This is a nice change from hotels that all look the same. My room is a duplex: a nice sitting area with a sofa and chairs, and up a spiral staircase to the bedroom. There are good small touches everywhere: wifi with no irritating login pages; a lavatory upstairs next to the bedroom as well as downstairs by the living area. A good coffee maker and supplies. The bed is really comfortable, a shame not to have longer in it. A short walk form the centre or a stop on the sbahn. A great place for a short break, or a longer stay. Most of all 5 star service.. everyone there just when you need them.
The hotel is located in an old water tower and is undergoing a remodel; the room we stayed in was not yet redone and could use a little TLC. We however really liked the room with all its amenities. Bathrobes, slippers, turn down service, free water bottles, coffee maker and a complementary mini bar. Our room was very quiet! The hotel is very nicely decorated and the service was excellent. The staff is wonderful! From the valet and front desk staff to the breakfast attendant...everybody was very professional and polite! There is a bar and a first class restaurant on site. Breakfast was extra and the buffet was very expensive, but we really enjoyed splurging that morning. The location is in walking distance to all of old town Cologne and we will stay there again when we come back.
Stayed at this hotel with clients. The room was excellent and huge. Minibar and coffee machine was complimentary. The coffee was great! Bathroom was huge and very nice. We used the meeting rooms facilities, which were very good, except a very old and under par projector. This was not acceptable. Luckily all the other things helped redeem this. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good and service was impeccable.
We stayed here one night en route to the south. What we liked:- - amazing conversion of the water tower into a very beautifully designed hotel - good location - about 15 minutes walk to the main areas - maisonettes room was spacious - minibar drinks included in the room rate - helpful staff and spotlessly clean What I wasn't so keen on:- - car parking was €25 per day - breakfast was €25 per person - there was no light - only a dim one in the bedroom
This hotel gets 5 stars for service. All service personnel were exceptional. From valet parking, reception, bar personnel and breakfast in the morning. It's located within walking distance to the underground and ten minutes by foot from Neumarkt. We went as a couple. We also drove and it was a relief to find Valet parking in a private underground Garage. The rooms were adequate and all the conveniences one would expect in a German five star hotel were provided. A tablet was provided and one could access the Internet on it. All the soft drinks, coffee, beers in mini bar in our room was gratis. The Hotel is wheel chair friendly. There are elevators. There is a bar and two Restaurants. One Restaurant has a Michelin star. I am unable to comment on it as we ate outside of hotel. On another note I was a bit surprised that the breakfast room in the morning was half full. It's a pity as a variety was offered and the wam dishes made to order. Our eggs were perfectly done. All in all a remarkable hotel.
Pit stopped in Koln on the way to Spa GP. Had a relaxing time at the hotel with a lovely meal and coffees on the terrace. The room was very relaxing and service was impeccable. Would stay here again for my next visit to Koln.
This hotel is situated a bit out of the way, not exactly in a happening part of town, although it's a fairly easy walk to the cathedral square. We stayed in a suite: living room, bathroom and dining room downstairs, and a bedroom and a strange kind of a sitting room with a tiny bathroom upstairs. The upstairs rooms are in balcony position, sharing an enormous window with the room below them. The unfortunate part here is that the upstairs, where you sleep, gets really hot and muggy feeling at night, while the downstairs is nice and breezy. The rooms are cool, the design is trendy, but not entirely comfortable. For a self billed five star hotel, there were a lot of scuff marks and broken floor moldings and somewhat dingy bathrooms. The breakfast room was splendid, however, but also costly. The service at the front desk, although perfectly cordial, also seemed not the least bit interested in us. Waiting for keys always took a while while they were otherwise busy in front of our noses on the phone. We had to carry our on bags in from the car. When we asked for recommendations, they seemed a tad exasperated with our ignorance. All in all, this was an interesting experiment, but am not sure we'd pick as a place to return.
Stunning hotel built out of a converted water tower. Felt like staying in a castle. Staff (Katarina, Sarah, and Johanna) were all helpful and accommodating. Location convenient to metro station and added to a wonderful visit in Cologne, Germany.
Loved this hotel. Only downside was no aircon, only a fan So much character to this hotel absolutely loved it apart form no aircon. The room was set out over two floors with the bedroom and ensuite upstairs. And downstairs the main bathroom and a sitting room. With a tv in bedroom and living room. The main bathroom had a bidet. The room had a free minibar, tablet with local information on it and a coffee machine. Not far to the centre, we walked each day no bother. Would absolutely stay again.
Please see previous review as we did have some issues. I must say we are very glad we gave this hotel a second chance as it is lovely the staff are super helpful the room fantastic WITH WORKING AIRCON!! only downside is with it being a Sunday the restaurant and Harry's bar weren't open may be an issue if you are arriving late.
