Clean, great value for the money Easy access, decent breakfast
I was in town for Mom’s Weekend at University of Illinois and stayed at the Fairfield Inn. This hotel is clean and updated with good amenities and location. But what set this hotel apart was the staff and service! The hotel management and staff put together several nice extras for the all moms who were in town including blue and orange gift bags filled with water and high quality candy, late night fresh baked cookies for when we returned from a night out with our college kids and mimosas added to their regular breakfast fare each morning! This I my seventh trip down for Mom’s Weekend but the first time any hotel has ever planned anything special for the event! Finally, on Saturday I inadvertently left the “do not disturb” sign on my door all day. When I returned that evening the cleaning staff had respectfully not entered my room to clean, however outside my door I found a lovely basic filled with fresh towels and toiletries! Such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture! This hotel itself may not necessarily be upscale or luxurious but the staff and service made this a five-star stay!!! Highly recommend!!
We reserved an Executive King Suite, which was advertised to have a king bed and a sofa pull out bed that can sleep two people. The sofa bed was only twin size however. I've seriously never seen a sofa sleeper this small! We had to change rooms to a standard queen room to have enough room for everyone to sleep, which was disappointing. Also, the hotel hot tub in the pool area did not have water, and we were not notified of that in advance of our stay. That was a highlight for the kids, who were disappointed when we got there.
The room stank of some perfume and the air conditioner was funky as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. my children's feet picked up noticeable amounts of dirt on their bare feet when they walked on the carpet after their bath.
It was a very comfortable stay and the staff was very helpful.
Easy access from I74. Several restaurants nearby. No USB port charging stations in room (big issue for travelers!) the bathrooms have been upgraded and are very nicely done.
I stayed 1 night with my daughter while vistiing U of I. the room was clean comfortable, nicely decorated. carpet was clean. we used the pool and fitness area. both were small but it was not crowded so it was fine. breakfast was typical hotel free breakfast but was good enough. was a very pleasant stay.
I stayed one night with my daughter while visiting U of I. the room was clean and comfortable and quiet, didn't hear any neighbors. the wifi didn't always work. We used the pool, hottub and fitness center, all small but we had it to ourselves so was fine. breakfast was ok, typical hotel free breakfast. No complaints!
I have stayed at this hotel three times and have had pleasant experiences everytime. The staff is always very courtesy and helpful. The rooms have always been clean and roomy. Very good place to stay.
