 3 different prices when booking. I was supposed to receive invoice in August and after numerous emails I finally received it 3 weeks before wedding. The night before and day of we had to constantly go looking for staff when we needed something as there was hardly ever anyone around including at front desk. The morning after some of the guest ended up just leaving their room cards on front desk cause no one was around to check them out. When I went to check out of my room the girl working was walking around talking on her cell phone about dogs and never once put her cell phone down during checking me out. Didn't speak to me just kept talking on her cell phone. The only thing I was 100% satisfied with was the food. The Chef did an amazing job and I was more than happy to let him know. I'm just really happy it was me dealing with the Resort and not my daughter. I would not wish the stress that I had to deal with on any bride.
Stopped by for supper, I ordered vegetable stir fry, wife fish and chips with rice instead of chips. After quite a wait, and we were the only ones in the restaurant, food arrived. A good deal of the stir fry sauce had been splashed around the rim of the plate - poor presentation. The taste was OK, but the meal was small - lunch size, had to have a sandwich when I went home. The batter on the fish was extremely thick and hard, editable. Once the fish was peeled it was quite good though. Small portion of rice, again like a lunch menu. Wait time - other people had arrived and we noticed that they were asking where their food was. We fouind out later that one table had waited over an hour.
Comfortable well equipped room and friendly service, but the best part were the walking trails along the river. Great activity. We skipped the buffet breakfast. Looked good and reasonably priced, but more than we needed. Very good stop while in transit.
Very pleasantly surprised (for the reasonable price) of the quality/comfort of the room (good bed, ample room, coffee maker, ironing board/iron, hair drier, decent-size soap rather than then usual skinny worthless offer, free local calls/WiFi connection, individual temp controls), handicapped accessible guest and meeting rooms, Coin-op washers/driers for guests, restaurant, take-out pizza service (even with gluten-free and vegetarian options!), pool, fitness center, tennis courts (even with FREE use of racquets/balls!!) shuffleboard, basketball hoop, horseshoe pit, ice machine. Would be a great place for families with the ample grounds for play space and many recreational activities. The super tranquil setting by the river (you can walk out on a dock) and trails for walks are very appealing.
We stayed mid September. It seemed a sleepy hotel so we went to town... got back and the bar-restaurant was hopping!!! The room was basic, clean and great value. I would recommend as a good solid value that might be the place in season!
Lovely property on the river and the grounds are well tended. The resort is very tired inside and out; needs updating. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Pet friendly. Great seafood chowder in the restaurant and Marie, our server, was lovely. Overall, would return.
Looks like they are renovating the exterior and hopefully the interior is on the roster as well. Very dated rooms. We just needed a place to crash during our road trip to Halifax and the price was right, so it was fine, but given the location, this place could be a real destination.
I stayed here in early September and had an ok experience. Here are my thoughts: Pros: Staff was friendly, location is beautiful, price was very reasonable Cons: Although staff was friendly they weren't very knowledgable, they seemed confused on simple requests and were extremely slow in the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant, the food was below average. We had the burger and nachos with a few drinks. The food was really dry and not flavourful. Also it took almost 2 hours by the time we got there and left, extremely slow. Finally I was there for a corporate retreat and the place was very poorly equipped. I called and asked for some tape and a pot of coffee and the front desk were very confused and hesitant to help. The place is starting to show its age as well, and could use some TLC. Overall it was an ok experience but I wouldn't really recommend this spot. I would like to give a shout out to Marc, he was very friendly and helpful and seemed like the only employee there who had a clue what was going on.
