The hotel itself is really nice, and so is the room and the spa facilities. But cleaning of room was really bad. The bathroom was not cleaned any of the three days we stayed at the hotel, and this goes for both the rooms we had. We complained about this in the reception, but it was not taken care of. Furthermore, we kept being disturbed by a man who each day came and asked whether we had used anything from the minibar...one day he showed up twice...at both rooms! This should either be dealt with by asking when checking out, and if lack of trust, then cleaning personnel should look for that when in the rooms anyway
The island is very nice, the location is good but quite far from the city centre (45-60 min walk). The hotel has many facilities including spa, sauna, massage, anything for a relaxing time. There were some issues with the room service, staff knocking early on your door even though the not disturb sign was there, our room was not vacuum-cleaned during four days until we requested it. They also did not always change the glasses or forgot to replace towels after taking them away. So the service could be improved quite a bit. It iwould also be good to have more time breakfast on weekends as guests are asked to leave at 10am. When asking at reception, staff were helpful to give advice and taxis were organised immediately.
I enjoyed the spacious room and the facilities in the room. Room service was also excellent, the bed was comfortable and I especially loved the large shower area. One issue that could be improved is the temperature set in the room which was too hot to sleep.
Stayed a week for a conference. Room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice little balcony, but the shower (no bath) sometimes only dribbled hot water in the morning and the air conditioning did not seem to be turned on despite the fan running. Room service was good but only came 4/5 days. The spa is conveniently located, but in early October it was full of guests in their 70s and 80s. The older aged guest population, combined with the hotel's 1980s/90s decor/style, gave the whole hotel a mature feel. The breakfast selection was on the better side of European breakfast buffets, but like many things about the hotel it was sometimes hit and miss. Some things were excellent, but when I ordered a soft boiled egg, I got a glass cup with a partially scrambled egg in it (all fully cooked). The restaurant in the sister hotel next door was the best dinning option (as everything else on the island had closed at the start of October): the food was decent, but not cheap. The Margit Island was a lovely spot in the middle of the Danube, but it was expensive and difficult to get into downtown Budapest from there (only 4 miles/6 km but that took 30 minutes by taxi and cost at least $15 USD).
All good, apart from food.Breakfast poor and coffee/bar menu expensive.Understandable as rather a captive audience on the island.Transport links to city are good, number 26 bus and island park is attractive
Wonderful all around. Excellent room, nice spa and pools, beautiful paths to walk and a lovely fountain show at night. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable experience at Danubius. Our room was upgrade to quite on the 8th floor and was very spacious. The dinner in the Grand Hotel dining room was tasty and the entertainment was excellent.
Only problem we had was the stifling heat in the hotel. Fabulous place otherwise. Thank you for a lovely stay. The island is a beautiful place to wander around lots of lovely little areas and cafes for a beer or a coffee and snack. The dancing singing water fountain is wonderful to sit and watch.
As always we have been staying at your hotel while in Budapest. We enjoy the surrounding, hotel amenities, the excellent staff services and the unique offering of the spa facility. Recommendations: We would enjoy better pillows in the bed.
The hotel is a great place to relax Spa was excellent but found it to be a little remote to get into the main tourist centre My room although very clean and tidy was dated and in my opinion in need of modernisation - that said I had a great time and staff very friendly especially Thomas who was a legend in the bar
Staff warmed up after a while. There should be a shuttle bus provided by the hotel between the hotel and the city center. Some of the front desk people and bell boys are ok but others not so good. Food quality including juices at breakfast needs to be better. Only Monika from spa staff was friendly and very helpful.
