Staff was helpful, courteous and professional. Great locations, clean, comfortable beds. But our room faced the back of the hotel where the parking and trash was. Unfortunately, trash was strewn about and not placed in the dumpster. And most of the noise from the parking lot seemed to come from workers (wearing uniforms). However, the tub in the bathroom was something of a fall hazard with it's height. I acknowledge that Edinburgh is not he most disability friendly city with all it's stairs, inclines and narrow streets, and that is part of it's charm. however I did meet with a women in your front reception area who was disabled that was having an issue with getting her room. I wondered later if she would get a room with a bathroom like ours that was not disability friendly. Not great optics for you. However, I noticed this with most facilities in England as well. I may notice it more since I have multiple sclerosis and I occasionally write travel/information articles on this subject. Otherwise, I would return to this location.

We couldn't have asked for a better hotel, location, and staff. We arrived early and they have large locker rooms to change and store our bags prior to check in. We had a castle view, and this hotel is located in the perfect area. I was traveling with my parents and we felt very safe, and the bars across the court yard are not noisy at night

This was an amazing hotel. Staff was great- Tyra at the front desk helped me with an external tour app issue and we had a wonderful tour. The view out our window was absolutely unbelievable. Very very close to Victoria St, the Royal Mile and of course the castle. Would definitely recommend.

Great location and breakfast, but elevator issues made things tough. No apologies were given to guests or even updates. We just walked to the elevator one night after being there, broken. Never reopened. The Apex Grassmarket Hotel has a lot going for it. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices to start the day, and the location is excellent—close to everything you’d want to see in the city. We had a castle view room and it was very pretty. Unfortunately, during our stay one of the only two elevators broke down. With hundreds of guests relying on a single lift, wait times stretched over 15 minutes. This was especially hard for elderly guests, those with luggage, anyone with ADA needs, and honestly anyone who just needed a break after a long day of walking around Edinburgh. On the housekeeping side, the weekend cleaner was wonderful—super sweet and personable. During the week, however, the woman assigned to our floor spent every morning asking if we really needed our room cleaned. I understand she had a lot on her plate, but part of being on vacation (and paying quite a bit for it) is not having to make your own bed or feel guilty for wanting fresh towels. Overall, the hotel has great potential, but the elevator issue and inconsistent housekeeping really affected our stay.

The staff was very friendly and held our bags for us prior to check in. The bed was comfortable and room clean. The location is excellent to walk everywhere with restaurants across the street. The only disappointment was to be placed on the first floor with road noise. We booked the hotel several months in advance. When asked for a higher level room I was advised that they were fully booked. Also the bathroom shower had mold in the grout that needs to be scrubbed as well as the shower floor.
