We stay at this hotel because it is the best! it is central to everything in Budapest. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly, breakfast is very good with lots to choose from! cooked food, cold meats, sweet danish, fresh fruit, I could go on!!! and another thing it has got the best Goulash ever!
Very nice hotel. Good location but the food is not that interesting. The maid was perhaps too keen on cleaning as she came one day on three occasions between 8-10 in the morning. So good to remember to use the sign if you would like some privacy ;)
Lobby was very nice. We had the buffet breakfast which had a great assortment. Rooms were dated but very clean and had a good shower. If I had my choice I would have spent a bit extra to stay closer to the Danube. Not very many restaurants near the hotel and the area could look a bit seedy
long weekend in Budapest staying here, check in was very slow 20 mins, we were on the 3rd floor rooms that had not been refurbished so tired looking, no hot water, then the shower floods the bathroom everytime you use it because of poor fitting shower screen thus dangerous and a waste of good towels to mop it up
Recently stayed at the hotel for my business trip to Budapest. As usual everything was very good. Only improvement area is the Buffet Breakfast. The Live Kitchen was closed...dampener, half the food stalls were empty although I wasn't late to reach. The Business Class room was upto my needs & helped in comfortable sleep though...very imp.
Had a wonderful stay at this property. Oliver at the reception counter was very hospitable and efficient. Breakfast spread was good....but tended to be monotonous as it was the same spread every day.On the whole, staff were courteous and polite.
nice staff, gradually renewed floors - those after reconstruction looks rely nice and modern; not at first time here - staff on reception or waiter on bar remember me, so i feel like at home; hotel situated close to the centre or Margaret Island - opportunity for walk
This is hotel a big disappointment. I rarely have to write reviews like this, thankfully. The four of us were expecting a fabulous hotel but have gotten treated poorly and the room is a disgrace. First we were ignored when we walked up to the reception desk by the young man, Oliver, at the check out desk next to the reception desk. He was waiting on another customer but did not acknowledge us, did not make eye contact, just ignored us. We looked at him for acknowledgement but got nothing from him. One of our friends in our party, having waited a LONG time, made a sound like a bell to get someone to check us in. He was hoping that maybe there was someone in the office behind the desk who would come to help us. Instead of getting the help, we got a nasty, arrogant remark from Oliver! Later and finally he came over to us and again was nasty and so rude that I started to read his name tag for his name. He rudely said it was Oliver and continued to be confrontational to our husbands. We are all in our 60's, professionals and well traveled. We have stayed in many fine hotels around the world and NEVER have we been not greeted in a friendly professional manner and always treated with respect when we arrive at a hotel. We were very insulted by this young man and so I feel like Radisson needs to know who they have representing them. This young man is a disgrace to Radisson. He was so nasty and confrontational when he asked me if I wanted to speak to his manager in a very challenging way. I said I would love too. The manager apologized to us for Oliver's behavior and sent us each a bottle of wine to soothe our ruffled feathers. I told her that Oliver needed to be retrained and maybe should not be working with the public. So we thought that our disappointment was over with this Radisson Blu hotel in Budapest. Nope! Time to eat and it was after eight P.M. and two of us had worked all day, which was an hour's drive away and we were all hungry and tired from a long day and had to get up at the crack of dawn to drive an hour to get to work. We went to the hotel restaurant, Olive, for dinner but no one was at the desk, no waiters in the restaurant but there were a few customers at tables. We looked around and waited 20 minutes and then I looked around the hotel for other restaurants. Only a bar with desserts was there. I asked the young man at that bar for recommendations on where to eat dinner since there was no having dinner at this Radisson and he was very helpful and kind. So big disappointment #2 with this hotel. They are understaffed and obviously have a personnel problem. Disappointment #3 was our room. I have enclosed photos. The bedside lamp cannot be pulled away from the wall any further and is sitting on the bedside edge of the nightstand! I don't relish the idea of being hit on the head with the lamp while I'm sleeping so I tried to find where I can disconnect it from the wall. No such luck. The non smoking room smells like cigarettes, there are people talking in our bathroom when it is empty (ha, not ghosts but sounds from an adjacent room) the picture above the bed is creepy, ugly and dismal and torn in two places (this is not a shabby chic hotel), there is only ONE outlet to plug in our computers and phones, and the wallpaper is separated from the wall. The room is small and you cannot get past the person sitting at the desk because it backs up to the bed. Just an AWFUL experience and Radisson should be aware and ashamed of themselves. What a dump. My husband is a Gold member and stays at Radisson hotels a lot and says this is not his usual experience. Oh lucky me having this be my first AND LAST experience with Radisson. So far, my vacation in Budapest is not starting out well since we just arrived here tonight.
We were very pleased with this hotel. Close to tram and metro, located not far from the Opera. We got a nice spatious room at the 6th floor. Lots of staff and great service. The food at the hotel restaurant surprised us. It was really good (we ate there 3 times). The only thing that keeps us from giving the hotel a 5 was the breakfast. It was definitely OK, just not superb. Never used the pool due to maintenance. The average age of the guests is probably rather high but the hotel was nice for us who were travelling with a toddler.
The Radisson Blue is centrally located. It is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. It is also walking distance to the Parliament Building on the Danube. The hotel offers a fabulous breakfast buffet.
