We stayed at this hotel while traveling through on vacation arriving after midnight. When we got to our room the A/C was off and the room was hot. Not a big deal it eventually cooled off. Next morning we had the free breakfast. My family went down first and my daughter got the last cinnamon roll. I made it down shortly thereafter (about 10 minutes before the breakfast ended) and they were not putting out any more food. I inquired about a cinnamon roll because this is the main reason I stay at Holiday Inn Express, their cinnamon rolls are awesome. The hostess serving breakfast said she could not cook any more rolls because the "owners were watching" and I guess they don't want cinnamon rolls to go to waste or something. To the owner: don't be stingy with the cinnamon rolls, that's all you got over the other hotels. If I'm going to pay the same price as Marriot and not get cinnamon rolls then I'll just stay at the Marriot!
Picked this last minute after travelling for 500 miles. Got in to room quickly and the boys wanted to hit the great looking outdoor pool. Unfortunately although it looked great it was closed and remained that way for the two days. We were offered a pool at another hotel 1 exit away on I-8! Room was older than most HIE and the bathroom shower was not up to usual power - a strong dribble. Wasn't the best stay and the hotel is having some works done we could here during the day. Staff were pleasant and we really wanted to give 5 stars but there were just too many little things not right compared to the last 4 HIE we have used.
When I got this hotel I slept the whole first night without interruption and after eating a great little snack provided by the hotel . Robert the employee who checked me in was very courteous and got down to business as soon as I arrived checking me into my room quickly and efficiently and had the credit card authorization already in place and ready to go something most hotels fail to do. Being a person that stays in hotels regularly for work it's refreshing when someone gets it right. This is only the beginning of my story though because when I got stuck in town for another night I arrived at this hotel once again and was greeted by Robert I was very intrigued by the balconies that they had on some rooms and inquired about this without hesitation Robert change my room and got me hooked right up with one of these beautiful balconies, this was by far one of the best stays at a hotel I've had this year!!! Thanks again to Robert and the holiday inn
I have had to stay here for business on more than one occasion. The staff are always very pleasant and try to get to know me a bit. The rooms are spacious, with a refrigerator and microwave included. The beds are amazingly comfortable, and I always get a good nights sleep. A buffet style breakfast is included daily, with a variety of choices. A light dinner is served M-T in the evening, and it varies every day. I have been upgraded to a better room whenever one is available. I look forward to my next visit with them.
Very nice and centrally located in El Centro, California and right off the freeway Interstate 8. Lots of parking, easy to get in and out. Very nice and professional staff and the hotel is very clean and looking fresh. Very good breakfast buffet with many option. The pool was outside and very large along with the hot tub. The pool and the hot tube were being serviced according to a sign on the gate. The pool area had lots of outside furniture and when everything is working would be a great place to enjoy the evening with or without children. My wife and I stayed there for the in room hot tube, in one of their upgraded room that had two rooms and one king size bed. Very nice looking but for my wife and I, (older folks), the hot tube was VERY difficult for both of us to get in and out of for at our age. Also we could not make the jets work, we did not know there was another switch on the far wall that needed to be turn on and did not use the jets along with the switch in the tub.. Very disappointing. The motel did make good for our problem.
Spent one night here passing through. Hotel was very nice and room was quite and comfortable. Wifi was pretty good. Location is very convenient - it is just two blocks from freeway and next to the road to Salton Sea. Room had small fridge and microwave. Free breakfast was pretty good. I would definitely stay here again on next visit to area.
The hotel is tucked in behind one of the main exits in the area. It is far enough from the freeway that you don't hear it, so it is quiet. The room was on the 1st floor. I was surprised that I never heard any cars in the lot at night. They have a nice simple complimentary breakfast and the staff is very nice. My only negative is that the hotel is undergoing renovation construction. It would have been nice to know. The fitness room is very small and limited for good workout. It was part of the construction as well.
My experience at this hotel was horrible. They screwed up my check in and check out dates, housekeeping stole from my room, and the shower squeals horribly when the water is at a comfortable temperature (room 204). Housekeeping mistook my towels for their own because they were white and similar size; I guess the fact that they DIDN'T say Holiday Inn wasn't enough. Then they helped themselves to a stack of quarters I set aside for the laundry machines. Management never replaced or reimbursed me for the towels. I'll never stay here again or recommend this hotel. Time to dust of the Hilton Honors reward card I think.
The hotel is great. Clean, big rooms. It is right off the freeway and there are places close enough to walk to if you wanted to grab a bite. I have stayed at many HIE and the only complaint I always have is the noise. You would think there was an elephant in the room next to us on Friday night. Saturday night there was a wedding right below us, so we heard very loud music and lots of people talking til about midnight. Then early in the morning there were people running down the hallway making lots of noise. Sleep lacked due to all the noise. We were checked out after the first night even though we asked for 2 nights. That was not fun trying to get into our room with our valuables and the key does not work! Their breakfast options are always really good and convenient.
My experience with HIExpress is that most are pretty basic. This one was similar but appeared to be recently updated in some areas, rooms were clean and staff were helpful. If you want to spring a few extra dollars on an upgrade, the balcony rooms were large and sunny. It is always nice to have windows that open on a cool evening (even though road nice was notable). I don't care for the "prefab" breakfasts, but there are plenty of other options nearby - including a fun taco shop on the block.
