Generally the room was comfortable and clean. Nice view. It was a bit noisy at night though with guests coming in late. The pillows were not too comfortable.

We loved the access to all the sites we wished to see. Numerous pubs and restaurants nearby as well. The hotel is well appointed and we really enjoyed the Buffett breakfast included in our stay. However the hotel is in a very part of downtown so if you are a light sleeper then perhaps look around.

Disappointing
Not good. At no point in my booking was I aware it was a room without a window. Others were getting a free upgrade, others were offered the same upgrade at £30 per night. Not good value considering the price I paid for 3 nights. Had a baked potato in the lounge, potato was black and not baked.

Don’t stay here
I stay in hotels about 100 nights per year and this was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The entire place was decorated with 1970s furniture and the furniture in our room would not even be accepted by goodwill if it was donated for free. The bed was so broken down that the edges if the mattress collapse when weight is on it so the entire night you are hoping not to fall off the bed. The front desk staff never acknowledged us as we passed by to go down the 18 stairs to try to street level Maybe this would not be as annoying if we hadn’t paid over $400 per night. The location was good but k encourage any future travelers to find hotels nearby but say yourself the annoyance and do not book here

A nickel and dime hotel charging 5 star rates. Checkout is 11 and I requested a lte checkout at 12, sure, no problem, that will be 20 pounds. Tiniest room and bed we have stayed in the last 27 nights. Oh, and no A/C , so, you open the windows. Across the street construction noise starts at 7AM. And did I mention the shower didn’t work. Never again.

This is an older hotel. We had a decent stay here. The location is terrific for the city center, train station, etc. The morning breakfast is good and in a nice room overlooking the city. The room was dated and the WiFi was spotty at times. The staff and servers were nice and helpful.

Our stay was "interesting" in that the room we were assigned was up on the 6th floor, the attic, with 3 "port holes" as windows, which did overlook Sir William Scott's Monument, and a beautiful view of the city). There are no phones in the rooms- in order to contact the front desk you need to access them via their website and "chat" tab . However, I could not find the chat tab easily on their web site, and by the time I did find it, I could have taken the elevator down to the desk and back up again! There are no elevators by which you can enter the lobby from the street (a series of 3 small staircases) but they will have assistance from the front desk if you require it. It is not handicapped accessible for wheelchair bound/walker bound visitors. The staff was very accommodating, however. There is only 1 small elevator for the entire hotel.

At first impression, if you have actual luggage there are 30 stairs up to reception with no elevator. This immediately turned us off as we are on a 3 week trip with large suitcases. Then, the room we were given lookes NOTHING like the pictures that they advertise; it was old and outdated, with old carpet. It barely had room for us and our stuff. Nothing like the wood floors and modern updates shown online. The bathroom had the oddest layout with a weird swinging shower door that bumped into something in either direction meaning we had to climb on the toilet to get into the shower. The only reason this got 2 stars was for the location, which was unbeatable. It was basically an expensive hostel with a private bathroom, I would not recommend.

$500/ night for a 6th floor room with no air conditioning, few outlets, terrible Wi-Fi. The breakfast was decent. Old and loud. They didn't exaggerate the number of stairs. Woyrld not recommend.

Best thing is the location. Very near the train station, short walk up the hill to the Royal Mile, all kinds of shops and restaurants around. Bus stops as well. Decent restaurant if one doesn't want to fight the hordes on the street. Helpful staff. Classic afternoon tea and buffet breakfast. Reasonably priced for such a nice place.
