We couldn't have asked for a better hotel, location, and staff. We arrived early and they have large locker rooms to change and store our bags prior to check in. We had a castle view, and this hotel is located in the perfect area. I was traveling with my parents and we felt very safe, and the bars across the court yard are not noisy at night

This was the first hotel room I have ever stayed in that did not have a thermostat. The room was incredibly stuffy with still air. The window only opened a few inches but it was too loud outside to leave it open at night.

The property is convenient to everything. Didn't like the shower because there was only half of the glass wall and no door so the water was all over the floor. Additionally, during our stay there was a group of people were talking at the back of our room through 2am in the morning. We called the front desk but it doesn't help at all.

I had an issue with my first room and the staff was apologetic and moved me..I would not stay there again The staff was great but it is a HUGE hotel with small rooms and you pay for the location.

We booked a room which was described as Superior Castle view. Well we had a view of the castle but we were on the first floor over the hotel entrance and on a very busy and noisy street. The room was hot with no air conditioning. We did not have a good night’s sleep.

Air conditioning it working well. Very hot in room. Also didn’t like the way property was arranges. As you checked in there were several steps where you had to carry your luggage up, and then another few steps until you came to elevator. Very difficult for me as an 80 year trying to mange my bags!!

Rooms weren’t very clean, and it was hot (not their fault) and too loud too open the window (also not their fault I suppose) but combined it didn’t make for much sleep. Also, the gym was bordering on pathetic. Nice people though.

Comfortable stay and a good view from the castle facing room. The room had no AC cooling as it is rare for the city temperature to go up like it did this June. The hotel does provide a table fan and it does cool off after 8 pm Overall a good stay with a good variety in breakfast

Establishment is in a perfect location in grass market. View of Edinburgh Castle from room window was impressive . Staff hospitality was hit or miss. Room was large enough for a family of four. The hotel was a bit aged and probably could use a bit of freshening up. During the summer time, the A/C is just ok, but be prepared for loud city sounds if you keep window open for room circulation and coolness.

The upgrade to a room with a balcony plus view of castle was ££s a day extra. The balcony was a fenced in walk way of just over 1 m. There was no air conditioning and the room was so hot it was difficult to sleep. The view of the castle was true but in June/July the real view is a building site.

The rooms was comfortable and had a gorgeous view of the castle. A top floor room also means privacy from the busy street below (which can be quite lively at night!). The gym facilities are excellent and accessible. The staff were generally friendly but occasionally aloof. The lack of air conditioning meant a very warm room most of our stay in June, so a fan (provided in-room) is necessary. The open window somehow did not cool down the room at all at night, so sometimes it was hot in the room but lovely outside. Location is incredibly convenient and walkable (under 15 mins) to Waverly Station.

The hotel and the room were both nice and clean. Ideal location with a pretty view of the castle. The only issue would be the shower/tub. It is very tall so a little awkward to climb in and out of (I’m 5’4” for reference). Also, the shower doesn’t have a water-tight door so the water spills onto the floor with each usage. The hotel states they have laundry services. It is a contracted service that takes your laundry for the day and charges per item (very expensive - example, approx $14 to wash 1 pair of jeans, or $4 to clean a pair of socks). There is no onsite laundry.

Dreamy Experience!

An absolutely PERFECT location! Right near the center of everything. Friendly staff, nice breakfast, across the street from a cluster of wonderful pubs. At the base of Edinburgh Castle and near shopping. A short cab ride to trains to London, UK spots.
