Convenient for exploring and lovely lounge and breakfast for staying out.
It was a hotel that had everything you needed. Location was great. Perfect for the Airlink 100 bus to the airport....right around the corner. Amenities are basic, but I didn’t need a ton. Bar area is really nice.
Everything was clean and well taken care of. The location was perfect for the attractions.
The location is the absolute BEST. This is an older building and the passageways, lift, and stairs can be a bit challenging for old hips & knees - but that's not really bad.
The operative word here is "Old." The best thing about this property is its very central location. The onsite bar is also a nice feature. However, the Old Waverley Hotel's heyday seems to have passed. Firstly, this hotel is noisy, and not just from the streets below, but also from the plumbing and the adjoining rooms. Secondly, maintenance seems like it hasn't been well tended to. Lastly, amenities are low-cost at best. If you're looking for convenient location and everything else if booked, this will do. But it's a little pricey for what it is and there are better options.
Location outstanding. Expensive but worth it. Breakfast not great but views from breakfast room amazing!
My sister and I stayed at the Old Waverly for three nights; one when we arrived from London and then two nights to check out Edinburgh after we came back from a three day tour of the Isle of Skye. We chose the Old Waverley because it was just a short distance from the train station and it would store our luggage as we could only take a carry on on our Isle of Skye tour. Breakfast was included and the choices were adequate. The dining room and bar area look over Princes Street. Twice we were able to sit at the table in the round windows looking over the city. The bar was quiet and pleasant. We lugged our luggage up the flight of stairs to the lobby, but later noticed that by the door you could ring for assistance.
Great location for public trans. Great city views. Loved free smart phone. Lots of steps and doors. Kind of typical tho for older buildings
I have no problem with the property itself. It is very central to train station and buses. I was aware of the steps up to the lobby. I was very upset about the internet. It would kick me off every 2 to 5 minutes. It was very inconvenient that evening as I was trying to FaceTime family before my trip.
Magnificent views. Lovely ambience and as close to the sights and sounds this magnificent city has to offer as you could expect.
Great, convenient location, breakfast was generous.
We had a very nice stay at the Old Waverly. The staff was excellent and went out of their way to help us. The only issue is that due to the age of the buildings (the hotel is very beautiful) there are lots of stairs-- some very narrow. For my older husband in need of a hip replacement this was not the best.
Noise at night from dumpsters and garbage collection. No Bueno.
