Danubius Hotel Astoria City Center

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We stayed here for 5 days between November 7 and November 12. The hotel is right in the center of town, within walking distance to Keleti RR station and a few blocks from the Danube. There are bus and streetcar stops close to the hotel and a subway stop right at the intersection in front of the hotel. One can easily walk from the hotel to the riverside and up to the Chain Bridge, the Parliament and the Margaret Bridge. The hotel itself is old and somewhat out of style, but the room was clean with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean and modern. The wifi (free) worked well. It was good since our view is that a hotel room's main purpose is as a place to sleep, shower and change clothes. The breakfast that was included was good, providing a filling start to the day. The staff was helpful, especially the front desk clerk on the day we checked in, and the room was made up quickly and efficiently. Our only complaint about the staff was that when we checked in, the bellman began loading our bags onto a cart to take up to our room without asking us. This seemed to be too forward and possibly pushing for a tip. All in all, however, I was very satisfied with having booked this hotel and with the rate I paid.

This conveniently located hotel is showing her age. But the staff was very helpful with directions, finding us an electrical adapter and arranging transportation. The bed was comfortable, but amenities were few. This worked for us as we were not in the room much.

Wonderful hotel! I stay there every year. Charming and great location and great staff.

Great location next to metro, bus station, and tram. Many grocery stores and restaurant around hotel. Easy to walk around very safe at night. However, hotel itself is very old! Rooms need new furnitures especially mattress. Great varities of breakfast,

The room was nice, but the air conditioner was leaking, dripping to the carpet. Then we moved to a different floor, the hallway

Limited amenities. Old furnitures and quite small

Budapest is well worth the trip and this is a great location within the city.

The locatiion at Tha Austria metro makes getting any where a breeze. But it is centrally located so you can walk to many places. English speaking staff were a delight.

Hotel lobby and hallway areas are rather dark; not good first impression. Room itself is satisfactory with remodeled bath. Breakfast is very nice. Not quite best location, yet very convenient to metro.

Great location in Pest. Walking distance to most Pest attractions. Good price.

The hotel was perfect; location, staff friendliness, cleaned rooms and amenities. The restaurant food quality and service needs improvement: poorly prepared food.

Nicely placed next to Astoria subway stop, easy walk to Central Market and Danube.

We adored everything about the Astoria in Budapest. We did not quite know what to expect, as sometimes what you see on-line and what you actually get are two different things. Not here! Everything was wonderful: the location, the hotel staff, plus a very nice restaurant downstairs. Highly recommend to anyone who is going to Budapest!

Hotel with classical style: rooms are quite large and with good interior but there's no wi-fi, available only in the hall.

I stayed at the Hotel Astoria for 5 nights recently and had a lovely time in Budapest. They offer the option to upgrade to a deluxe room, but I stayed in the standard room. The room was clean and a very generous size for a European hotel room. The hotel is right above the Astoria metro station and the 47/49 tram runs right next to it, so it is fairly convenient to get around the city. It is also only a short walk from the river. I did not have the 15 Euro breakfast, since there are many coffee shops and bakeries in the neighborhood. With the windows closed the room was quiet, but on Friday and Saturday nights it could be a bit loud outside if you wanted to keep the windows open. The biggest drawback to the hotel is the lack of free wireless in the rooms.

Excellent hotel with excellent service. Excellent location. Excellent breakfast!

nice location, very professional helpful staff. room was a little small and dated but not bad considering the great price. ornate and lavish lobby area makes up for it too. :)

The lobby decor and restaurant were worthy of four stars. The hotel room while neat and clean reminded me of a motel room from the 1960's. The cleaning staff were pleasant but the front desk staff were ice cold and never broke a smile. I don't expect them to be my best friend, but they were totaly indifferent and didn't even ask about my stay or a thank you when I checked out.

our4th time.convenient room.excellent breakfast.walking distance to vaci st. danube river and more .adjacent to metro ,important advantage in rainy days

The staff wss friendly and helpfull. The hotel was everything i expected. Great location, Breakfast was great (cost extra but worth it) rooms were clean comfortable. Wi-fi was not free and i kept getting logged off the internet.
