In the middle of eastern Iowa, is a gem with a strange name. Catfish Bend does not make you think of a luxurious resort. Although the name is ambiguous, you will not be disappointed with the quality and diversity that you experience at this incredible resort. We stayed here for our wedding night. The room was as good or better than any room that we have stayed at in five star resorts in Las Vegas. There is really something for everyone. The property has a waterpark, a Panera Bread, a go cart track, laser tag, a large arcade, a candy shop, a casino, an indoor tight rope area for kids, a top-notch spa with hot tub and pool, a night club, a coffee bar, etc etc. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay here longer as we had a flight to catch in Chicago for our honeymoon. Trust me...... you will want to visit this resort in the middle of nowhere Iowa.
Edge water grill so depressing. No color or atmosphere. Food terrible and cold. Location in lobby is ok. But very dark. Different color on walls and hanging lights or something. Casino inside had some fun slot machines.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Catfish Bend Inn & Spa. It is one of the two hotels that are part of the Pzazz resort complex. The Catfish Bend Inn caters to adults; as such is was peacefully quiet. The rooms are ample in size and nicely appointed. The bed provided a comfortable night’s sleep. What we particularly liked was the bathroom which is a large wet room; it’s size was almost spa-like. The staff was very helpful and did a wonderful job catering to the guests. Because the hotel pool was closed, we were provided passes to Huck’s Harbor Water Park If you’re looking for a nice relaxing stay at a quiet, cozy hotel, give the Catfish Bend Inn at try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
We stayed at the Catfish Bend recently and were impressed with the comfy bed, the amenities, and the Pzazz arcade for kids. Not being gamblers, the casino didn't attract us. Though the casino is rather small (compared to Cripple Creek casinos in Colorado as well as elsewhere around the country), the complex is quite large with meeting rooms, restaurants, pools, arcades, and other features. Since we were with a large group, we ate elsewhere except for breakfast which we had at the casino. The breakfast fare was varied and quite nice; you can even get omelettes 'made to order'. Though a small coffee maker was in our room, a coffee bar was on the first floor by the registration desk with large dispensers along with cups, lids, sugar, and a variety of creamers. A very pleasant stay.
Overall best place to dine. Lots of choices so there is something for everyone. Staff is friendly . And of course the catfish is awesome . Be sure to save room for dessert. They are only open Thursday thru Sunday.
When arriving the place is so easy to get to. Right off of route 24 about 1 block. Our check in was a breeze and the attendant nice. The room was fairly big and everything was ok. They have a lot to do here a casino, large conference room, snack bar, small café for buffet breakfast and a large play area for kids too. Also a indoor waterpark though we did not see this so cant really comment on it. There is some construction going on it was no bother and looks like it will be nice when done. Overall a very nice stay.
It was recommended to stay at the hotel. But I was warned, "be sure you stay in the new part". This place is currently under construction, but the updated section of the hotel is really nice and the room was updated and clean. The bathroom is upgraded and very modern too. I had a mini fridge and microwave in my room. Coffee in the lobby in the morning. You also get a free breakfast buffet every morning during your stay and the casino is small, but something to do if you want some entertainment. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
When our kids were young we used to visit the fun city side which is awesome for kids...games, laser tag, bowling, water park...ect. For our anniversary we have returned to the adult only side for our anniversary a couple times. The 60 minute massage at the spa is awesome!!! The walk in relaxing shower after the massage is the most amazing shower ever!! The room is comfy and beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. Highly recommend it for a weekend getaway...unfortunately we were not winners at the casino but I can say I played an hour and a half off 20 bucks so I call that a win😀
Thought we had booked a room at Catfish Bend adult only hotel but ended up at Pizazz hotel on the other side of the complex where the kids waterpark was. Had to wait about 2:30 for our reservations to go through. The girl at the desk "comped" us with breakfast buffet coupons since we had to wait so long to check in and we had no need for the waterpark tickets that came with our room. Be sure when booking on line you know which hotel you are getting. The room at Pizzazz was worn and had a bit of a smell but was clean. It was also quiet until the construction crew started at 7 am. This would have been a great buy for someone wanting to take their kids to the waterpark; not so much for a retired couple.
Stayed here for a conference at the hotel. My room was on the 21+ side and the room was very nice. Bed was comfortable. The room was stylish, sheets were very nice and the internet was fast. Breakfast was included with the room and it was very good. Also managed to win a few dollars at the casino playing nickle slots.
