Garnish House Guesthouse

The rooms aren't exactly anything to write home about, but Garnish House is a charming B&B conveniently located on Cork's Western Rd. I visited as part of a business trip to University College Cork and Garnish House is literally right across the street from UCC. It's also within easy walking distance to Cork's city center, so getting around town will be easy from here. They also offer a great traditional Irish breakfast and the service is really nice.

Garnish house is a great place to stay. BUT be careful of what you are charged. I have stayed here several times in the past. 7 months ago I booked through Garnish House for a stay this April. There were no prices on booking .com or Garnish for 2018. I was quoted 130 euros per room with breakfast, I thought it was quite high compared with what I had paid before but that’s where we wanted to stay. On our stay We were in a standard room at the top of the house next door. I thought it 130 euros was quite high. There were people arriving when I paid so I didn’t want to make a fuss. When I got home a few days later I checked the rates. To my disgust the rooms were 101euros per night. I queried it with Garnish house only to be told that’s what I was quoted and that’s what I have to pay. 97 euros extra, as I stayed 3 nights. THIS IS NOT THE GARNISH HOUSE I HAVE KNOWN IN THE PAST.

This is a B&B style place that is on a main drag so you get traffic noise. It is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Our room had a comfortable king sized bed but the bathroom was SUPER tiny. You could not fit two people in the bathroom to brush teeth. We took advantage of the laundry service, which was worth every euro! Johanna was so kind and helpful and the reason for my extra star :)

This was my first visit to Ireland - a lads break (ageing lads). We arrived early & greeted by a very friendly lady who offered us tea/coffee & cakes whilst we waited for our room to be ready. Room was a decent size & well equipped. Shower wall bracket/attachment had seen better days but was only a minor thing & didn't spoil our visit. Nothing was too much trouble & all staff were very friendly. Next to our room there was a little lounge which we used to have a pre dinner drink before we went out in the evening. Breakfast was great - so much choice. Loved the eggs benedict. Located opposite UCC & only a short walk into town. Was a great base for a short stay. Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable.

Great little place to stay in cork. On arrival we were offered tea/coffee & scones, very nice touch and the staff were very welcoming and informative. Breakfast was lovely with so much choice on the menu. 15 min stroll to the city centre gave for a great location with onsite safe parking. Would stay here again and would highly recommend. Only downside was the bed for me was a little lumpy.

Stayed at the Garnish house in one of the 1 bedroom apartments. Everything was excellent. It had a bedroom with a small bathroom and living room with a good sized kitchenette. It's not in the main b&b building but just a very short walk down the street. The staff were all very nice. Arriving after a long trip to afternoon tea at check in was fantastic. Like the other reviews say, the breakfast is amazing.

If you’re in Cork and want a nice, clean, convenient place to stay, this is it. This isn’t a romantic B&B, it’s a nice practical place near the city center. Breakfasts were overwhelming, and the service was attentive and appropriate. Good value with a good location.

A group of us stayed here over the St Patricks Day weekend in Cork. We had a lovely welcome with lots of information on where to go to eat and drink, which was followed by tea, bread and scones. Our rooms were comfortable and extremely clean. The mattress was too hard and other residents on the stairs could make it noisy in the room at times. The breakfasts are superb, one of the best that I've ever experienced and all of the staff are so friendly and accomodating. Garnish house is about a 10/15 min walk from the main streets of Cork so an ideal location for exploring. I would highly recommend a stay here.

By far the nicest place I’ve stayed in. Wide array of food to choose from and it’s all made fresh to order. Rooms weren’t the most spacious and it’s twin beds but very comfy. If you don’t mind walking, it’s a nice walk to downtown and right next to UCC.

Had a last minute weekend free to visit Cork on a recent business trip and found the Garnish House online. I was greeted by a friendly team who welcomed me to the Garnish House. After getting me settled into the room they had a cream tea waiting for me. A nice opportunity to get settled in before exploring the city. The rooms are small (many European hotels and BnBs have small rooms) but it was really comfortable with decent towels. There was a nice laundry room for refreshing your clothing which was a god send after being on the road for 2 weeks. The hotel is an easy walk to University College of Cork and downtown City Centre. The only draw backs were the hot water can get scalding hot fast and regulating the temperature takes a few minutes. I realized the cold/hot marker on the handle was moving and so I couldn't rely on it. The other drawback and again it is part of staying in these older buildings is that noise carries easily. I could almost hear the conversations in the room next door. Luckily I'm not a light sleeper and the neighbors weren't really that loud. Just something to know. All in all it was a great place to relax for a quick weekend away.
