On arriving. Place stinking of food. Plugs did not work. Had to get key to lock the suicide windows but one was broken. Bath did not stay full. Washer/dryer just beeped with error. Oven and kitchen stuff was disgusting. Not clean. Hairs and pubes on sheets. Highchair was covered in ladt brats food. Bin manky with crusty bits. Mould in rooms Utter repulsive and would never stay here again. On leaving got told could have a discount next time!! Just give me our money back for this stay as would not put a dog there.
Nice view. Cheap (200£ for 3 night at 3 p), clean and space with all the necessary to enjoy your days. About 10£ and 15-20min by taxi to join the old city center. Good with friends family. Not necessary for couple except if you stay long
So I understand that people get rough and deposits have to be taken. But a bit of warning would have been nice. Arrived at 6pm with a very tired toddler that needed her bed. Reception was closed and a number was left for getting a code for a key safe that held your key...all ok so far. Called said number, was told they needed £100 of a deposit before they would give me a code for a key safe? I didn't have a card. We had travelled to Edinburgh for the day, it was an impromptu visit. The room had been booked on Trip Advisor and paid for, in full, with no mention of the deposit. I only had my Apple Pay, I advised the contact on the telephone that I had no card, only my wallet in my iPhone or my Apple `Watch and "could I transfer it online?" I could not. Spent an hour on the phone to Agoda who the booking had been through, only to be told that they couldn't make them give me a room and they couldn't refund the non-refundable cost of the room without contacting Ocean Apartments. As of today, I have still had no refund. So there I was (by this time it's nearing 7:30, my child is starving, grumpy and exhausted and I'm at the end of my rope) out of pocket and out of a room. Finally got a room at a Travel Lodge across town, at 10pm, where the welcome was amazing and just what I needed. My overtired child was a delight the next day. Aside from possibly breaking the springs from bouncing on the bed too much, I'm not sure quite what damage they thought we were going to do? I was hardly prime for a wild party with a baby! It wasn't so much that they wanted a deposit, just that there was a random number to call to hand over your credit card details with no details/contract or information on how you would get it back (I presume you would have gotten it back?) and if you didn't happen to have a physical card (having had Apple Pay for 2 years, I never do now) then tough?? If nothing else, that should be stipulated before bookings are made and I would have selected other accommodation. I won't be back.
We (5 people) stayed here 3 nights, plenty of room and bathrooms (2 full and 1 half baths) 2 bedrooms and a small laundry. Large den area, nice kitchen and dining area. This place was large for European standards, there was a nice view of Britannia (the Queen's ship when in Edinburgh). There is an ASDA to shop for groceries, just a short 5 or 10 minute walk from apartment. These apartments were very clean and they even have a DVD library to borrow movies from. The bus stop was just a 2 minute walk to catch a ride into the city. All day bus ticket was 4 pounds about $6 US dollars. Walking through the city is fun with all the old buildings and architecture.
Lovely holiday apartment with amazing views of the castle and Arthur’s Seat, although we also looked out into some waste land and rusting ships. The Royal Yacht Britannia was also visible but it isn’t berthed in a very scenic area. The staff were extremely nice, providing us with extra chairs and cutlery on Christmas Day. The only negative was the plumbing which made a terrible screeching noise when water was run in the bathroom, apart from that a very nice stay. We also rented a space in the garage which was very convenient. Thank you.
apartment was well fitted out with all appliances inc washer drier. free wifi, and secure underground parking. great value for money and helpful reception. nearby frequent bus route to edinburgh centre. with a brewers fayre about 2 metres away. I will stay here again and highly recommend it.
Me and hubby have just returned from a lovely weekend in Edinburgh. The apartment we stayed in was lovely and clean and well equipped. Great space. Took about 30 mins (quicker in quieter times) by bus to the city centre but a day ticket is only £4 each. Would recommend.
I would like to put up a review on behalf of myself and my friends who stayed at Ocean Apartments on the weekend of 27th October. We booked this through ‘Lastminute.com’ months before our stay. They advised that they will review our booking and come back to us within 24 hours. After 24 hours, it was accepted and the money was all taken off in one go. A couple of days before we went, my friends had a look on Ocean Apartments direct website and on their website advised ‘no single sex groups, such as hen parties etc.’ Now, we were a group of 11 girls aged between 21 and 25. (No particular reason of a getaway, just a city break) I therefore called lastminute.com and they advised that the knew nothing about this and had never been informed by ocean apartments of this rule so we had nothing to worry about as it had all been confirmed. I thought I would call Ocean apartments the day before just to confirm check in and check out times etc. The man on the phone then questioned the reason for my booking, our ages and if we were a single sex group. He made me feel quite uneasy as if it was an issue, but as it was a day before our booking he advised that he would ‘let us off’. I advised him that none of this was on last minutes website, he said that they will get this updated. (It therefore may be updated now) When we arrived, the man at the desk obviously was expecting us as a ‘single sex group’ after my phone call the day before. He started being very patronising about the fact they don’t normally allow this. He made a statement advising that any slight noise complaint from neighbours, we would be ‘chucked out on the street’ and he ‘Doesn’t care what happens to you or where you go’ Yes – my three friends that were with me at the time can vouch that these were his exact words. I understand they may wish to advise us of no parties but this was taken to a whole new level. IF they called us before our booking was accepted to confirm the single sex group then I wouldn’t be complaining to the extent that I am. To be disrespected and treated like children is appalling. We felt on edge the whole weekend and as if we didn’t belong there. I work full time as a leasing agent and never in my job would I treat any customer like this, no matter what the circumstances are. It is a real shame that the service was as bad as this as the apartments themselves were nice and clean. Although I wouldn’t stay here if your intentions are to be in central Edinburgh for most of your stay. I hope someone can come back to me with an explanation of why this service was given? Apart from the fact of total discrimination against our age group. I already clarified with other guests (family and a couple) and they were not given the lecture we were given, or any lecture on that matter. I can happily say that no noise complaints were put forward and no parties were had! P.s I think your cleaner took two of our own towels as they disappeared. I look forward to hearing from you.
This is the first time we’ve stayed in apartments as oppose to hotel/b&b and will definitely stay again. These are lovely spacious apartments we couldn’t find any fault with them and the bonus is secure parking.Fantastic break away in fantastic apartments!!
Could not have been happier with our apartment. Worked out cheaper than a hotel and allowed us the freedom to relax of an evening, self cater when we wanted. Clean bright apartment we had a 1st floor which suited us fine. Less lift travelling to the provided underground secure parking. You don't need a car though as a No.10 bus from the bottom of the road takes you straight in to Edinburgh for £1.60 a journey or £4 or all day up till midnight. Pub down the road and Asda superstore 10/15 min walk - 5 by car. Ideal location for touring. We did Edinburgh City, Stirling, Roslyn Chapel and Loch Lomond and my wife's childhood home of Balloch. Definitely booking again. Use the code in the photo to get a discount.
