It lies 14 miles south of the capital. Shuttle buses run 24 hours a day to central Buenos Aires, or take a taxi. There are a number of public bus routes to Buenos Aires and other destinations.

Comandante Armando Tola International Airport, in the Santa Cruz Province, is 13 miles from the Patagonian city of El Calafate, and thus a good jumping-off point to visit Patagonia and Los Glaciares National Park. Although designated an international airport, most flights are with domestic carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas, so book a transfer from Buenos Aires.

How To Get Around Argentina
Argentina is served by an extensive network of fairly cheap intercity buses – they are fast, comfortable and the best way to cross the country. In the cities, the best way to get around is to use the colectivo (bus) networks. In Buenos Aires, the Metrobus rapid transport bus network has five lines and over a hundred stations, while the subte (subway network) has six lines and 90 stations. Using these is the best way to get around the capital. And if you’re heading out of the center, a network of commuter trains criss-crosses Greater Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires
The capital is cool, cosmopolitan and cultured. Visit its 80-odd bares notables, glamorous old-style cafes that are protected national monuments, before enjoying a traditional Argentine tango dance show. The Tango Festival takes place in August. Buenos Aires is famous for its street art – be sure to take a guided tour. Then head out of town to try horseback riding and an asado (Argentine barbecue) complete with the country’s famous steaks. Back in the city, check out the modern art at Malba (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) and relax at the 10-hectare Parque Centenario.
Córdoba and Mendoza

Patagonia
The region of Patagonia lies in the vast southernmost tip of South America, bordered by Chile along the Andes mountain range.
