This place does not deserve the Marriott name. The carpet in my room was actually torn. The hallway carpet was filthy and stained. There was no microwave and when I asked - she said not all rooms have one but she would bring me one, It was so dirty I would not use it. Shower curtain was off most of the hooks and just hanging, The only ice machine is on ground floor with a dirty towel lying on the floor in front to catch the water. Front door has to be opened manually - tough with suitcases. My trash was not emptied daily - "guess she forgot" was the response. No bath mat in the tub. I could continue but I don't think it is necessary. This place is just filthy.
Take a pass on this one. Be very surprised if this place is able to keep the Marriott name on the door much longer. In dire need of renovation. My hunch is there’s an ownership group that’s not willing to spend the money needed to keep it up. Biggest issue though is location. It’s right up against the highway, and not soundproofed at all. Sounds like the cars and semis are literally driving right through the room. The saving grace for the place is that the employees seem to know it leaves a lot to be desired and go out of their way to be accommodating. Really nice people behind the desk and running the breakfast. Still rather have lousy service and get a good night’s sleep though.
We stayed here this past weekend. I have never wanted to shower so badly after staying in a hotel. The floors were sticky, the carpet was torn and stained, and the paint on the wall was chipped. The couch had a huge unidentifiable stain on it, the furniture is dated, and the bottom half of our shower liner was literally cut off. The place was disgusting and I would not recommend.
Our family was traveling across country from New England to Colorado and with a Four Year old. We like to stay at Marriott's as they are mostly consistent and safe and if you have points they can be used. When traveling like this we normally will stay at Fairfields,Courtyards, Residence Inns and Spring Hill suites. THIS was a horrible experience to say the least. We would not even let our daughter take her socks off in the room the stains were so bad and "sticky", wall paper coming off, the tub was so stained that we had to shower her. The work desk area was sticky and the fridge smelled. The lobby was in desperate need of a renovation as well. Wallpaper in the corners peeling off, breakfast area not really that clean at all. I will say the staff was super nice and so friendly. The GM was amazing to us when speaking of our concerns and worked with us. He did say a renovation was coming their way so don't give up on them.
Had a short weekend trip to St. Louis, and had to stay in Fairview Heights. The hotel is conveniently located just off the interstate, close to several restaurants ,shopping malls etc. The staff was friendly, the room reasonably clean but ...basic. The kids loved the indoor pool, the wi-fi worked consistently and breakfast ok.The noise from the interstate was obvious at night, maybe some trees could block the sound ?
A little bit run down, but reasonably clean and with an extremely friendly and helpful staff. If it was just the hotel building, I would probably give it a 2. That was clean, shower was hot, pretty much you get what you pay for.
Do not stay here. I was in 2 rooms. First was so musty smelling and damp it was like sleeping in a room that was flooded and not cleaned. Had to change. Second room was better but not much. Carpet coming up everywhere. My room didn't have a smoke detector. Would have been better sleeping in my car. Don't see how they still have 3 1/2 stars. Marriott should remove their name from the building. STAY AWAY!!!!
Marriott needs to take their name off this place. I spend about 60 nights/year on the road. The hallway carpet was so loose and wavy I could hardly get my suitcase rolled to the room. The room carpet was the same way. Did they have a flood in here and never replace carpet? The plastic privacy curtain is shreddde and had worn out slits. One place had duct tape on it. Look at the pictures, every hour the toilet sounds like it's flushing - not a leaky sound, a flush sound. I'm not exaggerating! OMG!!!!! Get me out of here!
Easy access from I-64 on the Illinois side of St. Louis. Like others have said, great staff but it ends here. Seriously in need of renovations and updates, from hallway carpeting, elevator, sleeping room bathrooms and heating/air. Complimentary continental breakfast. Several restaurants in the area. Property not up to what is expected from Marriott. This area has numerous lodging opportunities; look past the Fairfield.
I don't know where Marriott continues to find their staff but everyone at this hotel are great. From the greeting at check in to breakfast in the morning there was always a welcoming smile. Well done Marriott. Sadly this is where it ended. This hotel is physically below sub par and shouldn't carry the Marriott name. I have come to expect a level of quality with the brand and this hotel falls well short in many areas. I'll start with the front doors, there is a single, manual entry that opens to a second manual entry door. If trying to haul in luggage without assistance good luck. It should be replace with automated sliding doors. It's not an issue if you're just pulling a wheelie in but that's not always the case. The carpets on all floors are old, dingy and faded. The carpet needs to be replaced and if not at least stretched tight again to avoid the tripping hazard. The filthy towel under the ice machine catching the leaks was certainly not something I would expect to see in a Marriott. You might want to replace the towel or better yet fix the leak, The elevator was slower than molasses in December and had a bad smell when it finally arrived. (perhaps due to the close proximity to the ice machine.) I stayed in room 206 which was just beside the elevator and had no issues with the noise from the elevator, parking lot or freeway. The room was quiet. Sadly the room was a real let down. The bed is obviously old and unless sleeping in the middle of the bed I tended to roll out due to the breakdown of the edges of the mattress. The bathroom was tired looking as well. The bath/shower is age old dirty with chip and stains in the tub. The wallpaper in the bathroom is poorly executed could have been hung by an ape. Actually an ape would have done a better job. And I never felt like it was truly clean. I had housekeeping clean the room once during my stay and I had to strip and remake the bed to get the lumps and wrinkles out of the mattress pad. The bed looked like the rocky mountain range before I remade it. :-) There parking lot is tight in the front of the hotel so parking is a crap shoot. We learned to park in the back or side lot. Like others, I noted that there were many times when there wasn't anyone at the front desk when entering the hotel. I'm sure that cameras are in use but security is always stronger with a human presence. There are many restaurants in the area and very close access to the interstate. My final thoughts are, would I stay here again or would I recommend this hotel to a friend. NO. I write them as I see them, and this one is not worth it.
