The property was very well located and the interior decor was quirky and cute (cartoon themed) I stayed in a cozy double which meant it was tucked into a nook which was perfect for me but those with longer legs that stretch over a normal bed might want to opt for one of the more standard room options. I slept very well! The coffee and tea cake options included in the room were delightful. Front staff was lovely.

Location is amazing!! It's about a 15min walk to Waverly train station. Heads up though there will be hills & stairs & crowds. So I would estimate more like 30 if you don't want to rush. You are sleeping at the bottom of the inspiration for "Diagon Alley". Also you are close to lots of Old Town attractions, eateries & bars. Holyrood Palace is a far walk. I almost wish I had just taken a taxi directly there, and then wandering back home thru Royal Mile. It is definitely not as easy as I thought it would be to hail a taxi once on the streets. I only had one day (~20hrs) and I feel like this hotel allowed me to achieve my itinerary. I felt safe in room & walking around as a solo female. I stayed during festival time, so loads of people. Hotel's intersection is confusing (as are all the streets in Old Town). My advice, ask people which way to go & have them clarify exactly how much you need to turn. However, it being festival, the hotel was close but not directly next to Castle where the security lines/crowds are insane. The staff was exceptionally nice & helpful. I got a pretty deep cut on my toe while walking on stairs. And when I asked for recommendations for pharmacy. She generously gave supplies from the first aid kit, so I could start my day. I'm very grateful to her. All the staff was good. Helping to call a taxi or give directions when needed. Luggage storage for free was great. The rooms were cozy as advertised. Breakfast was good. Not sure I would pay extra.

Very unique rooms! Small but spacious bathroom was nice. The employees were great and even stored our extra luggage in their vault while we did a 2-day bus tour. Parking ramp was down the road a bit but was doable. I would recommend!

This hotel is in a perfect location. I would recommend for a quick stay (2 nights max). It has a cute/cool vibe. But... the noise at night is pretty bad and the WiFi is terrible.

Awesome as usual. 3rd time there......walk from there to anywhere. Near all the sights plus Arthur's Seat to hike. Very clean and comfortable

The hotel is nicely located right at the Grassmarket and it looks trendy from the outside. Once I got my room I realized that it was in some additional part without elevator access (elevator stops at floor one, one needs to carry luggage two floors up). The windy hallways looked filthy and not what you expect from a hotel of that category. The room was super small but otherwise fine. Unfortunately, I got bitten by bed bugs really badly, which is unacceptable. I did not stay until the end of my reservation but went somewhere else.

Very easy to get to the National Museum and the Castle. The adjoining pub had a great menu and friendly staff. Will stay here again.

Basic room is compact yet comfortable with lots of storage. WiFi and other amenities added to an enjoyable stay. Central location for festival, 5-20 minute walk to most venues. Many food and shopping options nearby.

I would recommend the Grassmarket Hotel to everyone going to Edinburgh, Scotland. The location is perfect! Right in the heart of Old Town, with the Castle right up the hill. Plenty of pubs and eating establishments right down the street, and incredibly entertaining and talented street performers. Everything was only a short walk away, and the hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful! The rooms are on the small side, but that's to be expected. It is a very small hotel, so there isn't a gym or anything like that, but the pub next door does do room service. Our room was extremely clean and maintained throughout our stay, and the tea and coffee and Tunnock's Tea Cakes that were refreshed everyday was the icing on the cake! If you are going to Edinburgh, STAY HERE!!!

The hotel is well located with restaurants, shops, bars and attractions just a few steps away. The décor is very modern and creative. Staff was very helpful and the free Wi-Fi worked just fine. The in-room bathroom were fully equipped with soap, shampoo, towels, etc. and the AC worked perfectly. Would definitely stay here again.

Great little hotel,we were up on the top floor and quiet. Great little touches in the room, tunnocks chocolate, fresh coffee available. A huge map of edinburgh with magnets and of course a Beano annual. Loved it all!

The location was perfect with a gorgeous view of the castle. The room size was adequate for an individual or couple , but not a family. Very little storage available for your belongings, so you would need to travel light. The room was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a very easy walk to many of the attractions we were interested in seeing. We easily found our way to the castle, train station for side trips, and Edinburgh University. The area had wonderful pubs, restaurants, and delicious bakeries all within an easy walk. We thought the hotel was great value.

Loved this hotel - really cool/cute character and awesome vibe. The room was pretty tiny but state of the art - ipod docking station, beautiful bathroom, and tons of character. the staff was really great - helped us book a local tour and answered all of our questions.
