Best Western Lansdowne Hotel

Hotel sits in prime position on the sea front... it's been in the same family for over 100 years and to be honest the rooms could do with upgrading however for the price paid and the quality of the food, it's like an old pair of shoes that you always wear despite having New ones in the wardrobe... it makes you feel Good!

My 3rd visit to the Lansdowne in 2017 and it gets better every time! Please don't change anything. After 40 years in the hotel business I can firmly state you have the perfect mix of old and new, excellent atmosphere, with attention to detail and well trained friendly staff. The weather was shocking so we had to stay inside for 2 days! However we were supplied with endless amounts of extremely good food and drink and got to know fellow guests from all walks of life finally joining together on the dance floor to welcome in 2018. It was my friend's first visit which she thoroughly enjoyed. I will be back in the Spring. Thank you to the management and team for all your hard work. Sandra T 😊

My wife and I have just returned from a really good New Year break. We found every part of the break excellent. Food, service and room really good and the other guests every pleasant. We also went to the local pantomime which was very goodWe wil probably book for next year and maybe in the summer as well.

My group of 13 were booked for their festive afternoon tea. When we arrived we saw that we the tables were a mixture of side tables and others with a tablecloth thrown over them surrounded by some chairs and sofas. We thought this was unacceptable and asked for proper tables. The Manager, Elliott, said it would take 20 minutes to put proper tables together and we agreed to wait. We were reseated in a nice room but after 45 minutes no tea had appeared. When we went to look for someone to ask, we were told that it was out fault that we had no tea as we wanted to move and that delayed everything. After a few more minutes some of us received teas but no food. I went to find someone but were told all the staff were attending to another room as they had a party later that day adn they would get someone to us when they could. After another half an hour, rock hard scones were put on the table with some biscuits and a few sandwiches. We again went to find the manager who told us again, it was our fault as we had originally wanted to move. I complained about the food and he reluctantly came to the table and saw the bad quality of the food. When we challenged him, he mumbled an apology and then after more conversation he then said we should not pay. He then disappeared and just left us there. When we gathered our coats to leave he was hiding behind the reception! I run a number of social events in Eastbourne and have never had that kind of bad service. Totally unprofessional staff and service. Would give zero stars if I could!.

We stayed in a Seaview room for four nights over Christmas. The room was perfect, large and comfortable with all the facilities we needed. There are several lounges on the ground floor which are very comfortable. There is a good sized bar area where snacks and food are served. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and they go that extra mile to assist the elderly. The restaurant is large and comfortable with excellent service although some of the newer staff struggle at times understanding basic English. The food was on the whole varied and good but on a couple of meals we found the meat very tough, namely the duck breast and lamb. Overall we found this an excellent Hotel and have booked again for next Christmas.

The Lansdowne Hotel is an Eastbourne gem. It is opposite the Wish Tower Gardens and the beach; the hotel is so comfortable and relaxing. Room 235 was bright, warm, welcoming and a good size. Two comfortable chairs in which to sit and watch the sea-front world go by. The restaurant served good food and the staff were very friendly. Relaxing and cosy lounges to enjoy coffee and chat.

Booked for a party of 8 with festive dinner & overnight stay. Friendly service, great food, live music and a comfortable nights sleep. Was not disappointed.Rounded off with a great English Breakfast and leisrely 11.00 check out. Will definitely come again.

I could not fault this hotel the room and service was very good. I would have preferred a bigger Varity of starters for the evening meal, as the soup was tomato and I am not allowed to eat tomatoes, but this was a minor problem the main course was serviced well and was very good.

Very helpful staff and the hotel has a very good vibe. Ideal for solo travelers with plenty of seating space in the hotel's several lounges. Looking forward to my next stay as I have always received a warm welcome on arrival.

Excellent stay, attentive staff, clean rooms. Bathroom a little stayed. Could improve on the tea, not much flavour ! Overall a very enjoyable experience, would stay again. Breakfast was very good with a lovely outlook on seafront.
