Pros -lovely spacious rooms with extra touches such a bottled water and aromatherapy sprays which I found very thoughtful -MASSIVE bed -friendly staff, no miserable faces from reception -happy to hold out bags and easy to check in and out -managed to find a room for us before check in time -free use of spa hot tub and pool Cons - not so much a con but a point to note, but the restaurant staff were clearly very flustered and busy and I don't believe they had enough staff on. Not marked down for it as they were still very polite and apologised for the wait etc. Would return and recommend
Good staff, rooms seem fairly consistent. Rooms quite hot, but mostly as you'd expect. Lunch a little poor in terms of choice, largely as there were few residents. Odd therefore that despite gold loyalty card no upgrade available, been regular here. Bed ok, room hot, ventilation loud, shower over bath ok. Long queues to check out, bit of a fag. Good hotel, few niggly areas.
Really nice hotel, well decorated and in the center of Chester. Rooms are well organised. Products for bathroom were really good as well as the spray for pillows to sleep well. Mattress was excellent!! Breakfast was good with plenty of choices.
Stayed here for a night after the races. Hotel was clean and staff at check in great. Everything you need from a hotel, comfy clean bed, hot fresh breakfast. The night we stayed a bit of trouble broke out and the staff reacted very quickly and professionally. It was quickly dealt with and staff were really attentive afterwards. Would definitely return, brilliant location too.
We stayed here for two nights, Chester being a particular favourite place to visit. The hotel was superb in every respect. Our room was spacious and overlooked the hills, the leisure facilities were very good and my wife enjoy the treatments on offer, the bar was well stocked, the team there very friendly and helpful. In short what was not to like? The location was perfect for the town centre, just a short way off, it provided peace and quiet but with east access to everything. Breakfast was very good, although one morning the stocks were down a bit, though fairly quickly replenished. We would certainly return to this hotel and think it is a bit of a hidden gem in Chester.
Had a 2 night stay with my wife and as a Spire member received a room upgrade and access to the Club lounge. Had a meal in the Stables Restaurant which was excellent and great value at £39.99 for two including a large glass of wine. Allied with the excellent location this was an excellent choice. Staff very friendly.
My wife and I stayed here over nine nights in August in an Executive King room on a B & B basis so had plenty opportunity to get an impression of this hotel. We booked online, but phoned reception afterwards and a very helpful young man allocated us a third floor room with a view over the Welsh hills, rather than the city and this was the right choice having seen, after we arrived, what the city view was like and the fourth floor rooms can be in the roof-space with coombed (sloping) ceilings. We arrived early evening and after a few wrong turns in Chester found the hotel and was a little concerned at the entrance which was in an under-croft and the area didn't seem too pleasant, however the hotel entrance and upstairs reception were very nice and the receptionist dealt with our arrival quickly, so we were soon on our way up to the room to offload our luggage. The room was very nicely furnished and very clean. The bed was enormous and there was very good storage, especially for us staying for such a period. The bathroom was of it's time, but very clean and adequate with nice toiletries - I think the hotel was built in the late 80's and is due for replacement over the next few years on a site across the road. That said, we couldn't fault the public areas as the lounge, bar and dining room were all very well decorated and furnished. The external appearance of the hotel may be a little off-putting and since the nearby bus station closed, you have to walk past it to get to the city centre - that said, it's only about a hundred metres up the road and the first building that you arrive at is the Town Hall, which houses the police station. We never at any time felt concerned about our safety when out walking. We ate breakfast each morning and found a more than adequate selection of quality food and likewise in the bar and dining room on occasions in the evening. The staff throughout the hotel are very hard-working, but always courteous and take time to have a word with you. I also used the leisure pool almost each day for a swim and use of the sauna and steam room and always found the facilities to be in a good clean condition and never too busy. The Club room is well used, albeit I found the canapes to be a wee bit limited and sometimes when they were gone...they were gone, though the staff were very good and allowed some time before and after the set times for the complimentary bar. O.K parking is £10 / night, but it was very convenient and that allowed for 24 hr parking on the days we didn't use the car. All-in- all, we truly had a magnificent time at this hotel and Chester is a beautiful city. .
We chose this hotel based on reviews and we also wanted somewhere central as we were there for just two nights. We travelled by train and had a leisurely walk down as it is only approx' 15 min walk away and we could also see some of the town the only slight problem in finding the hotel is that it is down a side street but the advantage with that is that it is quiet. The hotel it self is excellent with very well appointed rooms staff very efficient and friendly, the hotel has a Gym,swimming pool & spa if you are inclined to use the facilities plus a very nice restaurant and lounge. It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for with a nice room and bathroom excellent bed and a bit of a surprise if you want to watch some TV before you go out is the full Sky package. All in all we would definitely visit again.
Only stayed the one night on this occasion on a bed and breakfast basis via the website, although I did book an additional evening meal via the website in the mean time. There were a couple of minor niggles that were dealt with promptly. The evening meal was o.k. but as usual, the breakfast was superb. The choice, presentation and staff are beyond perfect. Well done yet again. The room, staff and facilities were good as usual. Thank you.
Hotel lovely and modern. The staff were also great (i lost a room key literally 5 minutes after arriving and they were more than helpful in sorting me out again with no hassle). Only negative was that the bed was a bit hard and the pillows were too soft for our liking.
