I am incredibly happy that I chose Bovedas during a quick trip to Cartagena. I couldn't imagine having a better stay. The room was surprisingly large, with two full bathrooms and an incredible pizza sized shower head that rained down like a waterfall from the heavens. Seriously! In such a hot city, this was very much appreciated. Being able to use the pool and fitness center at Sofitel next door was a major deciding factor in choosing to stay. It's difficult to find a gym in the walled area, so having one (albeit small) was a plus. Each and every staff member I encountered was absolutely amazing. The management obviously knows what they are doing, and hire and train the best people. Though not a deal breaker at all, the only setback would be the in-room coffee pods. If I read the mini bar pamphlet correctly, it seemed like there was a fee for using the coffee pods. I drink way too much coffee for this to be an option for me. Instead I opted for the buffet breakfast (an extra charge, but worth it) with unlimited coffee, and a great assortment.
We stayed in a duplex two bedroom suite with a beach view. The room was excellent in its decor, cleanliness, and design. The hotel is centrally located within a few blocks of all of the action and sightseeing in Cartagena yet on a quiet and cozy street. The service at the hotel is amazing. Jorge who is the service waiter in their restaurant is a wonderful person!! Highly recommend staying here.
We had a great comfortable renovated room. The room is modern. Th bathroom was quite small but nice. The breakfast was included and was really nice. The service was good and reliable. Great access to Santa Clara Pool and restaurant. The hotel is centrally located so everything was easy to get to.
We stayed at Bovedas for my birthday and it was such a lovely hotel & in a great location. Having access to the facilities at Santa Clara is a great perk as well. We used the pool & gym at Santa Clara as well as their pool bar. You can bill charges at Santa Clara to your Bovedas room so no need to take your wallet to Santa Clara. The hotels are not connected and you need to walk a little bit from Bovedas to Santa Clara (2 minutes unless you go the wrong way like we did on day one) so you will probably want to wear a cover up if going to the pool. We walked pretty much everywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived when I was having trouble paying the taxi fare (currency change over in place so bill of the same amount look different). The taxi from the hotel was 15,000 pesos (like $5 USD) and we had various bills that were confusing. We had a welcome drink and our room was ready, much earlier than anticipated. They also recommended and booked our dinner reservation for my birthday at Alma (although the reservation was lost but still not sure about that mixup). The mini bar was well stocked although be sure to check the prices because paying more for a bottle of water at Bovedas than at Alma was a bit shocking (same brand & size). I would certainly visit again. If there was one thing they could add, it would be a seat in the shower. We use a folding teak seat in our shower but for commercial use, I think a fold up seat attached to the wall would be helpful....or maybe I'm just used to being able to sit down in the shower.
If you search for a good hotel kids friendly, here it is. This is the good place. In the hold city, near restaurants and commodities. You can also use the pool of the Sofitel nearby to your end of day, to relax... just enjoy !
Room is spacious and looking over the ocean. Great breakfast, friendly staff, great use of the facilities at the Sofitel hotel including the pool and lounge area. Try Carmen for dinner, food is fantastic
I stayed here in September, 2015 and found the hotel to be in an optimal location. Located within the walled city, and walking distance to great restaurants, plazas etc. Although when staying at this hotel you were entitled to use the facilities at the Sofitel, I was too busy exploring and never did. My room was huge! It was 2-stories with so much space. It was nicely furnished and decorated and I found it clean. I stayed here on my birthday, and was totally surprised when I arrived back to my room at the end of the day and found that the hotel staff sent me something special to honour the occasion. The only thing I would have liked was to have breakfast included here. On the other hand, it gave me the opportunity to explore and eat breakfast out!
Staying in a boutique hotel in Cartagena's downtown experience is awesome. This particular hotel has a plus which is to be located right next to the historic stone wall with incredible views of the ocean, the people and the Bovedas. Their staff is well trained and the ability to use Santa Clara Hotel facilities give you the best of the two worlds: Isolation from the crowds and a great pool and spa.
We recently stayed at the Bovedas Santa Clara for one night and it was all too brief a visit. We truly enjoyed every moment. Our room was GORGEOUS with a view of the sea and it's own kitchen and sitting room. Truly it was perfect! The hotel also offers access to the Santa Clara Sofitel pool and spa which are great facilities. The breakfast at the Bovedas is delicious too and the welcome drink went down a treat. We mentioned that we had recently got married and the lovely staff organised to have rose petals all over the room and printed a picture and poem for us. It was truly so special! These guys really get the meanings of 'boutique hotel'.
Our room was fabulous. It had two stories and a wonderful balcony. The beds were beyond comfortable and the atmosphere is perfect. You are so close to the walls and can see the spectacular sunset just a short walk away from the hotel.
