Stayed over only for 1 night , highly recommend . Great breakfast . Firenze rail road literally by bus 14b 15 minutes .
Good breakfast
Nice hotel. Room was large and bathroom was great, for being in Florence. Breakfast was tasty and we appreciated the scrambled eggs! We had a river/street side view that was beautiful. A nic Park and dog park across the street. Only downfall, it was HOT. The AC does not get turned on until May. We tried to sleep with our windows open but the street was so loud and people were out until 4am. Also had mosquitoes coming into the room.
We loved it and would stay here if we come back to Florence.
This was a very modern, state of the art hotel. Because it was not a small, charming hotel like is normal throughour Italy, you do have to walk a ways to get the the historic area.
Had a great time, great value, and a pretty easy walk to the heart of Florence
if you're passing through Florence and need a place for a night or two this hotel could be it but it's a bit overpriced even for that. For one thing Hotel lobby looks promising but the moment you get in those shaky elevators and claustrophobic hallways you realize something is amiss. Wait till you get to your room. It'll be smaller than expected, crammed and with Internet that doesn't work. But if you plan to spend time around town you won't be spending much time around this hotel since Florence has much more to offer than bad hotels. In additions parking is very expensive (20 Euros a day), breakfast is included and is really awful and don't buy anything from the bar (3 Euros for a can of Coke). As a necessity it works but there are cheaper alternatives near the same location with the same services.
Grand Hotel Mediterraneo was definitely good value for the money. Only two drawbacks: the hotel was a 20-minute walk from the center of town in the blazing sun when the temp averaged 97 degrees, and many of the hotel staff were not friendly -- generally polite but without warmth.
We walked the streets of Florence. We took a train to Venice for a day. We went on a wine tasting tour to Tuscany. The food at the hotel was AWFUL! Needs improvement and the staff at the bar was unfriendly. We did not like the food for the complimentary breakfast. Add waffles or more American type food. This was the BEST hotel room I have had in Europe so far.
