We were disappointed because we thought we were booked into the other Gran Caribe. This hotel did not have sufficient chairs by the pool and at 6 a.m. The chairs were already all reserved. The pool area was loud and active not what we were hoping for. The food was not great, the variety was limited. I cannot eat fish and almost every dinner menu was ninety percent fish. The beef was not tender. The room was nice and the resort is clean but the quality of the food is important to us We came to celebrate our fiftieth anniversary but we checked out on the fifth day to spend at least a couple of days being pampered.
The hotel is good on its drinks and food in the restaurants belongs to GR Caribe and the neighboring Royal Solaris owned by the same owner. The bathroom or shower design is bad and each time when you took a shower, you will wet the floor of the bath + the rest room areas due to the small or narrow size of the plastic/glass separator. Due to strong wind, only one day out of a week we can do kayaking and never got the chance to do snorkeling on the island of Isla Mukeres.
Really good hotel with all the amenities included. The only Cons are that the wifi in the rooms is very deficient we couldn't complete a work that we have pending due to the wifi connection is poor
good hotel, but beach even nicer. Lobby really small and breakfast buffet was the same, so it was really annoying to always go to sister hotel next to it where all the fun and better buffet, restaurant, show and etc. Why paying more and spend all the time at the cheaper sister hotel? if i have to stay next time i would pick different hotel from sister hotels
Everything from the staff to the amenities was very good.
All of the employees work very hard to ensure a great time! I would stay here again.
Weather was great for a tan. Pool was very refreshing.
Went to Cancun for a quick weekend get away - this was our first time doing an all-inclusive & it was great. Perfect location right on the beach, the hotel/resort was very nice, the service was really good. The rooms were comfortable & clean, the grounds were very nice, and the service was great. The restaurants were decent, our favorite was Bogavante, we had the same server, David, 2 nights in a row and he remembered what we had to drink the previous night. We spent most of our time and the beach -- they could use a few more shady spots. The pool looked nice, and never seemed to be too crowded.
This was my 4th time visiting GR Caribe. It is a nice, boutique hotel with beautiful beach. The hotel has a quieter feel, but you have a lot of activities available to you. The food and amenities were fantastic, as always. Will be back again!
The hotel, staff and variety of food offered was excellent.
This was my fourth time at GR Caribe. It's a smaller hotel, so if you are looking for a huge, sprawling, loud resort, this is not the place for you. I went once with my husband (we are in our 50's) and 3 times with girlfriends...this place was perfect for us! Since it's not very big, you can take the stairs from your room and be on the beach in under a minute. If you are looking for a livelier atmosphere you can go next door to the sister resort where you are able to enjoy more restaurants,a larger pool and activities and nightly shows. There are a couple of restaurants in the GR Caribe....as well as more in the sister resort. Their menus change daily, so be sure and check out what their theme is every day. We were happy to see more Mexican cuisine this time, with the "Fajitas" menu. They have also added a salad cart.....a traveling salad bar that the servers bring to you and they assemble the salad tableside. The food overall is pretty good, The ingredients are fresh, there are plenty of choices...the dishes are carefully prepared and presented, it's obvious that the chef takes pride in his/her work. Breakfasts are wonderful, complete with a made to order omelette/waffle/pancake station. The hotel staff is top notch....EVERYONE is friendly and helpful..we especially enjoyed our server RICKY...he was friendly and attentive and made our vacation extra special! The nightly entertainment is fun, be sure to check out the Latino, and Mexicana shows, the dancing is fant
Staff was very kind, activities and animation were good . The only thing was that we asked for a room at a high level, and we had a room near the lobby , quite noisy.
Very enjoyable and comfortable setting all around. Close distance to the beach and all the restaurants. Good for families too. Also, at first glance the beach is very clean, but after a closer look a lot of cigarette butts, bottles & plastics (spoons, drinking straws, bottle caps and cups) are scattered all around. Resorts allow the visitors to enjoy their drinks in full comfort & convenience on the beach, which is a wonderful gesture of service. People come from all over the world to enjoy this paradise and scenery. However, it's as wonderful to proactively conserve the beaches (and its wildlife) for future generations. Ideally, every visitor and local resident should be encouraged to exercise personal responsibility by cleaning up after themselves & disposing of all the trash they bring to the beach. Please help with this mission by providing more trash bins, closer to the sun beds and by posting signs in encouraging ALL to dispose of their trash properly. HELP US KEEP MEXICO BEAUTIFUL – CONSERVE PARADISE & ENJOY YOUR NEXT VISIT AGAIN Local buses run very frequently and are tourist friendly. Inexpensive (Around $0.50 per person, per ride) Stay away from taxis that are totally overpriced for tourists. If doing to any major location, it’s definitely accessible by air-conditioned bus. Don’t waste your money on taxis. We took a local bus to playa Del Carmen without any issues.
The staff was wonderful! The pools and the kid slides were fun for my kids. Enjoyed my time here with my family.
A very enjoyable vacation. Great Staff. Good variety of pool areas. Very nice beach. Exceptional food options.
This is my second trip to Mexico but first time staying at hotel zone. Compared to my last trip this resort was much smaller. Below are some pros and cons. Pro: - everything was close by due to the size of the resort - no one bothered us about timeshare - being able to use the sister facility was extremely important Con: - food needs major improvement (buffets, restaurants) - hours of operation for all restaurants could be better - resort not too stroller friendly and there are not always ramps available
We have stayed at Gr Caribe many times. The staff is great. The rooms are big and comfortable. The entertainment is nice, This is a great place to come and relax. It is good for families and couples. Food is good and drinks are included.
From the time we arrived till the time of departure they couldn't do enough for you. Heated pool, hot tubs, clean conditions inside and out. The beach in front of hotel was manicured each day. Will go back!
Typical of many all inclusive hotels in Cancun, this one was very nice but not as attractive as internet pictures project. They do pressure you to attend a time-share presentation but did not pester us after we declined. They do offer some services and amenities to time-share members that they do not offer to normal visitors, which I suppose is reasonable. Food and drink was just mediocre, but there was a good variety to places to dine and selection of foods. Drinks were served in small plastic juice glasses, so needed to be refilled often. Some people brought their own large drink cups which was smart. Beach was well maintained each day and facility was clean and well maintained. Many of the floors and walking surfaces, especially around the pool were very slippery and many people fell while we were there. Most staff were very friendly and helpful, but tipping seemed to be not only welcomed but expected. We went through about $200 in tipping during the week. So bring lots of $1 and $5 to tip with as the hotel will not make change. Public bus downtown was very convenient and cost $1 U.S.
