Very nice hotel. Clean and cozy rooms. Too old for my personal taste, but it was clean pleasant. A good choice. Did not regret it. The location is also very good. Just some minutes to Ponte Vecchio, Galleria dell'Accademia and other tourist attractions. Reccomended.
This hotel was beautiful, great location, with a fun outdoor patio area. It was recommended to us from others who had stayed there and we were extremely pleased. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Florence.
Just returned from a week at this hotel. It is in a good location, away from the crowds and noise of the centre but close enough to walk to it. Our room (327) was on the top floor, large enough with a huge bed and adequate storage. Breakfasts were buffet style, with plenty of choice and great coffee which was kindly made for me by a member of staff although the machine produced a fairly good cup too. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and our room kept spotless with regular towel and bedding changes. The lovely bar to relax in after a busy day sightseeing for a nightcap was great. A good hotel and I would recommend it as a base for visiting Florence.
We had a wonderful time staying in the Anglo-American Hotel. The rooms were not ritzy, but they were quite large and allowed you to sprawl out . The breakfast bar was amazing and really got us off to a great day. The staff were professional and very helpful. I left my wallet in a cab and they contacted the cab who returned it to the hotel and when I offered to pay the hotel and the cab, they said no, they are there to provide a pleasant stay. The only downside was the hotel was far from the center of town, but we turned it into an adventure each time walked back looking for a new place to eat or have gelato.
In a quiet area and a short riverside walk from the major attractions with friendly and helpful staff. Overall feel is that it needs a makeover and some modernisation. Breakfast was okay with a reasonable choice more continental in style. Bed was very comfortable and large.
The hotel is perfect for a short break in FLORENCE located just a block from the Arno River and the American Consulate, and a ten minute stroll along the river to the ancient Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Uffizi gallery for example. The reception area is an extremely grand affair with a uniquely attractive glass ceiling, and no less than two pianos, and a relaxing bar area - but the true welcome comes with the team of ever-so-helpful and tireless receptionists like Grazia and Gabriela who really can’t do enough for you : you very quickly feel at home (and never want to leave!)
Two minutes from the Arno and within easy walking distance of almost everything this hotel is ideal for a stay when exploring Florence. A superior room that was very stylish with all you might need. Exceedingly helpful and friendly staff who were also efficient. Buffet breakfast with enough variety to suit most people. Add an enormous bed which was enormously comfortable in a hotel on a very quiet, peaceful street.and you get an exceedingly pleasant base with everything necessary for a leisurely look at Florence. We will be back in Florence and will not look elswhere for somewhere to stay.
So happy we chose this hotel, 15 mins easy walking to the centre along the river. The staff are friendly professional and seem to love their job. The bed is very comfortable and huge! Great in every way, breakfast plentiful and set us up for the day. Florence is so busy and hot it was a pleasure to come back to the tranquillity of the anglo American. Can’t wait to visit again.
We found this a good hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Downstairs the sitting areas and bars were lovely and airy. The dining room was quite spacious and the breakfast was very good, with quite a lot of choice. The bedrooms were fine but our bathroom needed some repairs. The bath was badly stained and would need resurfacing, the rest of the bathroom was quite up to date. Clean, fresh towels each day. Overall it was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
Stayed recently for 3 nights. It was an okay location, about 15 to 20 mins walk from the shopping area. I have stayed at hotels closer before, and with much nicer interiors. The hotel is screaming for an urgent upgrade. The staircase leading to the rooms looks like it came straight from an ancient building. While the rooms are a good enough size, it was very old. Mine was a 3 bedder room, it came with a high ceiling, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom. Extremely spacious and big, but it was way too big. The lights were not enough to fill the room, making the room relatively dark at night. The parquet on the floor was chipped, laminates in the bathrooms were wearing off etc you get the drift. The irony was that while the room was huge, the bathroom was small. It comes with a bathtub, but it was very slim. Barely enough space to move around also. Walk-in wardrobe was a bit unnecessary. Even the TV was too small for a room that big. My colleague who was staying in another room had a much better and nicer looking room. It was a comfortable size for 2, and the bathroom looks more decent too. We were pleased with the breakfast. Selection was just right, and the food was good for us. They even had detox juices! Overall, it's not bad but it can do with an urgent revamp, really.
