We come to Clarksdale w/ friends every year for a weekend. We’ve always stayed at this Comfort Inn. Nothing fancy about but it’s always been acceptable and price is reasonable. However, management must have changed. There was no hot water for the shower and they said they couldn’t fix it. One of our friends room had a horrific mildew smell. The hotel moved them to another room that was better, but the toilet didn’t work. Another couple had a bad smelling room and tried to stay in it but the were coughing and had sinus issues by Saturday afternoon. The ladies always enjoy the pool, but there were no lounge chairs. An employee told them the lounge chairs were in such bad shape they wouldn’t bring them out. New ones were ordered, but that didn’t help our group. If the chairs were that bad they should have been ordered a long time ago. The 1st floor ice machine didn’t work and there was slime coming out with the ice from the 2nd floor machine. We will not stay here again.
Have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 2 decades. This year we had 4 rooms booked for our band members. As in past stays, our week’s stay was fantastic! Much thanks to manager Mona, and front desk staff Sandra, Rodney, and others. Very good breakfast included, and location close to restaurants, and blues sites! We were sad to hear of Yvondelle’s accident, and glad we got to have a short visit with her at the rehab/nursing home!
We could not find anything at a reasonable price for our stay in Clarksdale, probably because of the weekend, and our only option was this comfort inn. It’s located slightly outside town, but that won’t be a problem because it’s just a couple minutes drive to the main attractions (bars and restaurants) The rate is quite low and they do offer some amenities: wifi, breakfast, free parking etc. However, the hotel seems to be quite old, and many of the amenities are malfunctioning. First of all, the guest laundry was out of service. Wifi was also not working properly, and I had difficulties in getting warm water for my shower. Breakfast is served with the usual hot/cold continental items, and as usual all over the US, all common rooms are chilly. Eat your hot items quickly as they chill out in seconds. We do not normally have too high expectations from medium-level motels, but this time I feel like too many things were not working properly to give a positive evaluation. The staff was kind and helpful.
Picture here is with a hole in the ceiling where there's no smoke smoke alarm. I'd say that that's a basic but critical concern and something that hotels should not overlook! The beds were good the room was good and breakfast was. There is a tile missing on the bathroom wall. Something that downgrades the look that they're trying to accomplish, that it's struggling to keep this place decent. They've got the granite sinks and nice looking tile but the grout seriously needs to be cleaned. What was light colored grout is dark grout. Something you'd expect in a dirty kitchen. The carpet that leads down stairs from the second floor is becoming worn from not being steam cleaned. Looks like the owners are just trying to milk this place and that's it. Most unfortunate because it looks much nicer two years ago when I was here.
We stayed 2 nights, lady at reception was very nice and accommodating. The first room we had had no wifi reception at all., The second room was much better. Beds were very comfortable, breakfast just the standard, good pressure in the shower. Close to town.
I recently stayed in a plethora of hotels and motels on Harley Tour around the South-Eastern States. Having spent the night in a very disappointing Quality Inn in Nashville the previous night, this one was a breath of fresh air. It was cheaper, it was modern, the room was large, the staff were nice and at $87 compared to $138 the night before, was excellent value. Drawbacks, it's not near the town centre if you are there to go to the blues clubs etc., but there is a really nice local cab driver (Jolly Cabs) which the reception can give you a number for. Didn't sample the breakfast but as-stated - hotel was modern, clean and nice.
This hotel is unbelievably terrible. The room smelled like strawberry incense. The carpet was filthy dirty with tears. The drywall was covered in patches, the ceiling above the shower had clear tape to hold up the water soaked drywall from leaks in the bathroom above, the tv had analog signal, no hdtv. We booked on Hotwire because of the reviews, but they were way off base. Even the local restaurants were aware of the ownership and what a dump this hotel is. Avoid!
I booked here because it was near the Delta Blues and Grammy museums that hubby wanted to visit. Upon checking in when we finally found it (because it looks deserted from the outside and the parking lot is a potholed mess), hubby was told by the clerk that "he had a funny name". I wasn't present for that. When we got into the room it was pretty generic and the t.v. didn't work. I was told that they were sold out for the night and that there was no possibility of a change of rooms. This was mid afternoon so that seemed unlikely. The maintenance worker came in and got the t.v. connected which is a good thing because there is NOTHING in this area to do and I wouldn't venture out after dark...also, that night people were walking by and looking in the window and I couldn't get the drapes to close, so that was weird. The clerk and the maintenance fellow also found it funny that we had to have the t.v. working because they were gossiping and giggling about us in the lobby for about 10 minutes, and I heard them. The shower worked fine, but after telling the front desk that we didn't need housekeeping that day, upon arriving back into the room later, I found that our shower curtain was missing. Hubby said that it was there when he had his shower earlier. I let the front desk know that we didn't take it and that it was missing, and the reply was "I'll bring you one." There was no response as to why they were in the room after I told them "no housekeeping." Also, the computer out in the lobby stopped functioning and I couldn't get it back on, after the printer worked once for me and then stopped. There was no explanation for any of this except "You're in the south", so I ended up driving to a sister property to do the research and the printing that I needed for this week. I was also in the midst of job negotiations with two companies, so this was important for me to have these tools. The breakfast at this place was also uninspired so I just had coffee both mornings. Also, guests were slamming doors frequently during the night and hooting and calling to each other, which kept waking me up. Bottom line, I would not recommend this place unless there is no other option in this area. There is a much better choice which I wish we had known about then. For $99 per night, this place is a disgrace.
Had to book this hotel last minute for a wedding that I did not know if I was going to make it or not. The hotel was decent. But it not have an elevator. Had to carry all of my bags up flights of stairs. They ran out of clean towels I had to go to Walmart to buy my own towels but I was an ok stay other than that.
Nice, clean place to stay for the festival. It was just far enough to where you couldn't walk to Downtown Clarksdale; however, it was a only a five minute drive to the downtown area. It was conveniently next door to a Dollar General Store and in walking distance to a few restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the FREE breakfast and the afternoon snack (fresh baked chocolate cookies) was a bonus!
