We were given an apartment, with a really big room, lounge and kitchen. It was really comfortable. Breakfast was basic, but more than enough for starting the day. Staff was very nice and helpful, always greeting with a smile. It's in a good location, close to the train station and a short walk to the city centre (15 min), and even though it is located in a main street, you barely hear the traffic when in the room.
Had a lovely week in this hotel. The manager is such a character and the friendliest that I've encountered on a holiday (speaks perfect english). He bakes fresh pastries and rolls every day, we were right next to the kitchen and the smell drove us wild! Centrally located, walking distance to Duomo and Galleria Accademia which houses the statue of David. Easy walk from the railway station, even for the senior citizens in our group. Would definitely stay there again.
The reception was friendly .and location wasn’t bad .But that’s where the positive feedback ends . I was shocked after so many great Reviews to find that our room was the most disgusting and dirty I’ve ever stayed in . we spent 2 gruelling nights here and we didn’t shower for either of them .Even my 13 year old boy refused to use the shower . It was grimy and dirty from top to bottom . The beds were horrible and after 2 nights we found we were covered with bites from I’m guessing the dirty bed covers . Only the white under sheet and over sheet were clean . The blankets were dirty . The room was at the top of a horrible old dirty staircase which was also dirty and dusty . The breakfast was not something I would wish on anyone on their holiday . I got asked to leave after only 1 coffee as he said he needed the table for other guests . My children hadn’t even managed to join me !! And I was at breakfast only 20 minutes after in beginning . A poor selection of 3 pocketed biscuits . 1 plate of formed cheap ham which smelled off. Joghurt .uncooked White mini rolls and the highlight being croissant of which there wasn’t enough to go round . On the first night our tv worked with controller but on the second day on our return they had changed our controller to a different one which didn’t work .obviously another room had complained and they had taken ours as a replacement .I complained immediately but they said there was nothingvthey could do as they didn’t know which room had ours.please see photos as this makes clear I am no picky person when it comes to hotels but this was Disgusting and ruined our trip to Florence as we felt dirty and didn’t even want to go back to our hotel at night .have rated it with one as it’s not possible to rate less . But this shouldn’t be on hotel lists .....
I truly don’t understand how Hotel Fedora got quite a few good reviews and a **** rating on Tripadvisor. To start with, it is almost impossible to find this hotel, even with GPS. The place is surrounded by major road works and it is neither easy to drive nor walk to it. Santa Maria Novella railway station is at least 20 minutes away, and it takes about half an hour to reach the city center. Access to the floor where this hotel is located is a joke. You need to carry a set of massive metal keys to open two heavy entrance doors, to enter the reception area, and, finally, your room. There is only one lift which is suitable for a maximum of 2 tall people without luggage. Our room was dated, smelled bad and did not have natural light. The bathroom was in a horrible state, with fungus all over and broken fittings. Breakfast was one of the worst we ever tried in hotels: 1 kind of cheese, 1 kind of mortadella and pre-packed bread and biscuits. You can get a nice coffee though – if you survive 7-8 minutes in the queue to coffee machine. The only positive point is the personnel, especially Francesco. They were all kind and helpful. Otherwise, it was an extremely disappointing experience.
The Hotel is in a Old Style Strong Building but the way Hotel is built is awesome. We got to stay in a Flat Style Booking with Kitchen and other amenities. However, the real rating goes to the Management. I don't recall the name of the Manager but he was just awesome in terms of assisting in small issues but also giving us time to listen our issues and absolute resolve to close the issues at the earliest. We got the Best price with Complimentary Breakfast which can be a Lunch for people like me who are not Dieters. The Hotel is located very near to the Station and one can reach the Hotel walking from the Florence Station in max 10 mins else take the Bus and its 5 minutes as u have to still walk given the fact that its between 2 Bus Stations and Italy is not India where any bus can stop anywhere (pun intended).... I would request Trip Advisor to let Users to give the review for last 2 years of Trip so that more users get the benefit. I travelled in June 2016 although giving the Travel as Nov 2016 as no way I can select the same due to restrictions from Trip Advisors Website.
People at the desk are wonderful. Allowed us to check in few hours before our 3pm. but hotel is very old, and budget. small breakfast area, with limited food, but crew helped us to be comfortable and very hospitable.
We decided to stay in here due to the decent and low price of the hotel. In general you get what you pay for. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice but minimalistic furnished. Big plus is the location, close to 15min walking to most tourist places. Breakfast is typical italian, so rather small. The breakfast room is small and can get crowded, so calculate when to go to breakfast and plan in some time. We had a room in the back of the hotel facing the yard, which was pleasant at night as it was not so loud. We even had our own balcony. Only the bathroom was weird as you had to go through the shower to reach the toilet. For a short budget stay i would definitely recommend it, if you are looking for a more luxury service and stay look somewhere else.
Reasonable walking distance from Stazione Centrale (15') and most major attractions (20-30'). We appreciated the spacious family/loft suite with separate sleeping areas - however the balcony was small (standing only) and the washroom was shockingly tiny! Good continental breakfast with bread, pastries, cold cuts, cheese, juice, coffee, etc. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff/host. Good value.
This hotel was not the greatest. The bathroom is gross and it's hard to even shower. We actually refused to shower in it and waiting until we left to take a shower. (Thankfully we were only there for one night). The bathroom smells like mildew. The hotel is right on a main highway which isn't ideal for families with small children. The stairs up to the loft were broken. The rooms are also very old and outdated. I would spend a bit more to get something more modern. Also, the breakfast isn't the greatest. The only good thing was the orange juice...
People were friendly and place was clean. Our room had a lovely balcony too! Breakfast was nice and there was a big selection of food. Everything walking distance. Saw so much in the 2 hours that we were in Florence!
