Extended Stay America - El Paso - West2.5 out of 5.0

Anyone that’s been to El Paso recently knows about all the freeway construction. When I arrived they had all roads closed and my GPS couldn’t figure a way in, so I called the hotel. Hilaria was so helpful in guiding me in around all the construction. When I finally got there, Delilah and Hiliaria were so very nice. They got me checked in with a smile and even called the room after I got in to make sure I had everything I needed. This is a place I’ll definitely be staying with again, as I’m in El Paso way too often.
My husband, my daughter and I were staying at ESA West from 3/11 - 3/15 for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is near highway I10 which is very convenient to everywhere. The outside of the building looks fine, and the front desk staffs were friendly and welcoming. However, that's all the positive comments I would provide about this hotel. I'd strongly recommend that you stay away from this hotel. The reception area was small, and the main lobby only has one sofa and two chairs. On our last day of staying there, the "grab n go" breakfast basket was near empty without replenishing. Our room was located on the first floor. The hallway on the first floor was always dirty, and stains were easy to be spotted on the ground everywhere. It seemed that the carpet in the hallway has never been vacuumed during our 5 days 4 nights stay. The room looked dark. Our daughter was sleeping on the sofa bed which you can feel the springs. Needless do I say; it was not a comfortable sleep for her during those 4 nights. In our bed, there was a stain and hairs on the bed cover. It was just gross. The shower in the bathroom was wheelchair accessible with only a shower curtain to block the water from going out of the shower. Every single time after showering, there was a significant puddle of water outside the curtain. We learned to use the towel to help absorb/wipe the water on the bathroom floor. Every morning around 5:30 am, we could hear the person upstairs walking. The sound insulation was very poor. Moreover, the hotel was also in a close proximity of the railroad track. Therefore, we could hear the train horned every times it passed by day and night. In my opinion, this hotel is long overdue for a major renovation. Until then, my family and I would never stay in this hotel again. Once again, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone of my family and my friends.
Pleasant staff - always willing to help and make my stay comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job. In spite of the comment below under issues; my room was very clean and I found the property clean with exception of Friday - Monday (see below) . Quiet area for the most part - there is a family fun center across the street - it was quiet until the late night staff left in their loud cars. I walked my dog early morning (0530), after work and then again after dark (2100) ... I always felt safe. The area immediately around the hotel is lit very well. Plenty of shopping nearby. Only issues: 1) The smokers - in cold / bad weather they would smoke on the first floor at the stairwells, and in good weather they stand AT the doors (all doors even the main entrance) and smoke. For non-smokers, you have no choice but take a deep breath and walk through. 2) Trash bins on the first floor stairwells piles up from Friday until sometime Monday - and it does pile and it stinks. Very disgusting.
The building is in a nice part of town and looks new and clean on the outside. The inside is completely opposite. It was dim, damp and dingy. The room was large and the bed was overall comfortable but between the refrigerator, AC and traffic noise it was difficult to rest. There is an overall musty smell. The staff was friendly but other than that there is no real upside to staying at this hotel.
Wish the staff would adhere to my on line booking quote for my room, and not change price for room at check-in. Room service? Oh would like it. Oh, your schedule for m, tus,, sometimes...like whenever? Room was clean, I like.at check-in.
Hotel was convenient. The price was very reasonable especially since it had a kitchen. Hotel offers kitchen utensils if needed. Hotel has good security after hours. Does not have a selection of breakfast.
I chose this property because it was cheap. Really cheap and it was obviously recently remodelled. The one bad thing was a really disgusting lingering smell that might have come from someone cooking. The property is nice. The rooms are large and it had a full size kitchen but I've never called for a late check-out and been told, for no good reason other than something having to do with the hotel's "system" that I could only have until 11:30. And this was from the manager. The housekeeper came by and told me to take as long as I needed so I know they didn't need my room. Next time I would pay little more and stay at any of the number of hotels nearby and be treated like I usually am at a hotel rather than go cheap and have to rush out while trying to finish up my laundry.
Good value if you don't need fancy. Wouldn't want to stay there much longer than a night or 2. Has a kitchen so if you are staying for a while its probably ok. Not a great neighborhood or anything. Didn't care for the on the go breakfast. But probably a decent value.
Gerrard Lugan ruined my stay. That guy named Gerrard Lugan was literally the worst hospitality agent I've ever come across. He was extremely condescending and just plain rude. The service was bad enough to turn me off from ever staying at ANY extended stay america establishments ever again!!!! The room was nice, but there are NO TOWELS, and it takes at least 30 minutes because they have NO HOUSECLEANING. They leave everything on their front desk employees, literally over working them! It's definitely obvious, I think their front desk people should form a union. The things you go thru at this lodging establishment will frustrate you but you will obviously see that their front desk associates are overworked and won't complain.... I think that's their angle. This place gets a complete THUMBS DOWN from me!!!
We stayed here on the 3rd floor. They have a sturdy luggage cart with plenty of room for handing bags & clothes. We chose a queen room, plenty of space, a separate kitchen nook with 2 chairs @ the bar. Well lit, a large comfortable sofa & chair in the sitting area, a nice roomy bathroom, and the bedroom area had a lamp & bedside table on both sides of the bed. Also, a large desk with 2 chairs. A moderate list of TV channels. There is a TV that allows you to plug in your own Fire Stick (our fire stick has Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime on it). The TV swivels in order to watch from the bed or the sofa. Full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, 4 burner stove & oven, and microwave. Saved this on our GPS. They even offer you crunchy & chewy Granola Bars, assorted muffins, instant Oatmeals, Hot Cocoa, and coffee for a "Grab & Go" Breakfast. There is Guest Laundry & a Fitness Room. Within walking distance (less than 1 mile) large Shopping Mall, restaurants all close by, and a Movie Theater in the mall. This loacation has a "dipping" pool, too small to swim in just big enough to take a dip.
