Everything was excellent. We had an amazing experience. Breakfast was incredible, wine tasting amazing....definitely will be back soon. I recommend buying some wines, considering them all of them are really good, specially the chenin blanc.
Great experience with lovel, spacious rooms, delicious food and wine, and exciting eagle encounter. Good also that Spier has two jogging trails and nice pools. Both parents and kids were very happy with our stay and would like to come back.
Organized an international conference at Spier and it was enthusiastically rated by participants from all over the world. I added time following that with my children and one-year old grandaughter. Everybody had a fabulous stay. Outstanding quality, service, and attentiveness.
Had a great time. Best wine tasting tour (Susan was very knowledgable). Friendly and helpful hotel staff. Very good location with access to more vineyards and stellenbosch city centre. Will definitely go back again.
What a lovely place to stay! We were looking forward to the wine tasting but Spier has so much more to offer. The rooms were real luxury and there is a fabulous walk around the estate where you can look at the art, walk past streams and through a wooded area, do the swim/spa thing or just sit out with a glass of wine. We were worried about our daughter being bored but they had a kids club, a largish pool and Eagle Encounters at the far end of the estate was brilliant for getting hands on with the birds, seeing the piglets or meeting the dayco. Restaurant and bar service seemed a bit disorganised and we had to keep asking for missing or forgotten things but that was the only minor criticism and everything else was faultless. Stellenbosch was a lovely place too and we really enjoyed the museum set in four different houses and furnished according to the era. Definitely a highlight and we could have spent longer there.
We had a great stay! My 5 year old loved meeting the owls, snakes and lizards at the Raptor centre on site and the kids club. We enjoyed all 3 restaurants specialising in home grown organic produce and wine tasting. Lovely place for a couple of nights on our Garden route trip.
we greatly enjoyed the stay at Spier, especially the 8 restaurant, the braai at hoghouse (best ribs and beef burnt both ends ever) and real Espresso for Breakfast . Nice rooms and a very relaxing property. You feel the sustainable approach without missing comfort
My husband and I were travelling around South Africa as part of our Honeymoon and friends had recommended Spier Hotel and we were blown away with how incredible it was!!! On first arrival we were greeted by the friendliest of staff and told every bit of information we could have possibly needed for our stay and also given a glass of wine while we listened!! Very good start!! We were then driven in a golf buggy to our room which was fantastic!!! Very spacious and opened onto a beautifully manicured garden which we almost felt that we had to ourselves! We had lunch at the Hogshed and this was amazing. When the sun eased off a bit we ran the 5k route around the grounds and worked up an appetite for dinner at the main restaurant. The food and service in there was again, amazing. We even got some wine-based cocktails at the bar. Early the next morning, before the sun got too hot we ran the 10k route. This has fabulous views around the estate but be warned, the first 5k is quite hilly!!! Breakfast after the run was fabulous and then several hours by the pool in the sun were just what the legs needed. In the afternoon we did the Segway Wine tour which was a lot of fun and I highly recommend this. We had another fantastic meal on the second night and I have to say we were very sad to leave Spier but we felt like we really made the most of everything that was on offer at this fabulous hotel!! It may take a couple of years but we will definitely be back!!!
Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, arrived checked in and bags taken to our room without fuss. Room was excellent and had a lovely open gas fire which was great as it was cool in the evening.
The second stop on our two week tour of the Western Cape was at the Spier Farm resort hotel. Was such a wonderful surprise. Three nights of luxury in a beautiful setting was absolutely perfect and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There was more than enough to do on site and we added in a walk around historic Stellenbosch and a Vine Hopper tour.
