Excellent location very close to Heroes Square, Andrassy Avenue ( the Champs Elysses of Budapest). Close to Szecheni spas, Museums and public transportations. All "must see" easily accessible. Very quite area.
the hotel had all the basic necessities. there was a very unpleasant woman working the front desk. when we asked how to get to the river her response was "turn left, then walk." well, ok then. just felt like we weren't very welcomed by her. the other hotel workers were very pleasant. room was clean.
The reception area looks good, clean and tidy. This hotel caters for quite a few conferences, it’s a shame this changes as you move up the floors to your hotel room. Our room was extremely dated, 1980s decor and not all that clean. Our room had blood stains on the wall, dirty marks next to the bin on the wall and a great big hole where some plumber has needed access to the pipe system. The bathroom was again dated with a small bath and the shower running from the bath taps, there was no wall bracket for the shower head either so you have to hold it while you wash. If you like a hard bed this is for you, I prefer a little comfort and not the feel of a concrete bed. The air conditioning was bit rattling, so it was better to have that off and just get a little hit at night, I love the heat but that’s not for everyone. Some off the hotel staff were pretty rude and blunt, not really customer friendly but this was not true of them all.
The hotel is quite average, the size of the room was ok and it was clean, although the bathroom and the furniture is old. The walls are very thin, so it can be quite noisy. Breakfast was quite expensive for what it was offered, but it was ok. The hotel is on a good location. Metro station is very near, 5 or even less minutes walking. Also the heroes squere and the park where hop on hop off busses stop are near as well.
I stayed at Benczur Hotel during a conference at the end of August and found everything perfectly adequate, despite some of the reviews on this site. The service was very helpful and the waiters went out of their way to be helpful to us and our group throughout our stay. (Our group had all meals at the hotel.) Our room, presumably a 'superior' one, was quite large and had a balcony, and was scrupulously clean. The location is excellent - very close to Heros' Square and the City Park.
The hotel is good for the price and has a breakfast buffet, free wifi and indoor and outdoor seating. The rooms are clean and have a good size and the staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel is a 15 minute walking distance to the zoo and a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro station (Bajza utca). This means it is quite easy to get into the city centre either by metro or on foot. I would definitely recommend this hotel. (On a side note, the tap water contains quite a lot of chlorine so I wouldn't really recommend drinking it.)
If you like 1960's Eastern European wood chip styling then this is the place for you. Lulled in to a false sense of security by a presentable reception and restaurant area this was soon dispelled by the unfriendly and unhelpful reception staff who couldn't even be bothered to direct us to the correct lifts or assist when we queried them about how to use the room safe. The room must be about the worst I've stayed in. Cheap cord carpet and a nice line in wood panel around the novel top to tail twin bed setup and a lovely brown floral tiling to top of the bathroom. Sheets and towels were clean is really about the only positives I can add. Buffet breakfast was basic but passable. If you like grim prison cell chic then this is the place for you.
Okay-Good hotel but get the room with a cheap price. Close by the metro and very clean. Not a hangout hotel. One minus was that the walls are very thin so you hear everything. Breakfast also little bit too expensive so we didn't have it at all. I recommend the hotel to the budget travelers.
I am really not clear hiw they have 8 points in booking fir this very poor hotel. I first should say that the staff is really rude and impolute. No idea how these guys are still working in there. Maybe they dont get earn much. The room is very simple..old with very old furniture and TV. The bathroom is terible. The shower is just like a phone. You should hold it whike showiring. Hate it. But the awfull is the attitude of the staff both on the reception and in the restourant. Not to mention the lobby bar..the bar attender never was on the bar i was always lookinv for her to order a coffee, because the coffee in the breakfast is absolutely not drinkable.
I had been travelling Budapest and was after a bit more luxury so decided to go with a nicer hotel and pay more than I usually would. I decided to stay 2 nights with my partner and also get the buffet breakfast. The whole time we were there the air conditioning was broken or constantly turned off by reception even though we had repeatedly mentioned our room was roasting (36degrees +) as the weather had been very hot. We had asked for our room to be made up and we did not receive fresh towels or toilet paper though we did require some. The bed (2 singles put together) was rock solid and your better off with an air mattress. The staff we checked in with were pretty unfriendly and not welcoming which wasn't the best start. The breakfast was pretty ok but they don't replenish everything very fast so one day I arrived an hour before the end and at no point did they put out any bread for toast. All in all it's a pretty budget hotel, good in a pinch but would not make it your first choice.
