We visited for the weekend to meet with family and friends and decided as it was our wedding anniversary we would stay in the city. We decided on the hotel as it is centrally located and not high rise. On check in we were upgraded and we had a lovely room with a big bed, dressing gowns, slippers and a fridge. The staff were friendly and helpful and the reception area comfortable and inviting. We had a great stay and would definitely stay in this hotel again.
We have stayed here three time's and are never disappointed. The room was lovely and was very clean and the pull out bed was perfect for our two year old. The only complaint we would have is that the bathroom is cold during night time but it was a very cold night when we stayed. The staff were all excellent and helpful. We had a bar meal there which was lovely and the breakfast was hot and plentyful with lot's of choice to be had. We will definitely stay here again.
Hotel is very nice and breakfast was good also only big downside is the location, no shops, restaurants near the hotel also nearest bus stop is on hill. Had a lovely stay in Cardiff, city centre is beautiful.
We just stayed overnight and were generally very pleased with the hotel . The only bug bear was the noisy clientele who noisily swear in the corridors at 4am !! Breakfast was all self service including a hot drinks machine, it was nice to have the added choices of hot chocolate and mocha. As check out wasn’t until noon we were able to leisurely get ready to leave. Can’t comment on the gym as we didn’t use it . Good to have free parking. Good powerful shower. Generally appeared clean
I stayed at this hotel with my Mum on a Christmas shopping weekend in November and it was part of an organised coach trip so we did not have a choice in the hotel. However, despite a couple of niggles we were pleasantly surprised and very much enjoyed our stay. There was an issue when we first checked in, in that the reception staff were not aware of the complimentary drinks that were part of the package we had booked. This was quickly resolved and although we didn't get quite what had been promised it didn't affect our stay. There were not a huge amount of seats in the bar area either. We had a meal included which was buffet style and was very tasty. Breakfast the next morning was also good. The rooms were fairly basic but had sufficient space, were clean and had extremely comfortable beds. All in all we had a great stay.
The hotel is a little tired in places. My room was ok, had everything I needed except an iron which I probably would have been able to get from reception if I tried. The bathroom was very cold and the extractor fan very noisy. The shower did not drain very well so had to cut my shower short. I tried calling reception several times to arrange a taxi but they did not pick up. When I did finally get through they arranged a taxi very quick. The hotel is ideally located close to motorway and to city centre- maybe a 15min drive to town. Overall it’s a case of getting what you pay for.
As a Club Carlson member, I expected the hotel I would get a room fit for occupation. However it was not until we asked for a room change did the receptionist offer a room without the noisy extractor fan (318- avoid until it is fixed). I was told most rooms were occupied .. it doesn’t take an expert to realise they’re running at less than 50 percentage occupancy! Barring one other front desk staff, most others didn’t even wear a smile in the festive period. So I’d avoid this hotel and not opt for a points redemption from this hotel again.
First time here and found it to be a really great hotel. Accommodation for what it cost was great value for money. Clean spacious and one of the best walk in showers I have experienced in a hotel at this level. They have car parking at the hotel, which is a real bonus. just remember to register your vehicle as they have a private company ready to issue tickets. Ate in the hotel. The only reason I am not awarding a 5* was the rather brusque way I was advised I was too early to eat unless I wanted to partake of a buffet. I asked what the buffet contained and was advised that it was a lamb and some chicken dish. Hardly inspiring so I decided to wait the 7 minutes at the bar before returning to take my seat. I enjoyed my meal (Pasta with a Bolognese sauce). Check out in the morning was swift and oh yes its good quality Wi-Fi connection ( free). would I return?? Hell yeah!!
I stayed here with my wife & 6yr old daughter while visiting Cardiff Winter Wonderland & Techniquest. A perfect location if you like being just outside the busy City centre. A family day ticket on the bus for £5.30 which takes you from about 200yds outside the hotel to the centre in about 15mins. We had a family room which was a good size & the shower was large & powerful. Staff were very friendly & helpful, the hot & cold breakfast had everything you could possibly want. This place seems to have a lot of groups staying which tend to go & party in Cardiff, who can blame them! As we have a 6year old we tend to fill our days & hit the sack early. So the only slight downfall for me was being woken up at 2/3 O'clock in the early hours by the party goers returning who had by the sounds of it had a great night out & good for them. I am a light sleeper & It didn't wake my wife or daughter, so no big deal. We would definitely return next time we visit Cardiff.
we booked here for a last minute Christmas get together not expecting that much as it was a very reasonable price. The room was very nice indeed and plenty of it, well cooked and hot which is not always the case a Christmas dos. I would definitely book again next your
