Hotel Orion Varkert is a small, excellent hotel, ideally located close to the Castle and the Gellert baths. The rooms are fine, breakfast copious and very nice - as is the service, especially polyglot Lajos.
Located on a small street on the Buda side, close to the Elizabeth Bridge. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are fine for a city break. Tiny bathroom but clean and the shower was good. Excellent value and would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Budapest.
This hotel is located in a very quiet street, but still well within walking distance from both the Buda and Pest center areas. Pros: + Location + Friendly and helpful staff + Cleanliness Cons: - Poorly soundproofed rooms: you hear everything in the rooms next to or above yours. - Extremely small bathroom. Too small for comfort. - Breakfast: the fresh made eggs are nice, but for the rest not recommendable. There isn't even real juice, the mini croissants and bread are very dry and not really tasty.
We stayed here for 5 nights. We had a 5th floor smoking room which had no odor whatsoever. It did have a balcony with a view of Gellért Hill and the Danube (if you peered around the corner). The room and bathroom were of sufficient size and were both clean and aesthetically furnished. WiFi easy and reliable. The breakfast was very good with choices of fresh fruit, dry cereal, breads cheeses and meats, yogurts and eggs cooked to your liking. Cappuccino or good coffee as you wished. All you can eat for the eight euro. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is on a quiet street one half block from the Danube. Light rail is one block away as is bus stop for many buses heading across the river. It took us 5-10 minutes (bus #5) to get to “downtown”, depending on traffic. The hotel is on the Buda side of the river where it is quiet and uncrowded. An easy walk to the Palace complex, the Chain Bridge and Rudas Baths. Easy light rail to Gellért and easy bus (105) to Szechenyi Baths. Hotel Orion Varkert is a definite bargain and an excellent choice.
A nice little hotel, conveniently located between the Buda Castle Hill and Szent Gellért Monument. We arrived by train, got the info and bus tickets from the public transportation office at the Keleti train station, hopped on bus number 5, after 7 stops and a short walk, we arrived at the hotel, about 25 minutes total. Our first impression of this hotel was just so so, but that changed gradually and when we left, we were happy we picked this hotel! This hotel was not like a big chain hotel, it had a local feel with local service which grows on you. Some of the highlights are: - Location: Walking distance for both Buda and Pest sides. We only needed transportation from the train station and to the airport - Great services: Hotel staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was good and fresh, we enjoyed the eggs made to order - Room: Clean and quiet. We had room 35, a corner room with big windows that we could see the nearby church. Although the room was small, the windows made it feel open and airy. We enjoyed sitting and resting by the windows after a long day of walking and sightseeing. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Orion Verkert hotel and would recommend it.
From the moment we arrived until we left, the hotel staff were all lovely, very accommodating and helpful. The hotel room was a nice size, comfortable, clean and quiet with air con and wifi. The breakfast selection was varied and the famous omelettes were delicious. The hotel is on the Buda side and in our opinion the best, with gorgeous night time views of the houses of parliament across the river just a short walk away. Surprisingly the price of water in Budapest was expensive so we took advantage of the bottles of water available to purchase from the hotel which was much cheaper!
The room is run down, the wall paper and ceiling paper is separating from the wall. About 8 euros for breakfast, my advice go elsewhere for eats. The location is great. The wifi does work very well. True-the bathroom is very small, but at least functional. Just above a Motel 6, and far below a Holiday Inn. Orion, get your act together and get your rooms remodeled, just providing a bed and towels is not nearly enough. How anyone would rate your hotel above a 3 star is being far too generous.
Nice breakfast, nice and clean room, airconditioner was nice there were lots of options,, wi-fi was great, and staff were also helpful and polite. Location is also close to the sigthseings. It is really good hotel for travellers, and also not expensive.
the hotel is in the buda side of the city which is perfect as it is central.gillert thermal baths are just a walk away and so is the nearest bridge is to walk over to the pest side of the city... staff are very friendly and very helpful.everything u need is provided in the room and are very clean... would totally recommend this hotel if visiting budapest😊
Stayed for 3 nights in a room on the fourth floor overlooking a courtyard and a church. From the angular shaped windows could see the tower of the Royal Palace on one side and the Gellert Hill on the other. Nice clean good size room with plenty of hangers in the wardrobe. The bathroom is on the small side with very little space for toiletries. Good, simple breakfast in the pleasant dining room with eggs as you like it option included. There is no lounge as such other than a settee in the small reception but it never felt crowded. Friendly staff helped us with shower hose replacement and set up an ironing board in the back room. Didn't use the gym and the sauna as there is so much to see around the place. Spas, museums and galleries are all in the walking distance along the semi pedestrianized street. Trams and buses are all very close. Time and money saving tip. Avoid queues at the funicular and use the free escalator and lift in the palace garden. Great views at the top of Buda Castle.
