This is a fairly standard 3 star hotel priced as much more than that. We stayed as we were attending a wedding. The communal areas downstairs were nice and breakfast was fine. Once you got upstairs though, the age of the hotel became apparent - it's quite run down. Room was pretty small, bathroom could have been cleaner. On our second morning, we were not offered tea or coffee - we had to call over a member of staff to ask after being sat there for 20 minutes and finishing our food, and then again for milk! Not worth £130+ per night for not even a sea view room (a car park!) in a 3 star hotel!
I only stayed 1 night, but I enjoyed it a lot! The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, which doesn't happen often as a young woman travelling alone. The hotel itself is lovely, nice old furniture in the room, plenty of tea and coffee, room was clean and the bed was comfy. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, staff were very friendly and I had everything I could ask for. I'd recommend this hotel if you're looking for a cosy stay on the Eastbourne seafront!
Great hotel and fantastic staff. Alfie the bar man had time for everyone, with small talk and for a young man gave good instructions to new staff. Porter was brilliant. Took my parents on holiday both aged 87 he was very attentive. Reception also great listens to guest requests and good clear instructions. But one female staff stood out she worked the bar and lounge pre empting guests questions and guiding elderly guests to where and what they needed. Strongly recommend hotel. Also local taxi service excellent. Room cleaned every day to a high standard. A great big 👍for the whole experience. Thank you all
Stayed in eastbourne for a 6 night stay and the rooms where very spacious and nice views. If you want a good room 312 is great!!! No car parking but on the hand there are garages of £8.00 per night All staff very pleasant Dining room very busy and sometime you had to wait for a table. Food very nice Bar prices as normal in a hotel near London
We only stayed one night but it was plesent. The lansdowne is an old fashioned hotel but has everything you need. We had a superior sea view which was a huge room with fabulous views. the bed was a little soft for me but clean with comfy pillows. large bathroom again clean. the evening meal was locally sorced foods (beautiful salmon)and breakfast was very filling and very well cooked. if you are looking for old school try the lansdown.
I recently stayed at the Best Western Lansdowne Hotel as friend's wedding was taking place next door. For two nights, I paid £280 for an executive room with a sea-view. There was nothing executive about the room, and I got a view of the car park. The hotel is in bad need of an upgrade - it was more reminiscent of boarding school, than one of Eastbourne's foremost hotels. The bathroom was particularly bad - tiny bath/shower with very poor water pressure. The headboard of the bed fell off onto my head in the middle of the night. No fridge/complementary water in the room. From the prices they were charging, I would have expected a much better product. As it was, I would have felt as though I overpaid if I was charged half of what I paid. Absolute rip-off.
Myself and my Wife stayed here for 2 nights last weekend, we had an Executive Double Room with Breakfast included. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely sea view. The buffet breakfast was superb, the staff were very attentive and the Reception staff were excellent. I thoroughly recommend this Hotel to All
I stayed here for one night with my two sons, we had booked last minute and got a very reasonably priced sea view room on the first floor. The views across to the sea are so lovely because of the beautiful green lawns right in front of the hotel. My children were given welcome packs on arrival with some Haribo in them, colouring book/pencils and a beach ball. This sort of thing costs the hotel not very much but makes all the difference, and all of the staff we encountered while there could not have been nicer. It's a very bright hotel with lots of cosy-looking lounges, and is ideally located being close to the town centre and also to the pier and bandstand. All I would say is maybe during a heatwave don't book a sea view room because there is no air con and you need to be able to open the window and not get lots of noise from the main road. Having said that there was a fan in the room which helped a lot. Also I had read about a games room which would be brilliant for kids, but on closer inspection was told it was already in use and it only has a pool table. Breakfast was great in a lovely bright room, would highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is in a good position along the seafront, parking was not an issue and very cheap for £1.00 per day with permit, the food especially dinner let this hotel down, breakfast was a buffet style and adequate. The hotel is next to the main road but the views out number the noise. We will defiantly book again.
We were a mixed aged family party of eleven, ranging from 83 to 5yrs. The Landsdowne was the perfect holiday hotel for us. It's situation directly opposite a green lawn for playing football and beyond is the beach. Everywhere is in easy walking distance to the pier etc. the rooms are very spacious and lots of lounges to gather in. Not forgetting the box of games. BUT the hotel staff were just wonderful, nothing was too much trouble right down to the post it notes for a game of Quess who I am ? A huge thank you to the Landsdowne for a very memorable holiday. We'd love to return.
