This is a nicely appointed hotel, just off a main road, close to pretty much everything. We had a two bedroom: one bedroom up in a loft, another downstairs, the beds were very comfortable, the sheets soft and the towels plentiful. The living room gave us someplace else to sit and it had a great dining table so we could spread out as we worked. The kitchen is small and we didn’t attempt to cook. It seemed to have the bare necessities for cooking but we didn’t put that to the test. Plenty of glasses and plates for whatever we needed. They replaced the “pods” for the coffee maker each morning and had decent coffee, hot chocolate, and even chai available in the lobby. So that’s all good. We slept well and overall enjoyed the space. But, the little things were not so good. The layout is probably fine if you put the kids upstairs in the loft, but that was the king sized bed. Neither of us wanted to turn on a light to go downstairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom so there was stumbling about or trying to use phones as flashlights. All would have been simpler if we’d stayed in the downstairs room across from the bathroom, so maybe that’s on us. Otherwise, the loft area was great. The Wi-Fi, on the other hand, was abysmal. Not enough cell signal to matter so we relied on the really poor Wi-Fi. It required us to log in again and again and again. I swear, the lease on that was minutes, not hours, and all for a very poor signal. I rarely got more than two bars, could never stream even a YouTube video. It seemed there may have been an option for a password-protected Wi-Fi connection, but we were never offered it and why should we pay for it? The room wasn’t inexpensive and seriously: Wi-Fi is NOT an option anymore, no more than having a TV with cable is an option (note: they didn’t have the MLB channel so I missed an important playoff game). Bottom line, the room was good and set up rather well, but they need to up their game with the amenities like the Wi-Fi.
This was our second time here. We stayed on the first floor this time which was just great. My wife likes that there is always coffee available in the lobby area. The New grill area looks really nice, we did not have time to enjoy it but plan to on our next trip. Our only 2 concerns were that the bed in the loft was not made up and also we would suggest maybe having a ice machine in the lobby area. We are both in our 60’s and going up those step to get ice is a long walk from room 106. Just a suggestion. Thanks for a great weekend!
Have stayed in past. Good location. Not crazy busy tourist block. We enjoy that it has a kitchen, refrigerator, stove. Nice outdoor area with gas grill and fire pit. While not a huge deal, our room had towels replaced, and garbage emptied but bed not made and no extra soap or shampoo. Again, not a make it or break it issue.
The staff at the inn were fabulous! They were like staying with family and very affordable. Our condo had a full kitchen and loft for extra space. They provided suggestions of things to see in Door county. Kids loved “renting” movies and having hot chocolate everyday. Hotel has both an indoor and outdoor pool. Easy drive to many sites in the area. Highly recommend!
This is our second visit to the Waterbury and always a great time. The rooms are clean and quiet, plenty of room, full kitchen saves money on eating out, the staff is friendly and helpful. The new patio area was being completed with grills and tables which is a nice upgrade. Can't wait to come back next year.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe king suite. It was roomy. The sitting area had a tv about the size of a computer monitor as did the loft room. Second bedroom had no tv. The kitchen was stocked with paper towel, dish soap, dish towels. A Keurig type coffee maker with supplies included. Room was clean. We stayed 3 nights. Outdoor and indoor pools small but clean. Many children. Although website clearly states no early check ins, we saw several families come before 3pm and check in. Pool towels were always in short supply. Be aware that there is NO elevator of any kind for second floor so you must carry all your things up the two flights of steps. In addition, if you book a loft room, they have a full set of stairs to the loft. Loft rooms are on the second floor. Overall a decent place. Check in person was nice but other than than that we had very little contact with staff.
Stayed in a small suite. The room was well appointed and had room for the 4 of us. It had a full kitchen and full sized refrigerator. There was a small deck also. It was quiet and in a nice area. The bathroom was large and clean. I would have liked to see a television in the bedroom. The kids enjoyed the pools- both inside and out-as well as the hot tub. There are grills outside though we didn’t get a chance to use them. Parking was plentiful and it is not too far away from Sister Bay or Ephraim. The staff was very nice and the facility was clean. We will definitely stay here again.
Celebrated our milestone anniversary by bringing our children and grandchildren to Door County. Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay than the Waterbury Inn! Gracious staff! Two Wonderful pools! Generous size rooms. We hope to come back!!
Everyone in my family had a wonderful stay in the 2-bedroom deluxe we had. I was initially concerned that the apartment would have a drab or even slightly gross feel to it given its age. However, it was truly well-maintained and clean. The carpet, furniture, blinds and light fixtures were obviously not the 1980s originals. We also saw workers maintaining the grounds each day. The room was very quiet. The kitchen had a dishwasher and microwave, though no toaster. Basic cooking supplies and dishes were provided. There was a set of plastic bowls, but I would recommend bringing along your own kiddie dishes or paper plates if your children are young or prone to breaking things. I would also recommend bringing a baby gate (seemed like an adjustable one would fit) if you’re concerned about children in the loft. The railing in the loft was about up to my hips (I’m 5’3”). We found it best for the children to sleep downstairs in that bedroom. The bathroom was small, but it helps that the sink is separate from the toilet/shower area. We enjoyed the small deck, which had a wooded view. The children had a blast in the pools, on the play set and playing ping pong. There were puzzles and board games in the lobby, too. If you book direct, you will get a loyalty card good for a free night after 10 nights. The Waterbury is less than 10 minutes to downtown Ephraim, and is also close to Sister Bay. Great location and a great value!
We've gotten away a few times for a wine tasting weekend in Door County. Stayed multiple times at the Waterbury Inn. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Indoor pool and hot tub are great to have for winter weekends. Can't rave about this place to stay enough.
