I usually rely heavily on TripAdvisor reviews, but I have to say- this one led me astray. The good: +staff were nice +beautiful view from terrace +there is a lift (sometimes in small, European hotels there isn’t one!) The not-so-good: -was initially hard to find (luckily taxi driver knew reception was on the second floor of a building with poor signage) -bed was horrible/uncomfortable -did not appear very clean (paint was chipped all over the room, dried red nail polish (or what I am hoping was nail polish!) was dripping down the front of the desk, towel rack fell out of the wall multiple times, overall very dingy looking -hair dryer was broken (multiple holes in tubing) -when I arrived, there was something that looked like an air freshener sitting on the desk, which didn’t surprise me as the bathroom smelled like sewage. On my second day, I asked why there was an air freshener in the room- turns out it’s for mosquitos. Would have been nice to know that as I was covered in mosquito bites the night before because the room was so hot I slept with the window open! -room was facing Cavour street and was very loud- woken up multiple times at night -when I went to check out, apparently a marathon had taken place that morning (for sure my fault for not knowing that). However, what upset me was that there was no signage in the hotel at all in the few days I had been at the hotel saying that all taxis and public transportation was shut down for the marathon. I’ve never been to a hotel that didn’t have signage about disruption in public transportation before an event (and I have traveled throughout multiple countries all over the world during several events). The lady at the front desk did try to call a taxi, which was helpful. What was not helpful- the taxi never showed up and I had a half hour walk in the pouring rain and missed my train. -Bed linens were old, warn and tattered. -breakfast was not included (although this was not an option that it would be available on the website I booked on) Overall, I was extremely disappointed on my stay based on previous TripAdvisor reviews. Would absolutely NOT stay again.
We arrived like 2pm at the hotel. It was near the city and if you choose to commute the hotel is near to buss stations and 10mins walk going to Duomo cathedral which you can start your tour. The hotel is eco friendly which you can notice particularly at the bathroom. Although we did not get the free breakfast, but still a nice and accessible place to stay.
The location is very good ie close to the core of the city. They are excellent in taking care of your car (€26 per day). The rooms are spacious. The beds and pillows - average. The room had a full access to a private patio area.
The number one best thing about this hotel was the view, it took my breath away every morning and evening when opening and closing the curtains. The second best thing was how central it was, such a perfect location and short walk to everything that we wanted to see. The hotel itself was very clean and staff were very friendly and kind. I loved the eco-friendly side of the hotel and the quirky art. The bed was very comfortable and shower was powerful. We didn't get the breakfast but I am sure that was great too. No complaints for this hotel, I would definitely recommend it and if I was to ever return to beautiful Florence then I would stay here in this lovely hotel.
Only 5 mins walk from the Duormo, close to buses and taxis, and many restaurants and cafes. The rooms are very clean and bathrooms are spotless and fresh. This hotel has character and the reception staff are friendly. Had breakfast at hotel on one morning - generally a good choice of foods and fresh juice too. Pancakes and omelettes are made in machines. Loved the funky picture frames, pictures and wall murals. A fun and quirky place to stay and with a small old style lift.
I was there a year ago, as a solo traveller. The room was really clean and comfortable. Also I had a tiny balcony with a spectacular Florance view. If only the room wasn't too small, but it's enough for one person nonetheless...
I am a teacher and just returned from a European trip with 26 students and 4 adults. This was our first stop and it was a perfect little hotel. It was centrally located and accommodated us beautifully. Our students got a taste of the local culture by staying in an authentic city hotel. The breakfast was wonderful (and believe me these girls can really eat) and the hotel is filled with artwork made by - I believe - the owner. The roof top terrace offers a beautiful view of the city and the Duomo. This is not a luxury hotel but we didn't need luxury. If I was traveling on my own I would feel fine staying here.
The good- hotel was placed perfectly to walk around and see all of Florence and for €26 they parked the car so didn't have to worry about that. The receptionist Tony was very nice and explained all on arrival, loved the quirky lift and most of the art.The bad-The room was clean albeit very tired, furniture I think came straight from a house clearance and maybe some of the quirky art could do with updating and not very comfortable. A bit over priced as well.
I stayed here in 2015 and again this year 2017. It's a little gem not far from all the action. I'd say about 6 blocks from the Duomo. I love the grass root art. The owner was very nice. It's very clean and welcoming. This will also be my stay next time I come.
Until my last day in this hotel everything was ok. The view from the terrace was amaizing, the breakfast was okeish but this is not the reason why i am writing this review. In the last day of our stay, in the day we had our flight, i didn't find my wallet with all my documents and money inside. Lucky me i had my passport with my boyfriend. I told the people from the reception but they told me maybe i misplaced it but that was impossible! The night before as we came into the room i took money from my wallet and let it on the table . We just left the room to go to our parent's room for an hour and came back to sleep. The next morning after breakfast when we were making our luggages i realised my wallet was missing! So an advice for everyone don't leave your wallet even though is in your own room!
