Hotel Laurus al Duomo

I have stayed at Hotel Laurus al Cuomo for the past five years; beautiful hotel just a few blocks from the Duomo, Train Station, shops, and museums. Professional and attentive staff with familiar faces. Easy check in and out. Hotel rooms are always cleaned with actual working A.C. during hot summer nights. Breakfast staff has a new courteous member, a young guy who is always helpful and always smiling has a smiling. I highly recommend Hotel Laurus al Duomo.

Very convenient to the Duomo and all the shopping and sites of Florence. The hotel is totally adequate and clean, but could use some sprucing up (though nothing wrong with it, just outdated). Not a lot of amenities, but for the price, it was great. The staff was very nice.

Perfect location with easy access to city. Good breakfast selection. Easy walk from train station. Shower "water shield" would work better if it were larger .

We had stayed in Florence for one night. Rooms are very spacious for a European hotel and clean with no carpets. Bathroom is large. More like a simple American Chain hotel without much personality. Convenient hotel if you are traveling by train. Only a short walk to the train station that is easily managed with two roller luggage per person. Although close to the Duomo, the hotel is located at a 90degree angle to the church. Thus no matter what room you stay in your will not get a view directly on the Duomo. Even the roof top restaurant gets only a profile view. Wonderful that breakfast is included in the hotel price. We stayed on the 5th floor. Just above us on the 6th floor is the rooftop restaurant. Unfortunately you could hear the chairs and tables being moved around during up until midnight making it difficult to sleep at night. We had called down to the front desk around midnight who told us it would stop soon. The sound did stop not at our request but at the fact that they were completed their cleaning. The hotel offers a baggage storage area for travelers. However, when we went to see this area the door was left open without a lock. We had 2 different people put our bags in the room and take them out. Each had a different policy if we were allowed to step in the room to get our bags or not. On check out we were in a rush to catch the train. The front desk staff told us a walking route that was out of our way. Staff not very knowledgeable nor personable.

Hotel is clean and centrally located. Overall a great experience.

While staying in Rome for 5 days, we had a 2 day excursion to Florence and it was a perfect. After 1.5h ride on the train, we arrived in Florence and the hotel was just 5-10 minutes from the train station. We got a room on the top floor (those are really tiny, bed was kinda small too) but the view from the balcony was totally worth it - Florence Cathedral was just a couple hundred feet away. Rooftop breakfast was a floor down and it probably had even better view of the cathedral. We had the perfect 2 days in Florence - I even got to drive a Ferrari at Piazzale di Michelangelo

LOCATION! Close to everything! Staff - polite & helpful, good value for money.

The location of this hotel is absolutely fabulous. So close to the cathedral and within walking distance to every main point in Florence. The room was very clean. The staff was much more friendly than other places we visited in Italy. The free internet connection in the room was an added bonus, although it comes and goes. The breakfast buffet was simple, but nice not to have to worry about finding breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed a dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was very good. Overall, we had a very nice stay in Florence and enjoyed the hotel.

Had an amazing dinner after a long day of walking..platter was really goo Sara

It was perfect. Location, locatio, location!! The room was clean and had everything I need.

This hotel is on a bustling street, not far from the Duomo; yet, because of the heavy double-paned windows, it was very quiet. In fact, we couldn't hear any street noise at all. The room was very comfortable and the staff, friendly and helpful. We felt like we were in the middle of everything with so much to see and do within walking distance, In fact, you can't go very many steps without seeing something interesting: a statue on the corner of a building, an interior courtyard with a fresco, beautiful building details. Florence is a walker's paradise, and the location of the hotel couldn't have been better for us. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the duomo in the distance was pleasant and the food, excellent. We would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Pros: - close to train station - close to the duomo, academia gallery, several other attractions - good size room (I booked a suite) Cons: - very low water pressure - The tv in sitting room wasn't working and nothing was done even after we pointed it out. Very disappointing since I had booked and paid for a suite with a view to kicking back in sitting room during evenings. - Internet kept on cutting out and we were told its an issue with whole city. Not true because Internet at Arnold Coffee (few doors down) worked fine all the time. Used them more than the hotels.

Great hotel. Only negative was virtually nonexistent wifi.

This was a really nice and comfortable hotel right in the middle of busy shopping and very close to the Duomo. The beds are comfortable (a little hard but I like it that way) and the room was clean albeit a little small. The only thing I wish they had was a gym but other than that it was great. Breakfast was okay, not fantastic but fine.

Overall happy and close to everything! El Duomo is a short walk and so is the bus station.

We were very happy to stay here after doing research on the web to gain insight into the ratings and location of several hotels. I wouldn't hestitate to recommend Best Western so it's a "GO" and you won't be sorry. The Best Western Premier Laurus proved to be winner and very very conveniently located among attractions. What a delight!

Laurus Hotel is situated right in the center of the Duomo, close proximity to everything including all the restaurants and attractions. This hotel is ideal to everything including the train station which is about a 10-15minute walk. Save yourself the 10 euro taxi drive!. The view of the Duomo at the hotels rooftop was spectacular. We did not opt to pay for breakfast but staff allowed us for free coffee and pastries while we were on the rooftop. I was not particularly impressed with the staff. They were somewhat cold- they definitely need to be more helpful & a little bit more friendly. We were surprised some nights that the front office is manned by a skeleton crew & sometimes no one at the front desk. The hotel location & cleanliness definitely made up for staff's lack of hospitality & PR!

This hotel is in a awesome location. Your stay here will be a good one. I can promise you that! The staff was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and very well maintained. Offseason tip...do not purchase your reservations to the museums through the hotel. Just get to the museum early enough to beat the lines and save the hotels reservation fee. The breakfast here was a very good - the view from the restaurant was just awesome. You will enjoy your stay here. The hotels is a very close walk to the train station. Enjoy, we did.

This was just what I was looking for-walkable to everything, easy to find, personable and helpful staff, clean room.

Can not ask for a better location. The hotel is within walking distance to all sites, and also very close to bus and train station. The room is clean and staff very helpful.
