A group of friends were embarking on a river cruise starting in Budapest. Friends had stayed at this hotel years before and raved about it so this was where we began our trip. The location is spectacular - our room overlooked the square of the St. Matthias church and there was easy access to all the sights of Buda. The reception staff were ok, they didn’t go out of their way to be friendly but they did their job. The breakfast was fine, nothing fancy but the staff in the breakfast room were pretty grumpy. The rooms were basic although seemed to be clean. The overall impression of the hotel is that it is really dated and could stand to be updated. I loved Budapest but can not say the same for the Burg hotel.

could use a bit of renovating already but the location is perfect. basically one can stay in the same place as the Hilton, possibly the most beautiful location in Budapest. apart of the little bit worn furniture everything is excellent for a 3 star hotel. clean, friendly, stable staff. breakfast is ok, nothing fancy but good. probably the best price/location/value ratio in Budapest.

Excellent location. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental with a good selection. Friendly staff, also greeted when entering and exiting. Could find any fault with it at all. Would stay again.

Visited here for 4 nights but was not enough to do everything we wanted, came here back in 2009 with parents and kids was beautiful then in summer, February much colder as we expected but wasn't a holiday..more of a to do list, hotel staff were ok, room was fine, breakfast was lovely, the city, well, that speaks for itself and very easy to get around once you get your bearings, but a ticket for public transport, underground, tram & bus it's well worth the value around £8.00 for 3 days ,& you can jump on & off as many times as you like & if you miss one there's another within 5/10 mins which tells you when it's arriving via electronic screens at the stops, much needed system England could do with & prices. Will go again but on different circumstances & in the summer.

I booked this hotel for our trip to Budapest. Was also part of my husbands birthday. We were late on arriving due to a delay and had telephoned ahead to advise of this as the hotel had arranged a transfer however on arriving to the airport no transfer was there to meet us. Got to the hotel and was blown away with the spectacular view. However this is as far as it goes. The room was basic to say the least. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room and no information for the traveller in the room. Bathroom was again basic and the toiletries were again all in one wall dispenser. I wanted to have a bath one of our nights after getting soaked during the day only to discover no plug!! Breakfast is continental and if you aren't there early don't expect any eggs! Some staff were friendlier than others. The views from the hotel are spectacular however be prepared for the hike down to get across the river and once you are down you have the climb back up again. I would return to Budapest however would stat on the Pest side of this beautiful city.

I stayed at Burg Hotel in Budapest last week, I went with the girls for a 3 night stay and the hotel was lovely. Old fashioned but was cosy and clean. The staff cant do enough for you and are very friendly. The breakfast was nice with a wide variety of food and drink. The view from my room was amazing of St. Matthias Church We went and saw the Christmas market which was beautiful, you must try the Sweet Side Café for their amazing hot chocolates, Beef Haven is not far from here and there is a smaller market to see, Café New York for breakfast and in the market closest to the hotel TG Italiano for dinner. If you come out the hotel and go left there is a lovely Italian restaurant Osbudavar Pizzeria, that does amazing pizzas. Go right and you have Jamie Oliver's Italian as well where we went for cocktails after a long day of seeing the sites. The Szechenyi Thermal Bath is a must but take a dressing gown with you as very cold when you get out!! And also you have to visit the Budapest Eye in the main market as well, you get some fantastic views from here! All in all a wonderful city brake! would defiantly recommend to family and friends!

Spent three nights here perfect location opposite Mátyás church in Buda. Easy walking distance to all major points of interest and bus tours. An excellent selection of restaurants within a short walking distance. Hotel staff very helpful and fresh breakfast each morning. I would recommend getting the hotel to organise a taxi to meet you at the airport.

It is in Buda part, has magnificent view of the square. The hotel is out dated. There is no lift. Our room's carpert wasn't the cleanest did look like they had vacuumed it much! Basic room. Had issue with water in bathroom, every time tap turned on would cause toilet to make noise!! Breakfast was ok, didn't keep replinashing what was used. Coffee wasn't great! Location is far away from main area of Pest, you can walk down to Buda area about 30 minutes or take funicular with a charge.

This hotel is shabby but very clean . Don't book it if you're looking for somewhere smart. .but if you just require somewhere to sleep that's very clean this is fine. The position if this hotel cant really be bettered, talk about fairytale. The staff are great too , helpful and friendly .

The place where is located is like in fairy tales, but if it would be not so well located, I think nobody would go in. The hotel inside is a disaster, dirty and old. The staff from the reception is the best, they balance the quality of the service. But for the lady from the breakfast room, i recommend to find one different job, where she dont need to be in contact with the people, specially with guests who pays hard money to spend wonderful days is one beautiful city. Bay the way, i spent 5 nights there and three mornings in my breakfast, is not enough, that was very poor, i found hair(I dont want to specify what hair) and in the omelette egg shell, I missed my appetite.
