Booked a double room for one overnight stay, as had an early morning job interview. The gentleman on reception was extremely welcoming and helpful. We were asking about change for the parking meter, he advised us that it was FREE as long as we registered our car details with him, what a lovely surprise as the signage outside in the car park was quite pricey! The lobby was spacious and clean, we were given directions to our room and explained breakfast times etc. Our room was huge, one of the biggest we have stayed in. The room was very clean, bed comfortable, bathroom ample. Unfortunately there was only one comfortable tub chair when there was plenty of room for another (or even a sofa). There was a huge empty corner in the room, calling to be filled with another tub chair! This was not a massive issue though as there was a more fomal writing chair at the dressing table/desk for my hubby who as accompanying me on the journey to sit in. The room had air con as well as a fan alongside the bed, this was a great touch, although not needed. My hubby telephoned reception to ask for an iron, when he arrived at reception it was already there waiting for him, along with a full size ironing board - great service! We had an early morning breakfast as we needed to get on the road early, the dining room was large, plenty of seating and clean. Unfortunately the breakfast was luke warm, by the time we sat down it was bordering cold, we did not enjoy the breakfast for this reason and barely ate anything. Also there was lack of choice on the hot food side of choice... very disappointing. I don't fell able to grumble though really seeing as we only paid £43 for bed and breakfast and that was for the both of us. The room alone, free parking and friendly staff was well worth more than this. The location of the hotel is ideal for access to the M4 which was why we chose to book it on this occasion, I would book to stay here again, but next time ask for my food to be popped into the microwave for a few minutes.
The staff very helpful and friendly but make sure you register your car otherwise "Parking Eye" will try to FINE you. The rooms are good but be careful in the shower because soap can make the base tray slippy. The soap dispenser is at opposite end of the shower to the shower head and the base and drain means the soap is not washed away resulting in the entry area of the shower being very slippy. my Wife fell and it was only 3 months after she had a complete knee replacement. The basic design of the shower base and water outlet is dangerous.
Excellent cleanliness in the room. Appropriate friendliness of staff. The curry I had was exactly the right heat for me, and my partner enjoyed her fish & chips. Wine selection was good for this grade of hotel.
Stayed here for 1 night, I asked for a high floor and a quiet room and that is what I got. It was a very nice large room with a large bathroom. Very quiet. Is access to the motorway and to the city. I would definitely stay there again
Stayed here for 2 nights on business trip. Really friendly staff, hotel has a gym but didn't use. Room was nice and spacious, clean and comfortable. Shower was really good, which in my view is a key factor. Ideally located, close to all main routes. A socially active place with a small bar area and pool table. But not noisy. Good food. Lots of free parking, plus free WIFI. Job done.
After visiting Cardiff for a weekend wedding I was pleasantly surprised by this chain hotel. Despite what seemed like a lack of staff at times the staff that were around were very helpful. I slight worry was when we were issued our room key to enter and find someone else's bags in the room already! Room temperature was good and had a small air conditioning unit installed in case it was too warm. Enjoyed an excellent nights sleep on soft bed. A couple of large bus tour groups were staying at the hotel therefore breakfast looked like a plague of locusts had descended but the few staff that were on did their a good job at refilling but would have been quicker if more than 2 staff on.
Myself and my son travelled down from Consett for him to visit the experience and for me to do a couple of days fishing. I was worried when I saw the hotel as it seemed a long way from Cardiff Centre. Checked in easily with pleasant guy on reception. We had a ground floor twin room. Made our way and was thinking here we go when carpets looked a bit worn. Got to room and initially disappointed but it must have been me being tired. The room was great. Beds were heaven with a lovely mattresses. Had a lovely quiet nights sleep. Breakfast was fantastic with loads of choices. Overall happy with room and attached bathroom. Easy parking. Only thing putting me off staying again is distance to Cardiff Bay. Mind I suppose that's why it's so quiet at night.
So I will keep this review as short as possible because quite frankly, this poor quality hotel does not deserve the attention, albeit negative. Having stayed here on 3 occasions now, due to other local hotels being fully booked, each time has proved a negative experience. Dingy hotel with the most awful food . I tried the Fish &Chips on this occasion, thinking this was the 'safe' choice, however wish i hadnt bothered. I have travelled all around the world and I can be flexible and reasonable with simple food, however I couldn't even eat this. I have learnt my lesson, I will never stay here again.
Partner and I stayed night of 4/07. The young lady on reception was happy, polite and helpful. The room was super. Clean, large, with a huge comfy bed and a clean shower room. Breakfast was tasty, good quality and plentiful. Replenished often and the tables were cleared promptly. We'd happily use it again. Overall, a credit to the company.
This hotel has ample car parking, friendly obliging staff and adequate rooms. The problem is in the restaurant. The tables are too close together for you to feel comfortable and relaxed while eating Breakfast is a buffet breakfast with no service, you have to make your own tea/coffee and your own toast. This is particularly annoying when you have to queue to do this. It was not a pleasant dining experience. I did not use the restaurant in the evening, but noted that it is not open on a Sunday evening. If you want to eat in the hotel on a Sunday evening you are restricted to the Bar Menu, i.e. burgers and fries etc..The wine was indifferent. On the plus side it only cost £90 a night for B&B.
