The location of this hotel is excellent overlooking the Western Lawns and the sea. It is close to the theatres and a short walk from the pier and town centre. The hotel is well managed, has high standards of cleanliness and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are all professional, friendly and helpful with special thanks to Rosie on reception who sorted out our special requests so efficiently. Our room was lovely and much bigger than we expected. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and with plenty of seating in the room it felt like a proper home from home. The complimentary water was especially welcome as the weather was very hot during our stay. We stayed B&B and the breakfasts were delicious with plenty of choice of either cooked or continental. All food items were very high quality (free range eggs, butchers sausages etc.) and everything was well presented. The fresh flowers on the tables in the dining room were a lovely touch. We will definitely stay here again when we are next in Eastbourne.

Our freinds held their wedding at the Landsdowne The Hotel was efficient and we were impressed by their attention to detail regarding the wedding. We stayed in a sea view room triple room, although just a double booked with ensuite. The room was clean spacious, tea making facilities and lovely view, however a little nosy This hotel is well located, with the beach just a few minutes away Very good and varied breakfast served

Overnight on business, checked in all good, staff very friendly and then it went downhill... due to weather (very warm indeed!!) I asked if they had air conditioning and was told that due to age of the building they didn't, "OK i said do you have a fan? I'll check with house keeping" conversation over! So went to the room which was very warm, nicely decorated, all the usual things that you would associate with Best Western, turned on the TV and I had pixelated channels! great I thought, I'll go for a walk as it was so nice, so I had a shower as I needed to change, well to say the water came out was slightly incorrect, took twice as long, at this point I was thinking of changing hotels!!! anyway the sea front was really good!!! found a great sandwich shop around the corner which made up for it. On checking out in the morning I wasn't even asked if I had a great stay or where there any problems? Now I'm not one for moaning as I got the room at a steel but you expect certain things, if its warm provide ALL the rooms with fan's, check if the TV's work in EVERY room and finally TRAIN staff on the simplest of things "Did you enjoy your stay?" "Was there anything wrong?" Now I know I'll get a reply for this and you know you reach a point where, what's the point in complaining?

Staying at the Best Western was very pleasant Plenty of areas to sit and chat with tea or drinks. My room was very comfortable and had a wonderful view of the sea and the vintage car rally that happened to be on that weekend. Breakfast was buffet style, great choice and very nicely cooked. The staff were friendly and always helpful. Why 4* some areas of the corridors could do with a coat of paint (perhaps they are refurbishing) and only one lift was working.

Having heard good things about afternoon tea at The Lansdowne, I thought it was time to test it out and this is my new favourite place for afternoon tea in Eastbourne. We visited mid week and everything was freshly prepared. Four choices of sandwich, two large freshly baked scones each with good clotted cream and jam, rounded off with oodles of cakes. The staff were really helpful and a really lovely touch was that the tea and coffee pots were replaced with fresh supplies about half way through our tea. Oh and the shortbread was excellent. I strongly recommend that you either miss lunch or just have a very small lunch as the afternoon tea portion sizes are extremely generous and everything is very tempting. Looking forward to another afternoon tea very soon at The Lansdowne!

The hotel was very clean and professional ,the staff was very pleasant and curtois ,the food was fantastic and the bar was well stocked and clean....... the hotel was nicely situated and the trip to beachy head was really close only a 30 min walk

This was our first proper holiday in the U.K for probably 25 years, and we were slightly apprehensive about it. No need to be! It was excellent, the four day stay being great value in a very nice hotel. As I have said many times before, it's all in the detail. Here, even though the rooms might not have been bang up-to-date, everything was clean and spic and span. No paint chips, no dust, no mould in the the bathroom etc., something that we have found regularly in many supposed upmarket hotels. This hotel is privately run and it shows. The staff are excellent, helpful and friendly. The bedroom was spacious but a little hot due to the recent good weather but fans are provided if you ask. The public rooms and bar are also very welcoming. The free wifi worked well too, enough to stream live television. The location is good, not too far to walk to the town centre and bus links quite close too, and the promenade is just opposite. If you go by car , all day on street parking on the Promenade is available at a nominal cost from Reception. But beware, as at busy weekends spaces are at a premium until later in the afternoon. As for the food, we only had breakfast there and it was good with a reasonable amount of choice, and served by staff with a friendly smile. Not the best but perfectly adequate. The whole experience exceeded our expectations and so The Lansdown is well recommended.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in a sea view room and were very satisfied with the facilities which all worked. The weather was hot and lighter weight duvets would have been appreciated. The comfortable lounges were good. We had dinner each night in the hotel and found the mainly English menus much to our liking. The service was generally good and we were not inconvenienced by the coach tours using the hotel at the same time. Parking in the area is difficult so I used a hotel lock up garage. The access is tight for a large car but I managed OK and was pleased to be free of parking problems when returning from a day out. The location of the hotel is excellent for access to the beach and there is a bus service from the rear of the hotel to the town. We really enjoyed our stay at the Lansdowne and look forward to staying there again.

We booked here with minutes to spare having been let down by the Cavendish Hotel. The service was excellent and the meal was really good. The apricot terrine was imaginatively presented. My husband's beef was tender with a variety of vegetables and my sole was colourful and succulent. I had a problem initially separating the fish from the bones, but the waiter did this for me quickly and efficiently so that I could enjoy my main course. Another bonus was the live music on the keyboard by two talented young men. We will definitely be back!

Early in the year we decided to have a weekend break, The Best Western Lansdowne Hotel in Eastbourne. was selected. As it turned out, none of us had stayed there before and few of us in Eastbourne had been resort . We arrived on Friday afternoon and left on sunday morning. The staff were attentive, pleasant and the food inventive. We had a lovely ocean view room which gave s a feeling of the French Riviera! So get out the panama hats and linen clothes. Eastbourne was another delightful surprise. With a promenade , pier , theaters, winter gardens and the Towner Gallery.
