Stayed here on a cash + points stay. It was definitely worth the stay! As a platinum member got upgraded to the Palazzo Vecchio Suite! Really appreciate their time to walk me through the restaurant and the room itself. Just magnificent! Location is very close to the train station. About a 10-15 minute walk. Walking to the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio is about 15 minutes. Not too bad of a walk. Would stay here again!
From the moment you step in the door expect to be pampered. The staff is attentive, the location is in the center of the old city, on the Arno river. Rooms are decorated in classic Italian design. A true gem.
Firstly the St Regis has I believe some of the nicest staff in Florence that I have experienced. Everyone is friendly and very helpful without being too 'in your face'. Nothing was too much bother and the butler service to the rooms was excellent. Our room was beautiful with the walls and ceiling being covered in fresco's which made us feel like we really were special. The bar service was impeccable as was breakfast. I will go back!
We are Starwood members and decided to stay at the St. Regis in Florence. What a great decision. The hotel is in a great location to put on your walking shoes and get to see Florence. We were upgraded to a suite with butler service. It was very nice. Shoes shined, shirts pressed, coffee and pastry's in the morning. The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Lunch in hotel was grand and the food was superb. When we go back to Florence this is where we will stay.
Stayed here on points so its tough to “complain”. But wow, if I had been paying, I would have been beyond disappointed. The concierge was useless - recommending mostly tourist trap trattoria’s. Ended up at great places often despite their suggestions. Beyond unhelpful in printing train tickets etc — had to do it myself and seemed bothered when I requested some translation help. Food is uninspired to say the least...how is that even possible, its Florence?! Rooms were big but poorly thought out. Fitness center is acceptable but its completely lost on me how they let this carry the St Regis brand...welcome to Marriott.
Classic St Regis. Helpful staff, excellent rooms, lots of nice amenities. As Platinum members we were upgraded to a room with a river view. The room was very large and comfortable. The staff was very attentive. The only thing to be aware of is that is it a little far from the center of town. It's an easy walk - until you've been walking all day! We just needed to take the extra time into account to walk to our tour meeting spots. The bar is beautiful - stop in just to look even if you don't plan on a drink. Would definitely stay here again.
This is definitely the best hotel I have ever been. simply just breathtaking! It's like walking into a palace. We were there for 5 days, I wouldn't be bored even if we could stay there for a month. The food were amazing, loves the in room service. Bed was nice, big and soft. I will be back again!
The hotel is luxurious in the manner of a typical European grand hotel, with formal service, lots of frills, and so on. The rooms fortunately are newish so there are enough power points and other conveniences. Rooms with a river view are superb. And the breakfast is excellent too. It's slightly further from the usual tourist places, so not the most convenient if you want to walk. And it is naturally pricey but it is worth it if you want a hotel like this.
We would give it six stars if we could. From check-in to check-out, they treated us like the most important guests at the property. John, the man who checked us in, walked us through the whole property to show us the amenities, and then showed us to our room. The concierge was gracious and helpful, and everything at the hotel was immaculate. We recommend the champaign sabering event each night, and they actually let my wife cut the top off one of the bottles. We will be back next time we are in Florence.
We spent the longest portion of our trip in Florence, as it is my favorite city in Italy, so I was very excited. We had come from Rome, where we stayed at a recently renovated 5 star hotel. I was a little bit disappointed upon entering the lobby at the St. Regis in Florence. Parts of the lobby seemed refreshed, and some looked very historic and regal, so the two looks conflicted with each other. We were in a room on the 4th (top) floor, but our view was of the back of the hotel and "courtyard". Luckily, being on the top floor allowed us to just clear the top of the building and be able to see out to the city. But, I was hoping to be upgraded to a room with a view of the Arno, especially because we were staying there mid-week instead of during the weekend. As a Gold SPG member, I would have been granted an upgrade upon availability, but one of the rooms with a view was only available for 1 of the 4 nights I was there. The terrace outside the hotel was a bit sad, we went once for a drink but kept getting bugs in our drink. The location is pretty far from the main parts of the city, not really a close walk to anything (in a relatively small city). Breakfast wasn't included in our room rate, and was so wildly expensive that we only went one time. The one thing that was amazing was the "butler" service. We ordered coffee to our room every morning and it was always on time and they often gave us breakfast pastries as well, which was unexpected and kind. They helped us book a day trip to Tuscany and clearly recommended the same places to most of their guests, but I didn't feel as though I was shuffled into some standard Tuscany experience. The place we went was a family run farm with an incredible winery. We had the most amazing driver, too. I read some earlier reviews that other guests felt this was too standardized, but I can attest that the concierge's suggestions are clearly researched and that is why they are recommending the few places they do. The staff was very kind and pleasant. If you are an SPG member, I would recommend booking this over the Westin. For what it's worth - the Rolling Stones were staying at the hotel at the time we arrived! Very cool.
