Coral Tree Inn

This hotel is in the middle category in my opinion. What is good is its location not far from city centre. The staff is very helpful, too. What could be improved is some noise killing roofs and other measurements that could kill the noise fram the hallway to the rooms. Every little move or door opening or closing goes straight through the thin doors and disturbs ones sleeping. Also the breakfast offering is very basic.

Stayed here in December '17 and Jan '18 in between my diving. Was very comfy and quiet. Reception staff were helpful getting tours etc organised.Rooms were clean and regularly cleaned. About 150 metres to the esplanade so great location as well. Highly recommend if you are looking for something relatively cheap yet tidy.

The hotel is located only 10 minuetes walk from the main pedestrian street and espalanade. The receptionists are friendly, rooms are okay. There is also a grill on the territory, so you can cook if you want. The swimming pool is not big, but deep enough and clean. They sometimes provide breakfasts $30 for two, so if you do not want to go for breakfast anywhere you can buy it there. Please be aware that the hotel does not provide free bottles with drinking water (instant coffee and tea are provided).

My father had stayed at the Coral Tree approx 20 years ago and felt it was good value for himself as a pensioner. We stayed for 1 night on 20th Dec and were pleased that my partner with disabities had a fully accessible ground floor room.Staff were very helpful, breakfast was included and was provided in an immaculately clean breakfast bar and was plentiful.Would stay here again after some awful stays in more modern hotels.Yes the furnishings are a bit old and I'm not a lover of 2 single beds pushed together to make a double, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the support we received.

I enjoyed my stay at the Coral Tree Inn. The reception team were friendly. I had a good sized room, with good aircon. The shower was hot and powerful - a must for me. There is a fridge in the room. Although they do charge for bottles of water, but I just got my own from a store. The hotel is in a good location - you can walk to the water and the shopping centre etc. I was using Cairns as a base to go to the Barrier Reef and Rainforest so it was ideal. There is however no lift - beware if you have lots of luggage. I only had breakfast one morning - it was ok, nothing special - you can get better in the local cafes.

Centrally placed, about 3 blocks from railway station (for Kuranda), and the Esplanade and restaurants in the other direction. We had a good-sized suite with separate sitting/TV room, an intermediate kitchen/prep area, and bedroom with well-presented comfortable king-size bed and a bath/shower area. The balcony gave a pleasant view on the lush tree-lined courtyard and pool. We were on the third floor so needed to lug suitcases up. Receptionist helpful with directions, and booked our trips for us. Lots of choice in dining room at breakfast, fully cooked and/or continental, with helpful attentive staff, seating plenty inside and several tables outside.

Not sure how much we paid to stay here as it was part of a package so can't comment on value for money. We were only staying here for convenience (as a place to rest our heads having arrived in Cairns late evening before moving on the next day). However, first impressions were not good and certainly didn't match the travel brochure description of a "charming little hotel offering excellent value and the perfect spot to relax at the end of the day". When we arrived there were people in the outside patio area doing what looked like a DIY barbecue. The smell was dreadful. We also had to drag our luggage up (and back down) three flights of stairs (no lift), which was a chore. This is not a 3* hotel (as described in the brochure) - it's more like a motel. Very basic indeed (albeit rooms were clean), no lifts (so if you can't carry luggage upstairs you need to make sure you ask for a ground floor room) and no reception from after 9.30pm until 6.30am. Some staff friendly and helpful - others much less so. As I said, I don't know how much we paid to stay here (guess it was budget) so no idea whether it was value for money or not (you get what you pay for) but had I realised what it was going to be like I would have insisted on staying somewhere else.

This spare and basic inn is not for the Four Seasons set, but draws a sizable international crowd. There is no elevator, so be prepared to hoist your bags upstairs. There were three hangers in the closet of the simple, clean room and no luggage rack. Rooms do have balconies, big screen TVs, fridges and coffee makers. Older visitors or those with knee issues would be advised to ask for a room with a simple walk-in shower, as the tubs are extremely high and difficult enough to enter as to be nearly treacherous. All that being said, the Coral Tree has the feel of a tropical inn of the past, with a pleasant courtyard and grotto-like swimming pool. Front desk personal go out of their way to be helpful and will make reservations for tours and transport. The inn even provides a thatch-roofed barbecue and picnic area, as well as a self-serve laundry room. The esplanade is just a short walk away and the location is good. And, there’s free WiFi. If you’re fine with just the basics, you’ll be pleased with the Coral Tree.

I have now stayed here twice and find this hotel great value for money. The staff are excellent. The only negative thing I have to say is that this time we stayed our mattress's were of poor quality you could feel all the springs on the bed. This was not the case the first time we stayed. Overall a great central spot to stay in Cairns

I really enjoyed my stay at Coral Tree Inn. It's a bit of a walk from the central station and the wharf, but I'd say it's worth it. It's a quiet area in the city and there are no loud noises at night. I had my best few nights of sleep in ages. The room was clean and nice. You're provided with a safe, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, kettle, tea and coffe, mini fridge and free wifi. The staff are helpful in booking shuttles to the airport if needed. Would definitely stay here again.
