This is a wonderful gem. The service is wonderful - when we missed our overseas flights and needed to delay our check-in, they thoughtfully waived the charge. Helped us with calling taxis. There seem to be 2 buildings connected, so you sort of weave your way around to find some of the rooms. Our room was the larger "junior suite", so it had a window looking out - no view. Decor OK - rather stark, but everything very clean and new bathroom. No door to bathroom makes it awkward for some people sharing the room. The lobby is an old style, but very pretty and useful for meeting folks. Desk staff just lovely and helpful at all times. They've found some gems there who value service. Breakfast was very nice with a wide selection of fruit and hot dishes. Nice pool. Some renovation evident in the hallway, but no trouble. Never heard a sound of construction noise.
The hotel on the whole is very clean, all the staff were helpful and efficient. However, one day our room was not serviced at all, the bathroom sink leaked so we always had a wet floor. (Maintenance would fix it before the next guest, lucky them) My friends room had a hair dryer that didn't work. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and well presented.
Stayed for 4 nights. The room was quite small on the 1st floor. A little bit tired for a 4 star, broken bedside shelf. No kettle. It had a coffee machine that we couldn't get to work. Breakfast had a good selection. The hotel was close to all the tourist attractions. Nice swimming pool etc.
the room was quite nice, with a view in the inner yard, clean, lots of utilities, also fit for persons with disabilities. the food was excellent, even if I'm not a pretentious eater, I can recognize a good menu from a poorer one. and the city has so many things to be seen that I have to take more trips to see everything.
I stayed there for 2 nights. If you looking for a good located hotel this is perfect. Even the train station, parlament and nice restaurants only 5-10 mins walk. No need to use any cab. Breakfast is really good. Good selection. The restaurant is great too. Good wine selection and nice hungarian food. Only problem was at the night I woke up and it wasn’t any cold water from the tap both night.
Stayed for 4 nights. Arrived very late at night and staff at reception were friendly and efficient. Our room was located on the first floor , large room with view out onto the main street. Breakfast each morning was excellent, plenty of variety and food constantly being replenished. Staff at reception very helpful with tips on how to get to various sights in the city. Can purchase tickets at the hotel for the spas in the city. Excellent location - only 3 minutes walk from St Stephens Basilica and approx 10 minutes walk from the Hungarian parliament building - you can practically walk to all the sights! There was also a small ice-rink on the top floor of the hotel (great views of the city) but we didn't have the time to ice-skate. The pool and hot tub were fabulous and never crowded, also has a sauna and plunge pool. Enjoyed staying at the hotel president and would most certainly stay there again!
So I booked this hotel at end of December and had been watching the reviews go on over the last few months and was getting very nervous as people were complaining a lot! Well first of all I booked a normal standard room and I decided to upgrade as I wanted to treat myself so I sent an email and was happy to be told yes I could and it would be €20 a night I was very happy with that, I arrived at around 10pm at night the man on the reception was very nice and helpful gave me a map of the city, pointed in direction of room! I stopped in 145 just off the courtyard so had a outside facing window, the street below was a bit noisy but normal city noise. The room was very clean and tidy, yes okay it is 2 singles pushed together usually called zip link beds most European hotel beds are like this, bed was comfy! I agree with another review that the sheets could do with being bigger to fit the bed fully and not just to the edge. Had a coffee machine no kettle tho! You get 4 pods for machine after that they charge you €1 a pod but I was quite happy with the 4 I had, mini bar yes is a little expensive for Hungary but no more than most hotel prices. Breakfast was a highlight! Never seen such an array of choice and all good quality I went a different times over the 5 mornings and was always well stocked! Staff were polite and kind and helpful and there is a cheeky glass of sparkling wine if you fancy too! To summarise a good quality hotel and for the cost which was roughly £320 for 5 nights I thought it was brilliant! I do think that maybe having a superior room over a standard has made this review good, I have worked in hotels for 18 years and have been to and seen many round the world and this is a good hotel, The spa was clean and very nice as well
Stayed for 4 nights. Room was cold. Requested blankets from reception, advised they would bring up. Nothing for 3 hours so back down to be advised they had run out. Offered extra duvets. Went out and in return extra duvets. Again down to reception to be advised no spare. Asked if they could take duvet from empty rooms. Waited for 20 mins and duvets arrived. Reception advised heating system broken. After speaking to other guests they advised had heaters. At Spa asked for gowns and advised they had run out. What is it with this Hotel? Workers fixing rooms on corridor which they started at 8am. Bathrooms small but have everything needed. Rooms generally small. Spa lovely. Breakfast good with plenty tables. Bar staff friendly and helpful unlike reception staff. Mini bar expensive. Hotel near attractions and handy for metro.
I have just returned from a 3 day stay at this hotel. I booked it as a birthday trip for my boyfriend and booked as it seemed a central location, and a modern hotel with a spa. There were positives to this hotel. Firstly, the location is great. It is close to restaurants, bars and walking distance from most areas. There is a metro station close by and an abundance of cabs every where. The area feels safe and is well policed. The reception area of the hotel is very nice and it have very nice spa facilities, towels included. However the website says you can hire robes for the spa and when I tried to do so, I was told I could only have one ‘if there were any left’. It’s a shame that a spa hotel doesn’t include these as standard in the room, which I would expect from a 4* hotel. I did not book breakfast as we had planned on going out each day however i think you can add this on at the hotel if you want. There is a lovely little coffee shop next to the hotel which is cheap and cheerful and very nice. The famous strudel house is about a 7 minute walk from the hotel too. Now, if the bedroom has met my expectations then I would probably stay again but unfortunately it really didn’t. We stayed in room 122. In first glance the room was nice, it was large enough for us with a patterned wall and what looked like a large bed. The bathroom had a lovely walk in powerful shower. However there were a lot of problems with our room that really brought my opinion of this hotel down. Firstly I would expect a double bed in a 4* hotel however the beds were two singles just pushed together. The bedsheets did not fit the bed and were not large enough to tuck in therefore wrinkling up as soon as you got into bed resulting in my sleeping directly on the mattress at times. This was not hygienic and was uncomfortable. There was a mattress topper which was way to small for the two beds pushed together and again this led for uncomfortable sleeping. Our air conditioning vent was falling off the wall and was leaking all over the ceiling. There were holes in the wardrobe door and bathroom door and the bathroom door handle fell off. There was a coffee machine in the bedroom which although was a nice touch, once you had used the 4 complimentary capsules, you had to pay for each additional capsule after that time. There was no alternative hot drinks making facilities which again I would expect in a 4* hotel. I’m saddened that the condition of the room dampened the trip as this was a special occasion and I am unlikely to return to this hotel.
The only good thing in this hotel is the perfect location for us, but thats it. Very expensive and the staff is the worst I ever seen. Budapest is a good place but not in this hotel, so we dont't go there again.
