Stayed here while attending concert in Cardiff. A little far out of the city but taxi reasonable. Great food and service made this a great night Breakfast was included in price and was excellent using local products. Would definitely return.
We came to meet our northern family and to enjoy a Cardiff New Year celebration. The hotel party was at £85 pounds a little to expensive so we went into the city centre too enjoy the fun fair and the fireworks. Just brilliant!
We came to this hotel on New Year’s Eve through to New Year’s Day and the hotel wasn’t what we expected. We had a meal in the bar area as the restaurant was closed due to a private function, the waiter who delivered our food was rude, didn’t check if our meals were okay and made a sarcastic remark when I asked for sauces. Me and my partner understood the restaurant was busy, but the rudeness and unapologetic manner of the waiter for the long wait and bad service made us both feel like we where troubling the staff by ordering a meal!! If the staff didn’t have time to serve the bar as well as the restaurant they shouldn’t of opened as they made us feel very upset on a night we should of been at our happiness. The hotel is very lovely inside and the room was perfect, the spa had no changing rooms but the receptionist informed us the spa was being improved which we had no problem with. Unfortunately some of the staff really let this beautiful place down!!
My husband and myself had a fantastic time at this hotel, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend and we can't wait to return in the near future.
Our first stay here and only for one night but the staff were brilliant and very responsive to our needs. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was delicious and the portions were huge. The suite we stayed in was very spacious and the bed was amazing but the bedroom was slightly colder than we would have liked because there was only one radiator and it was in the living space but we would definitely visit again and would thoroughly recommend to friends and family.
A tired 4* hotel - adequate but it won't set the world alight. Location it's best feature. Room smelt of tobacco - despite signs threatening £250 fines to anyone who smoked there. Public areas rather cold. Main restaurant closed during our visit.
Hi enjoyed a wonderful few days. Great service and my room lovely my breakfast was good. Only the toaster had problem. I used the pool, and sat by a fire in lounge later. And to the gent who helped with suitcase on arrival.thank you.
The title says it all, so welcoming, felt so at home. Lovely facitilites and fantastic food. Will definitely be back. So good to find a good a hotel that also allows dogs. But is upmarket and clean too.
Christmas Eve afternoon tea Our family booked afternoon tea for 9 people at the beginning of December. Since the city centre is very busy and parking is a problem this time of year we decided to give the Copthorne a try. It’s out of city centre location made accessibility and parking easy for our large party. We turned up on the day and for some reason they weren’t expecting us! No record of the booking! This was handled with a positive attitude from the front of house who told us ‘no problem, we can arrange this’ as he instantly made arrangements to accommodate us. After a short wait by the cosy open fire our party of 9 was then seated! Our waiter (Rob) was excellent from start to end. His service was polite, attentive, friendly and he even made us laugh with the appearance of some festive headwear at one stage! Staff can make or break the restaurant industry and Rob really is a credit to the Copthorne brand. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. The food Within a few minutes of taking our order a nice steaming pot of fresh coffee was sitting on our table. The coffee was very good. Shortly after, our afternoon tea towers arrived! These were fantastic! Fresh finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, mince pies and a fantastic selection of small cakes. These included a chocolate log style cake and a chocolate cheesecake which were both delicious. A slice of bara brith and a Welsh cake completed the cake selection and these too were delicious! Extra coffee was also served and again was lovely and hot! This December I’ve had afternoon tea in Barkers Tea House, The Celtic Manor and The Copthorne Hotel. Although all were extremely good, the Copthorne was the winner for me. I’ll definitely be back!
We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package for Christmas Eve so that we could relax and enjoy some quality time together before the chaos of Christmas sets in. Check in was seamless and we were allowed to check in an hour earlier than expected. Room upon entry however, had a very unpleasant smell to it. Open windows and perfume soon addressed that. The evening meal was lovely. It was of a great quality and tasted divine. Both my wife and I truly enjoyed the dining experience. We booked a twin room due to my 6 foot 8 inch frame as most hotel double beds are too small. The beds in the twin rooms were tiny! Even my 5 foot 3 inch wife stated that they were more like a teenagers sized bed. Shocking quality of sleep due to this. The breakfast was of a great quality and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Nice! The pool facilities were taken advantage of too. Nice sized pool, large Jacuzzi and decent sized steam room. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. It only got 4 stars due to the, in our opinion, tiny twin room bed sizes.
