Grassmarket hotel

Awesome as usual. 3rd time there......walk from there to anywhere. Near all the sights plus Arthur's Seat to hike. Very clean and comfortable

The hotel is nicely located right at the Grassmarket and it looks trendy from the outside. Once I got my room I realized that it was in some additional part without elevator access (elevator stops at floor one, one needs to carry luggage two floors up). The windy hallways looked filthy and not what you expect from a hotel of that category. The room was super small but otherwise fine. Unfortunately, I got bitten by bed bugs really badly, which is unacceptable. I did not stay until the end of my reservation but went somewhere else.

Very easy to get to the National Museum and the Castle. The adjoining pub had a great menu and friendly staff. Will stay here again.

Basic room is compact yet comfortable with lots of storage. WiFi and other amenities added to an enjoyable stay. Central location for festival, 5-20 minute walk to most venues. Many food and shopping options nearby.

I would recommend the Grassmarket Hotel to everyone going to Edinburgh, Scotland. The location is perfect! Right in the heart of Old Town, with the Castle right up the hill. Plenty of pubs and eating establishments right down the street, and incredibly entertaining and talented street performers. Everything was only a short walk away, and the hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful! The rooms are on the small side, but that's to be expected. It is a very small hotel, so there isn't a gym or anything like that, but the pub next door does do room service. Our room was extremely clean and maintained throughout our stay, and the tea and coffee and Tunnock's Tea Cakes that were refreshed everyday was the icing on the cake! If you are going to Edinburgh, STAY HERE!!!

The hotel is well located with restaurants, shops, bars and attractions just a few steps away. The décor is very modern and creative. Staff was very helpful and the free Wi-Fi worked just fine. The in-room bathroom were fully equipped with soap, shampoo, towels, etc. and the AC worked perfectly. Would definitely stay here again.

Great little hotel,we were up on the top floor and quiet. Great little touches in the room, tunnocks chocolate, fresh coffee available. A huge map of edinburgh with magnets and of course a Beano annual. Loved it all!

The location was perfect with a gorgeous view of the castle. The room size was adequate for an individual or couple , but not a family. Very little storage available for your belongings, so you would need to travel light. The room was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a very easy walk to many of the attractions we were interested in seeing. We easily found our way to the castle, train station for side trips, and Edinburgh University. The area had wonderful pubs, restaurants, and delicious bakeries all within an easy walk. We thought the hotel was great value.

Loved this hotel - really cool/cute character and awesome vibe. The room was pretty tiny but state of the art - ipod docking station, beautiful bathroom, and tons of character. the staff was really great - helped us book a local tour and answered all of our questions.

I was there for an international conference, and the hotel location was perfect both for the conference venue and for sigthseeing late in the afternoon. Unfortunately I was in Edinburgh at the beginning of the Festival and the pub at the ground floor of the hotel there was live music until 3 in the night (friday-monday). It has been terrific !!! Anyway I realized that when there is no festival they play live music untill the 1 in the nigth, so it is a good hotel only for people that do not go to sleep early in the night.

i was in town for a wedding so i didn't spend much time at the hotel, but the staff were friendly and helpful and it was in an ideal location for me. the hallways / stairwells were a bit confusing initially as my room couldn't be reached by lift so i had to take the lift to the 1st floor, then walk along a hall and up a stairwell.

Good location. Clean rooms, but very small. No elevators to our room (47 steps up!). Wood around the bottom 8-10 inches was rotted through to the inside. (Is this typical of European hotels?) Not very classy, but it served our purposes.

We liked the location because we could walk to many sites such as the castle and all the variety of eating places one could ever want. It would not be for those who demand a 4 or 5 star facility. It was average on cleanliness. The staff were helpful but not necessarily trained. The bar could be noisy as well as the street if you were not located well in the hotel. We were well located! Typical middle class hotel in Europe.

This is was our third time returning to the Grassmarket. We like going there because of the location. This time we were surprised that the rooms had been remodeled. However, since it is a very old building, the floors were extremely uneven...they could have straightened those out a bit. We had dips and ditches in our entry way and in the bathroom....and things weren't exactly clean. This sounds all negative, but truly the hotel is a GREAT location and we did enjoy our stay very much. The renovations were nice, showers were great. We will probably be back again..:)
