The place where is located is like in fairy tales, but if it would be not so well located, I think nobody would go in. The hotel inside is a disaster, dirty and old. The staff from the reception is the best, they balance the quality of the service. But for the lady from the breakfast room, i recommend to find one different job, where she dont need to be in contact with the people, specially with guests who pays hard money to spend wonderful days is one beautiful city. Bay the way, i spent 5 nights there and three mornings in my breakfast, is not enough, that was very poor, i found hair(I dont want to specify what hair) and in the omelette egg shell, I missed my appetite.
A comfortable room with a magnificent view of the square and st. Matthias temple. The rooms are very simple but have all you need. The staff is excellent and the breakfast prepared with care. A very good value for the budget traveler.
This hotel could not have been in a more perfect location, in a picturesque square on a hill looking out over the city. Across the square was one of the oldest churches in the country. The staff was extremely helpful including getting up at 3 a.m. when we had to check out to catch a flight. The breakfast was huge with lots of choices. The only thing making it less than perfect was the linen, with some spreads and sheets really having seen better days.
Very well located on the Pest side of the river within the castle grounds and very near to a multitude of places to visit, eat & drink. Good clean accommodation, nice breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. as most visitors return down the hill to Buda area it becomes your own place in the evenings.
I stayed there in Oct 2015. Overall I am very happy with my stay at this hotel. My room was $55 per night and had a beautiful view of St. Matthias Church across the street which was especially beautiful at night. It's right in the heart of Castle Hill and about 30 yards from Buda Castle. It is also right at the round-a-bout and the bus going down the hill the heart of the city stops right out front. There are also several restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The room was very simple but clean (great for the price, and in line with the typical standard European hotel) and the staff was very polite and helpful. There is no elevator and the desk attendant had recently had shoulder surgery, so I had to drag my own suitcase up the stairs, but this was only a small inconvenience for me. There was a small refrigerator in the room which was not stocked, and there was no place in the hotel to get a soda or water, snack, etc. at night, so I made sure to bring something back with me each evening. The hotel offered a free buffet breakfast which was simple but enough for me. One inconvenience I recall is that my room only had one free electrical outlet, so charging my devices had to be done on a strict schedule which required me to get up during the night to switch them over. I would definitely stay there again.
This hotel has the best location in Budapest, just in the old castle town, beside saint Matia Cathedral, near of Buda castle, the building if old and very well preserved, the courtyard is border by the old city wall, staff is cooperative. Breakfast is good Wife in the reception
We spent a week of our Christmas vacation at the Burg Hotel up on the castle village Budapest. The location is perfect, you are at the center of the village and you only need walk out the hotel door to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Street parking is available for a fee, or there is the city bus which constantly passes through the village. The view of Budapest from the Fisherman Bastion (directly across the street from the Burg) is amazing. The hotel is well kept and provides a full breakfast. I would stay at the Burg again if the opportunity becomes available.
We stayed at the hotel only for two days but we were really pleased. The location is great, just across Matthias Church and the view is great. It is really affordable for such good location. We loved the breakfast too. Lots of alternatives and fresh products. The staff was friendly. Wifi could be a bit problematic but no big deal. If I come to Budapest agaib, this hotel will definitely where I will stay.
I stayed here with my friend and my daughter over New Years. Its location is fantastic which is why we chose. It has more of a guesthouse feel to it than a hotel. it is serious need of a refurbishment. That being said it is clean and warm and a good location and is fine for a short break . Breakfast is included although it was not great.
The hotel has one big advantage: location- it's close to the city's sights. The staff is quite nice and friendly. Whilst the hotel itself would really benefit from the proper refurbishment: the carpet and furniture must be changed (they old, look awful and carpet is stained), walls - repainted and decorated. There's a lot of work to be done. It's good if you stay one or two nights, but no more. There's also no lift, so if you have a heavy luggage, you have to carry out it upstairs yourself. The breakfast is ok, but not much choice, so I would suggest to add more fresh fruits and vegetables and something else (for example pancakes) for breakfast. Message to the manager/owner of the hotel: I'm begging you- please change those horrible door handles!
