NH Firenze Anglo American

Room was small and badly lighted. Drapes were dusty and wall paper were peeling. The corners of the wall (bottom part) is chipping away. When we walk on the wooden floor, the 'planks' squeaks and creaks and when we are walking near the tv, the whole table moved. We had a room with a stand-up bathroom. The bathroom was narrow and small and insufficient light. When you pull the shower curtains, it is dark as the light is outside the curtains. Had to stay 2 nights there and it was a nightmare!

Stayed here for 4 nights, in a huge room with a good size bathroom. The room was very quiet, and had heavy drapes plus external shutters to keep out the sun. The building is elegant and the inside has a lot of character - so much nicer than 'built to a recipe hotels'. They provide an excellent breakfast. It is 2 bridges away from Ponte Vecchia and the hop on hop off bus is a short walk, plus there is a lovely restaurant next door (Paperosso) which is really worthwhile.

We had a wonderful stay at NH Firenze Anglo American. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a classy feel to them. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated on the quieter side of the city, close to the river and Cascine Park (would recommend going for a walk there). The only downside to this is that in the middle of the summer, walking into the centre of the city and major attractions can feel like a marathon, so I would recommend getting public transport or a taxi and leaving the walking until the evening.

Stayed here for a 3 night break. Our room was lovely, good size with everything we needed, very clean couldn't fault it. The reception staff were always welcoming and said hello whenever we came back to the hotel they was also very helpful with our questions about where best to go etc around the city. Hotel is in a good location about 10 minutes walk from the city and the walk in to town was along the river so very nice. Ideal location. The breakfast buffet was lovely good selection of fruits, cereal, continental aswell as bacon, eggs toast etc and good choice of hot & cold drinks the waiters remembered is after the first day and was very friendly. Would def recommend this hotel if staying in florence.

Stayed here for 4 night, good sized room, very clean. Breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from and good coffee. Location is good, easy walking distance to the train station and most attractions. Overall a very good stay.

Former palace with a lot of character. Nice, large, clean rooms and bathrooms. Great breakfast buffet selection, quality, and taste.Elegant dining room. Very helpful and friendly staff. Convenient location - close enough to all the main sites but far enough to get restful quiet sleep at night. Only real issue was spotty WiFi connection in the rooms. I would stay here again, and would recommend to others.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights and would certainly recommend it. However reviewing it is actually quite hard as I have never stayed in a 4* hotel that had peeling wallpaper, so many chipped skirting boards and flaking paint - and that was just in our bedroom.........! Ideally i would give it 3.5 stars at the moment but as it's not possible have been generous with a 4 as I liked the staff and felt they did their best! Location is fantastic - short 10 minute walk to the train station in a quiet area close to the river so also easy to walk into the City. Staff were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble and all were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast had everything we needed in plentiful supply. Room size was great - large with high ceiling and a good size bathroom too - apparently every room is different. However ........... On seeing our room our initial reaction was to ask to be moved as the decor was not up to a standard we expected for a 4* hotel. It was not possible to do this immediately although hotel staff said that we could do it the next day. We therefore slept in the room the first night, had a fantastic sleep in a quiet part of the hotel with the comfy beds and decided in the morning that we'd stay put - basically the ambiance of the place grew on us along with its quirkiness and as we knew we would be out the vast majority of the day there seemed little point in switching rooms as ours was clean and tidy....... So, in a nutshell, go open minded about the decor of your room, try and get a cheap deal to compensate for the fact it might be tatty and needing TLC and enjoy the total experience - the hotel is apparently being renovated gradually and in time I am sure will be amazing and probably out of our price range! .

Be sure to visit the rooftop patio at sunset for an Aperol Spritz. Great views of the Duomo. Great location for walking to the city centre. Highly recommend using the bus sytem and tram during the hot days - very easy and affordable. Rooms are more spacious than you would expect. Great burger place around the corner for late night snacks.

We loved the service we got from everyone at the hotel here. Even to the point when we asked at midnight to change rooms due to cooling issues in the room, thankyou so much anna! Very impressed, amazing buffet breakfast, loved the bar man!

Great hotel affordable just away from centre approx 15 minute walk but you get so much more for your money would highly recommend . Reception staff really helpful and room was huge beyond expectations
