    A wonderful week in Florence Italy

    Our wonderful visit to Florence, Italy, began when we entered Ponte Vecchio Suits apartments in an historic section in the heart of the city. Unlike a hotel room, once you enter the apartment, you virtually on your own. But fortunately, our apartment was rather large and comfortable. The ground floor consisted of a living room and a dining area with a closet opening into a kitchenette. The new air-conditioning unit was readily seen. There was a staircase leading up to the loft bedroom and bath. Upstairs had ample closet space and the bathroom was quite nice and to equipt with new fixtures. There was a surprise a washing machine available for our use. The decor was simple. The old brick walls gave this apartment a great deal of character. The apartment provided the basics, but unlike the hotel, when you run out of something, you have to supply it yourself. That would include soap, toilet paper and shampoo. There is no maid service to provide new linens and towels each day. All in all, the only draw back was the bed and pillows. The mattress appeared to be old and soft and the pillows, were incredibly lumpy. Spencer 60s in Florence actually enjoyed our stay at Ponte Vechio Suites.

    The location is the best, unfortunately when we got there there was no blankets so we slept one night without them... hot water was available but I have to call the manager to learn how to turn in on... overall was ok for the money you pay... off course there is room for improvement.

    Apartment was in a perfect location to walk around Florence's tourist district. Very secure and check in arrangements were easy and friendly.

    Spacious secure apartment in great area

    The communication before arrival and check-in was very smooth - once we’d realised that there was a dual numbering system for residential and commercial properties- probably worth mentioning in the check-in information. The apartment is in a quiet, secure building (four keys to get in) with a lift and air conditioning. The pictures on the website are a true reflection of the property and it feels very spacious. There are plenty of good restaurants, bars and shops nearby and all the sights of Florence are within walking distance. So, why not a 5 star experience? The mattress was really saggy, lumpy and uncomfortable, leading to poor sleep quality for both my husband and me. The bed linen was also worn, poor quality and in need replacement. Whilst the kitchen and bathroom were clean; the floors and surfaces were dusty and smeared. Bearing in mind the hefty cleaning charge the property should be thoroughly cleaned between rentals. With a bit of extra care this could be a perfect property.

    Underwhelming

    Upon our arrival, the owner had misplaced the key to the main gate into the building, and (fortunately) by pure luck someone already in the building was able to let us in. But this meant we were more or less trapped in our room and could not leave until the property personnel brought us a new key 4 hours later. One of the biggest problems was that the air conditioner was so weak and did not cool the upstairs whatsoever, so we resorted to sleeping on the main level. It was dirty, despite paying a 50 euro "cleaning fee" - couldn't walk around without shoes on otherwise your feet would turn grey, mould in the bialetti, mould in the washing machine, mould in the shower... The whole upstairs smelled of sewage. It's a shame, this property has so much potential, but the owners just really seem to not care. I would not return here, certainly not in the summer time. The only thing bringing this property from a 2 to 3 stars is its location which is walking distance to all main attractions, restaurants, as well as the train station.

    The apartment is a small, tidy space of Florentine style, and in a great location. However there were some minor drawbacks. First, the 50 euro cleaning fee is a rip off. No one comes to clean for you during your stay. You are just paying for the cleaning they do to prepare the room for you. Second, the air conditioner is weak and the upstairs gets and stays hot, so be warned...Florence has pretty hot summers and you don’t get a break from the heat in this place. Sleeping on the couch next to the AC unit would be more comfortable, I suppose. Third, we had a light burnt out in the bathroom so getting ready in the evening was kind of a pain. Fourth, the guy who waits for you to arrive seems like he doesn’t really want to be to be there and doesn’t act like he works in hospitality. At first we thought he could be a scammer. But he’s not. He’s just a little odd. Over all tho, it is a good place to stay and for the good location (Oltrano), it is a very good deal. They just have to work out those 4 issues and the place will be a solid 5 stars.

    This apartment is in a great location and the view from the window was really beautiful. It truly feels like a home away from home in Florence. The only complaints that I have are that the communication with the owner was not great, we didn't know if we would be meeting them or the specifics until one day before the check-in. Be aware that there is also a 50$ cleaning fee (we didn't see it on the page, but it's there). The cleaning was being finished up when we arrived, even though we told them well ahead of time when we would be arriving, and it was done very poorly. The floor was dirty and there was dust everywhere. Overall, great location and apartment, and having a kitchen is great, but communication both between owners and guests and the owners themselves should be improved.

    Tolle Wohnung mitten in Oltrarno

    Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit und das Appartement sehr genossen! Aufzug und super Lage mit Supermarkt ums Eck, alles fussläufig zu erreichen. Netter Kontakt und Aufnahme durch eine sehr nette junge Dame. Auch sonst alles unkompliziert, man fühlte sich wie daheim. Das rustikale Ambiente der Unterkunft hat uns sehr gefallen, Klima war zwar nur im unteren Stock zu spüren, aber mit geöffneten Fenstern ließ es sich herrlich schlafen, auch bei über 30 grad Außentemperatur. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!
