The only "queen" sized bed I've ever been able to lie on and reach over both sides, so I don't believe it is one. As well, the bathroom is entirely impractical - a really strange mirror situation (a mirror fitted into the bottom half of a window, with glass over both halves of the window - making the whole mirror foggy and impractical for doing make-up and hair. A truly weird set up. I suspect from reading other reviews that this is not the case for other rooms (eg mention of good bench in bathroom ... but I got nothing; no one else has mentioned weird mirror) but as a regular traveller to Canberra I won't be risking getting this room again!
I had stayed in Canberra for a weekend getaway last week, and had hired a car, so had booked via the Accors website this hotel. Getting there was easy from the airport, check-in was quick and although I took some time to get to my room, was amazed when I was upgraded to the courtyard king room. It is a split level room, bed upstairs, downstairs featured the lounge, dining and kitchen area. The staff were great and it had a very classic but stylish feel. The hotel is a place I would come back to again.
Great hotel, lovely staff, you will need the short walk to town after the very generous breakfast. Room was large and comfortable. Very charming hotel, restaurant food was outstanding. The room I had on the first floor was quiet. I will be going back to Canberra again soon for a holiday and will be staying here.
The deluxe king loft with balcony cannot be faulted, we booked for birthday and anniversary celebrations....... the only thing that lets this hotel down is being able to clearly hear another's conversation whilst upstairs. Quite the mood killer when next doors children is involved. Just saying ;-)
An older looking building, but inside all modern and very comfortable rooms, particularly in the cold winter months. Connected to a 'pub' and as a result, great pub food and bar service available. Much better than other Hotels, as the cost is realistic to eat and drink. Close enough to walk to central Canberra shopping, need to drive to other locations, except War Memorial. Ive stayed in about 10 Canberra Hotels, this is the best value and home like of them all.
Stayed here last weekend for 2 nights, room was good, nice big shower and amenities, first night no problems the second night I get woken up at 3am by the phone ringing and then the door being bashed on until I got out of bed, to be spoken to rudely and told a noise complaint was made lol. After waking up a bit I called reception and asked what the complaint was about apparently snoring! I have stayed at hotels all over Australia and around the world with thinner walls than this place and never had a problem, yes I snore but really! Awful customer service and nope wouldn't recommend to anyone else, will stay at the Crowne Plaza from now on.
The front desk staff went out of the way to help with directions and whatever question asked. When I entered the room the heater was already on & the room was very inviting.... I was a bit disappointed with the waiting staff at brekkie must have been that particular busy day.
We stayed in Canberra for five days and wanted to be within walking distance of the city centre and also close to the AWM. The hotel may be old but it has a real atmosphere and the staff were very helpful. Our room had a real homely feel about it.
My wife and I spent a week in a queen room. Large room with spacious bed. Good shower and toilet area. Lighting ok. Balcony to inside area. Tv on wall. Hanging space is a dresser. Coffee making in a seperate cupboard with fridge. The best feature is a large room which can be heated well. Room to move around. Breakfast was good. Recommended place to stay. We enjoyed the room and facilities in
We enjoyed our stay here. The service was excellent in all areas. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Great shower and high enough for 6'6" tall person. Older revamped accomodation which was a nice change. It was lovely to look out into the courtyard and see greenery. Breakfast was included in our last minute deal and it had a great range of food and again the staff were wonderfull. All in all, a very good spot to enjoy the amazing things on offer in Canberra. We will be back !
