Having just come back yesterday from this hotel I can safely say it was a pleasure to stay there. The price was outstanding for the location. We where so close to everything we could do have a day pop back to the room to have a comfort break for ten mins and go out again with it being on the way to the next stop. Not only that but the staff where so lovely and friendly. The owner I didn't catch his name was fantastic and friendly. He was always around. The garden was so gorgeous so lovely to sit out. The room although small had everything you needed. Fresh towels every day. The only real negative I would say would be that there was a bit of dust under the bed although would have not noticed if I hadn't had dropped something under it. In total I can safely say for the price you could not ask for anything better. Location. Feel. Friendliness. Layout. Comfort!
We stayed only one night in this cosy hotel, however it is so central located that you can reach any spot walking. The rooms are small and they do not have air condition, however the staff is very nice and the service is fine. I can recommend the hotel for short stays in any case.
I wanted this to be great stay, but room not standard expected. Please, tell cleaning staff to hoover and clear mess in bathroom of preveous guests. Tired bathroom, needs updating even if building is old. This budget hotel, not 3 star as advertised. I stayed better hostels all over Europe better than this, better rate to! I would have complain to proprietor but after check in, never saw again. Location is great, that's why I imagine so many postive reviews. A disapointing stay in a lovely town
We had a lovely view from our quaint top level room. Everything was tremendous about this little gem: location, staff, room, cleanliness, complementary hot chocolate. ..what more could one want? Waking up to a beautiful view of the Belfort and Cathedral was awesome. Highly recommend this hotel!
Loved our spacious room on first floor with doors opening out onto patio. Large bathroom and room has king size bed. We were greeted by friendly receptionist and able to check in early. Very great location in heart of the city. Enjoyed the free coffee in lobby. Highly recommend
We stayed for four nights and had a great stay. Very friendly service all round. Nice, clean room with amenities that you would expect for the price. Pleasant garden, free tea and coffee throughout the stay. Very good breakfast. Hotel well situated to walk to all of the attractions in Bruges, would recommend to others
We loved staying here it's in the centre of everything! We will from sure be back! The staff were so land back and friendly and made us feel so welcome. Our room was very spacious and the beds were so comfortable too
I have just returned from this hotel. Unfortunately, my stay was not what I expected - my room was more like university standard accommodation. The positives of the hotel are that it is in a great location, good internet connection, characterful building, decent price for Europe (at a cost). However, the negatives quickly outweigh this... Firstly, I arrived early in the morning, left my case at the hotel and was told that I could check-in at 3pm - which was absolutely fine, as that's their policy. The owner was very helpful in terms of where to eat and visit. I returned to the hotel at 2.30pm, rang the bell but no one came to reception. I returned just after 3pm, still, there was no one around, and at this point there were 4-5 other guests waiting to be checked in. They informed us they had been waiting for over 30 minutes and had continuously rung the bell. This was extremely poor, especially as my bag was left unattended - for hours - in reception, in plain view on the corridor (they should put them away - securely - in a lockable cupboard, or at least have a member of staff on duty. Inside my bag was my passport, Ipad, cash, etc. I left to explore again and when I did eventually get checked in, which was at 5pm, I was given a room on the top floor. However, I was then informed that the room had still not been cleaned yet! Apparently, the cleaners were running late-to say the least. I went up to the room and the very flustered cleaner had just started cleaning it, whilst I sat on the stairs and waited. This was totally unacceptable and I did raise this with the owner. He offered a complimentary breakfast, although I could not take this up as I had pre-booked early trains for day trips, which I told him, so this felt like an empty gesture and there was no offer of perhaps having breakfast earlier to accommodate me? When I finally entered the room, I noticed how dirty and grimy it was. There were smear marks all over the doors, walls and windows. The amount of grime around the window ledges was disgusting. The bathroom had dirty white tiles and had not been cleaned properly at all. The shower head had no holder so you had to stand in the shower and hold it above you to wash yourself. The shower hose was covered in black grime. Due to the position of the shower screen, you could not stand fully upright to contain the water, under the low celling. The towels were old and scratchy as well. The bedding, especially the pillows, were really old and dirty, actually I had to put a towel over it when I slept. I mentioned this to the owner, but he replied that it is expensive to renovate a hotel (!). The floor was hoovered quickly when I arrived, but not for the next 3 days. Another issue the room has it the temperature. However, the room gets very warm and during my stay this was the case. So to cool the room down, the windows had been left open by the cleaner. But this let in all the mosquitoes. So at night time I were incessantly bitten, and as I type this review, my arms, neck and feet are covered with red blotches. Putting an air conditioning unit into the room would make the room far more comfortable to sleep in. During my stay the room filled, daily, with the smell of sulphur. The smell was very overpowering and unpleasant. The owner said this was a problem with the drains in Bruges, however I never smelt this when I was on street level - or anywhere else in the city. I did raise all these issues with the owner but I was given excuse after excuse-about the cleaners, costs of refurbishing etc. I felt I was given this room as I was the last one to check in and they had no other alternative room to stay in. The condition of the room was completely unacceptable. It should not be given to guests in the condition it is currently in.
We loved staying there, central location couldn't be better, very close to everything including one of the best priced car parks we ever came across. Staff very friendly and nice, service was excellent. Room spacious, clean and functional, only remarks are the lack of towel hanging facilities in the otherwise spacious, modern and very nice bathroom. Room could have benefitted from privacy arrangements as being directly onto common outdoor area, this in itself being a plus of this hotel. I recommend it and will stay again if back to Bruges.
I just completed a 6-night stay at Hotel Het Gheestelic Hof in the heart of Bruges. A 15-room 3-star hotel with a spacious room, very comfortable bed, walk-in (no step) rain shower, and a lovely terrace with tables and chairs, a bird enclosure, and a cage for Chica, an 8-month-old S, American parrot that is loads of laughs. My room, at my request, was on the ground floor with a door that opened to the terrace, Breakfast included bacon and eggs, as well as various breads, fresh cut fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. Quite ample. The hotel is just a few yards from San Salvator Church and a few blocks to the heart of the city, Markt Square. No parking available, but I parked for about €8/day at the nearby t'sand underground garage. Parking at the more distant train station is cheaper.
