Holiday Inn Cardiff City Centre

The hotel is ideally situated, on the Taff, near the Millennium Stadium, across from Bute Park where you can get a water taxi to Cardiff Bay. A short stroll out the front door takes you right into the centre of the City. The hotel itself is a bit dated, one of IHG's older properties. Reception is bright and modern but not everywhere is like here. My room on the 6th floor had been refurbished, pity the bathroom had not been done at the same time. The hallways / corridors are dirty and tired and really need a complete overhaul as do the creaking lifts. The sleep was comfortable but my room faced the roadway and was a bit noisy from early morning. Breakfast in the restaurant was good, the usual buffet fare, well presented and freshly cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will use again for its great location.

Hotel is opposite the castle , very clean , friendly staff ... offered a nice menu for dinner and breakfast ... Gareth bales bar is 50 yards up the road great vibe buzzing .... town behind the hotel is lovely definitely worth a visit

A typical Holiday Inn with standard rooms common to the brand. A little bit tired but not so much to put you off. Rubbish internet connection unless you want to pay through the nose. Car park is equally expensive. The food tries to be upmarket and is ok but as someone who spends a lot of time staying in hotels, I'm not fussed about posh, I want good food of reasonable portion size. Again, the food is on the expensive side considering the huge number of restaurants in Cardiff as competition. Breakfast was ok but only ok, nothing special. The hotel is placed near the castle which is nice but is a few minutes walk to the city centre - ok when dry, horrible in the rain. There are better hotels in the city.

+Nice hotel with good facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast and restaurant area. Location is excellent close to vibrant city centre, shopping and bars along with Principality Stadium and tourist sites such as Cardiff Castle. - Bathroom was a little cramped which led to water on floor after shower use. Would definitely use again

Nice Hotel, good accommodation, Good Menu, Carpark easily accessible "A bit expensive but so handy" City, lots to do,lots to see, Train Station nearby as is the Hop on and Hop off Bus, plus the water bus is 100mts from the Hotel. We had never been there before but will go back as we enjoyed our visit

Excellent location right next to the stadium BUT very noisy, there is a vent above the window you have to close to keep the noise out, only found this in the morning. Room was freezing and despite setting climate control to 22 c this didn’t seem to work. Checked in and paid the night before. When I checked out in the morning they asked for my card again. I had to physically produce my receipt to showed I’d already paid. Their IT is not integrated. I find this rather incredible in this day and age.

Centrally located, right by castle, high street stores. Walkable to train station. Room was okay, shower was hard to figure out. There was loud music during the evening coming from either another room or from outside

My daughter and I stayed at the Holiday Inn and were thoroughly impressed. The staff were superb. The room was 4* but the welcome/friendliness of staff and quality of the food made me rate the hotel overall as a 5*. We were able to park right outside for £12.

My wife and I visited Cardiff on Sept. 21-22, 2017, and selected the Holiday In because of its location - near the central train station and the Cardiff Castle. Except for a decent breakfast, there isn't much to praise about the hotel. Our room was small - even by European standards. There was no room safe provided and the room lighting was the worst ever for us in a hotel room. One wall sconce above the bed and a dim desk lamp. The lighting in the tiny bathroom was equally lacking. The sink and tub drains obviously need cleaning as they drained very slowly. Sometimes while traveling, a friendly bartender and a well-made drink goes a long way to canceling out objections, but not with their bartender. He didn't know how to make a martini - not kidding - and I walked him through the whole procedure, including which glass to use, how much vermouth, etc. The one thing he did know was to carefully measure out exactly one jigger of alcohol. One last point - this wasn't a bargain-rate motel at about $185 US per night.

Stayed here during a recent trip to Cardiff and was pretty pleased. We chose to stay at a Holiday Inn because you always know what you're going to get and we were satisfied with the stay. The location is great and the room had everything we needed. The staff were pleasant, the place was clean and if we ever come to Cardiff again we'd happily stay here.
