This is my third visit to this hotel and I think it’s a great hotel. Our room had been refurbished since last visit and it was a lovely modern light airy room with plenty of room. The mood lighting was a nice touch. Breakfast is typical continental with a good choice of hot and cold food. There is no bar here so it can seem a bit unsocial and we were part of a big group but there is a light comfy conservatory where you can sit and chill with your own wine if you wish and we did this one night after going into town as it was snowing and we didn’t want to stay out too late. Owners are lovely nothing g too much trouble.
We spent four nights in Brugge at the beginning of December. The hotel was located close to the center so we could go everywhere on foot. But our room was really tiny!!!! Even the bathroom was clean, the sink was clogged and also there was only one little shower gel for two people for 4 days!!!!!!! Even when we had finished it...they didn't replace it!!! So poor! The breakfast was good! I dont actually recommend this hotel to other travellers...except if there is no better choice!
I would have to disagree with some of the negative comments here. Having just come back from a weekend at the golden tree, I can say that I was plesently surprised at how good it was. The staff we met were always really helpful and friendly. I hadn't booked parking or a crib for the wee one but the lady on the front to desk went out her way to help. Moved us to a bigger room so the wee one had space to crawl which was nice. The room was very clean and modern. Sheets changed each day. Shower was nice and hot. Breakfast was really good. Plenty to choose from. Good location to. 10 min walk to the markt. Would recommend staying.
Where do I start: 1. No manned reception desk after 8pm 2. When you do get in, you have no idea how to find your room because there are no signs to indicate which numbers are where and when there is a sign, it doesn't match the numbers of the rooms. 3. We specifically requested adjoining rooms but were given rooms at opposite ends of the hotel. 4. The "deluxe room" are tiny! 5. The beds are uncomfortable 6. Your neighbours door is so close that when they open their door, it sounds like they are going to be coming into your room. 7. Colour light in bathroom - why?? Spend the money on signs for room numbers! 8. No in room coffee making facilities. You have to buy a coffee from their machine. 9. One part of the hotel has no lift. The other part does....but there is no sign to tell you where it is. My husband spent 15 mins lugging suitcases around the hotel while we tried to find out rooms. Would I recommend - no!
I had booked via net as most people do now and therefore didn't quite know what I was booking, when we arrived they had allocated the small cottage on the corner by the road, must admit didn't look like what I remembered from net, so queried and told only room available, so no chance to change. I think they called this the lovers room , could easily be called the claustrophobic room. First problem is cars parking in front of staircase on outside, when you get to top of stairs door opens outwards, so difficult to actually enter with a case. Then inside its like a big bunk bed, but seats up top instead of another bed, double bed below. The large wooden staircase takes up far too much space. Staircase down to bathroom with large corner bath. Shower attachment has been replaced but doesn't fit on hook on wall properly, colour changing lights are interesting, but not sure enough to make it romantic. Then there is quite a lot of car noise as beside main road. Breakfast is in main hotel and was really good and it is straight stroll into town or to a city gate, if you want to walk the route of the walls. So I can't recommend this room, but it has the potential to be something special if you got the right designer in and got rid of the dark wood and opened it up more.I think the popularity of the hotel revolves around the car park. There is very little parking in Bruge, so your choice is fairly limited if you have a car. The Eurostar is easier. In my opinion if we go back I would find somewhere more central, there was plenty of choice when we walked around
Hotel was clean and in a great location. Unfortunately, there was no heat in the bathroom and although we reported it, it was never fixed. The shower was very poor and just dribbled out meaning it was not a pleasent shower experience. There was no lounge or bar area and therefore nowhere to sit. Also no coffee or tea facilities in the room, so other than at breakfast drinks were out of a machine. However, the continental breakfast was good.
Came here at the beginning of October for a 3 night stay, walked from the train station took about 15mins max. Friendly greeting at reception etc. This hotel is in a great location for exploring the old city, because it's near enough to walk to the major sights, but not on the tourist trail. The room was adequately furnished, a nice size of bathroom with plenty of hot water at all times. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in any rooms as per previous review. The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choices, which were replenished at regular intervals, there was a pancake machine and another for making boiled eggs. We had a room at the front, we noticed a bit of traffic noise from the main road, but this did not spoil our time here. There is also no bar, they have a vending machine in an enclosed courtyard area, not to our liking. So would recommend going to La Fuenta(not on tripadvisor)bar just up the road which is what we did for two of the nights. Would come here again if I was visiting Brugge
It is a decent hotel, but their customer service is appalling. We booked it through Booking.com and arrived there at 3pm. Having left bags we went to see the beautiful city of Bruges and came back to the room at 9ish. We quickly discovered heating didn't work. Tried to contact the reception but it to no avail. Finally got hold of some "emergency" contact who could not really speak any English and after communicating with him got "no, can't do anything" response. We asked for the heater to be fixed - no. For a new room - no. For extra blanket, as it was getting cold in the room - NO. They could not give us simple extra blankets! Then, demanded to talk to the hotel owner - NO! Called that contact again and demanded to talk to the manager - got another NO. Contacted Booking, who somehow managed to convince the owner to get involved into the situation - however THEY HAD NOT CONTACTED US and we had to go to bed clothes on. In the morning the lady at the reception informed us the owner did go out but hesitated whether to knock the door of our room - I wish he had as then we would have at least got blankets. Customer service - what a joke!
I stayed here with my fiancé for one night on the way to Germany. Bruges is a lovely place, and Golden Tree is a great option as it's in a very central location, and has a car park which is quite secure (we were in a classic car). The staff are super friendly, and, although we were near the main road in our room, it was quiet. We were in the Romance Room, which does need a refit in the room bit. The bathroom is quite nice. It was quite hot though, as it was summer, and the moveable air con had a tube that pumped the hot air out...into the room! To use it, we had to keep the door open and stick the tube out. Really not worth even having it. Overall, this is an affordable option for Bruges, and I would stay again, but maybe in a different room.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and found it to be very convenient for walking into the old city. Breakfast was the usual buffet style and perfectly acceptable and the room was quite comfortable and clean. All that was lacking was tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Impressive faded granduere in the reception and dining areas.
