The place looks amazing it is a shame the bar service is slow. On a number of occasions they have run out of produce so some cocktails are unavailable not something you’d expect at such a high rated hotel. Still probably worth a visit but maybe try the other hotels.
From the moment we arrived the one & only staff were excellent. The service from the front desk to maids and management was fantastic. The only possible negative was the grey pool area, I’m just old fashioned and like brighter colors in the sun.
Whereas I usually have a high opinion of the One&Only chain. I think that in Cape Town they don’t meet expectations. They just cannot compete with all the lovely boutique hotels and high standard bed and breakfast’s around. It is massive, there is no nice place to sit and work, and whereas the service is impacable, it is not very personal. In short not my cup of tea.
Two friends and I visited this hotel for dinner and drinks. We went to the restaurant, Nobu, which definitely lived up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Cape Town. However, our dinner was far from the highlight of our experience. After dinner we ordered drinks from the bar and asked the bartender, Archie, to surprise us with his favorite drink. Instead of just making us the same drink, he asked his two fellow bartenders, Luba and Stephen, to also make their favorite drinks so that each of us would have a different special drink to try. The results were incredible, including fire, house-made alcohols and flavorings, and elaborate decor. In addition to their remarkable talent, Archie, Luba, and Stephen were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area informing us which bars to head to next. I will definitely return to this hotel, if not for the drinks then just to say hello to my new friends Archie, Luba, and Stephen!
Its all in the title, I went with my boyfriend and his family to their homeland a few years ago and we stayed in this lovely hotel. We had stunning views of the Table Bay mountain from our room, the room was huge and had a beautiful bathroom. We often ordered the milk tart sundae which was amazing and we enjoyed the pool area. We went on leisurely walks into the shopping mall which was a 10 minute walk from the hotel and had some delicious meals in the hotel. The hotel staff were courteous and friendly, we loved talking to them and finding out about them. The gym was great and we enjoyed daily workouts. Overall I really enjoyed staying in this hotel and found it very stunning.
Fantastic Hotel, excellent staff, excellent service, you must go to Cape Town it is one of the best places I have been too, and there have been many round the World......The Hotel has a fantastic view of Table Mountain and walking distance to the V&A Harbour, with some fab restaurants....
Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are superb and have the breathtaking view of table mountain. The spa treatments are good. We found the pool area a bit cramped, but the hotel is well located for walking around the V&A area and general local exploring. We hope to return next year.
The One and Only Hotel is SUPERB in every single way! Each staff member greets you with a genuine happiness and a true desire to help you enjoy your stay. From reception, to concierge, to waiting and bar staff, to housekeeping and poolside staff, truly a credit to themselves and the hotel management team. The breakfast buffet is beyond description, there is every single thing you could possibly desire, no matter where in the world you come from. The rooms are luxurious in every sense of the word, with pillow, bath and scent menus. We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and were given the most beautiful gift of sparkling wine and gorgeous chocolates ... such a treat! On the day of departure our flight was late evening, and even though we had to check out of our Marina and Table Mountain view room, we were given another lovely room for the rest of our stay until we departed at 6pm ... truly generous and very very much appreciated by us. We dined at Nobu and had a fabulous night. The afternoon tea with live music was just perfect. I really could go on and on as it is truly the best hotel I've had the pleasure to stay in.
Had an amazing stay here. The staff are so friendly, the breakfast is fast and if you can get a seat outside provides a perfect start to the day. The concierge was of the most helpful I’ve ever come across. Managed to get into the Nobu at short notice twice which was lovely. We had a room with a table Mountain view which was just spectacular (worth trying to get a room on a higher floor) Only negative, and it’s such a shame that this happened on checkout; we had requested a late checkout well in advance and I appreciate hotels can’t confirm this until the day before (pet hate but it is what it is). After chasing them several times they eventually told me that the hotel was fully booked... however on checkout I was sat next to a couple who had turned up on a whim and asked if the hotel had any rooms available. Magically they were assured that they had 8 empty rooms! Hate being lied to ... Other than that downside it truly was a perfect stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
We got done in with the weather at JFK NY but One and Only made up for it quickly. A well appointed modern comfortable hotel in a great central location. The breakfasts including omelette chiefs were great. Short safe walk to the seaport.
