Historic house full of comfortable, vintage furniture. Mattress very comfortable.

The Richards house was wonderful. Beautiful interior, free home baked goods, wine and soda available all the time. Breakfast was terrific.

This was an amazing find and stay! It was warm and cozy and had the most delicious homemade dishes. We spent our Anniversary here and I’m looking forward to our next trip Trip into Dubuque. Would highly recommend.

What i didnt like was that the outside has scaffolding all in the front of the house. And there were squirrels running in and out the little holes in the bottom of the windows outside. The towels and wash cloths were very old. When i wet them they were dingy looking. The hostess was very nice and facilities were pretty clean inside.

We really liked the big room - exactly like the photo, it was clean and unique. We loved having a fire in the working fireplace. There was free pop and wine and fresh baked brownies right outside our door. There was some scaffolding at the entrance, but once inside it was fine. Unfortunately we had to leave early and didn't get to enjoy the breakfast...We would go back again

Nice people, great breakfasts, neat interior furnishings good location to many downtown and river events. Would stay there again. .

not too sure how ratings go, this is the third i made on this trip. However, I could rate many times over about the beauty in this home, the friendships we made, the free wine and cakes. and what a lovely couple. we will definitely be back.

Woke up at 6:30 am to the sound of the owner yelling loudly at his wife for 20 - 30 minutes. Lovely property, excellent breakfast, but no chance would I ever return here.

Thank you for your review. We are working on the outside, but our guests stay inside. We can keep the price of our room low because we do almost all the restoration work ourselves and so don't have so much money tied up we have to charge as much as our competition.

Al and Rosie, thank you for your kind words. The outside will take time as the house hasn't been painted since before World War II, but the inside is great and the exterior keeps the outside from getting in.

Wow! An anonymous complaint with no way to verify if they even stayed. Turns out for the entire week up to the day of the posting the owner (husband) was out of state on business and he can prove it. Just who was yelling at his wife???
