The hotel is easy to find as it is on the main A45. The car park is next to the hotel and you have to go through a gate. The check-in was simple. You have to use your card to get through the door to the lift and stairs. My room was on the second floor, it had a big double bed and small desk. The wifi was easy to connect to after you have entered an email address, it was fine for simple internet browsing. The room was dark and quiet at night which gave a good nights sleep. The breakfast area was a good size, it was the normal Holiday Inn Express breakfast choices. The check-out was quick and it was a sensible price.

I have stayed at this hotel many tims in the past few years and have always left favourable reviews, until now. When we arrived we were unexpectadely informed that full paymant had not been taken when the weekend break was organised in September 2017 (unlike previous instances). We were notified that the central IHG reservation centre take card details to reserve the room only but a payment of £94 per couple for the two nights was quoted at this time. The next day we asked whether we could pay for our break and the transaction was duly completed. This morning (the 3rd of December) whilst checking out we were informed that an additional charge was required (payment was taken for one night only the previous day) and that the total bill was higher than IHG reservations originally quoted. If we had not sufficient funds to cover this eventuality it couldhave been disconcerting. This lack of consistency and communication is unexceptable and left a bitter after taste. PLEASE ensure that you are fully aware of the full cost prior to booking a break with this firm! Aside from this unfortunate episode the hotel does still offer comfortable (and spotless) accommodation but pray that your visit does not coincide with the frequent group bokings that are sometimes present as they swamp the breakfast area (limited seating) in the mornings (normally beofore 10am). Our room was too hot (unable to adjust the temperature, fixed at 26C) so a restive night was experienced. We will now swich allegiance to the more reliable Hilton brand when visiting the Birmingham area. Such a shame! The staff do still remain affable, just let down by reservations!

The tour was for 2 nights but we arrived a day late so just stayed 1 night. On arrival there was no food available until 6pm and closed down around 9.30. Nothing at all available. Bar closed also but the receptionist found a key and gave out a bottle of wine. No price available. Paid later! Take away menus provided and we sent out for a chinese meal. Breakfast was not so great and the toaster was broken. The tour bus was blocked in by another resident but reception didn't know what room he was in! Taxis were ordered to take us to the show which was included in the deal. Not much effort made to find the driver of the van! It was also blocking a fire exit!! Won't be rushing back!!

We had pre booked 4 rooms over one month in advance as we had a wedding the next day. Four room with a double bed and a sofa bed in each were booked. Upon arrival we were told that only two rooms had the space for sofa beds and the other two would only have a double bed in. Eventhough the email confirmation clearly stated otherwise. There were 12 of us. Mistakes happen so it was understandable however we were repeatedly told "we're fully booked we're fully booked there's no other rooms available". No other solutions were given from the staff member who made it feel like it was our fault this had happened. Eventually someone suggested that we have a small removal bed put into the room, which being our only option we agreed to. While taking our luggage to the various rooms we'd been assigned to after a minimum of 30 mins not knowing where some of us would stay, we were rudely summoned by a staff member who said "oh we've found an extra room with a sofa bed". The same lady who claimed there were no other rooms available earlier. After we had settled into our rooms, we found that the sofa beds had no duvet and pillow covers which we called down to reception for. No answer. So we had to go down to reception where we were greeted with a very rude and unhelpful staff member who again made us feel as if it was our fault these hadn't been provided. Wouldn't stay here again. I understand admin mistakes happen but the staff did not want to fix them and were very rude and unhelpful.

Never had any issues with any holiday inn or holiday inn express that I have stayed at for work or pleasure. However my stay at this one didn't get of to a great start. I arrived at the hotel at 2:45pm and I'm aware check in is not until 3pm but all other holiday inn express in and around Birmingham ( I think I've now stayed at them all) have been more than happy to check if room is ready and allowed me to check in early. On one occasion it was 3 hours early as my meeting had been cancelled that day. However when I politely asked the man on reception he was rude and obnoxious indicating in no uncertain terms could I check in early. Now I don't have an issue with having to wait until 3pm as that's the official time and any earlier is a goodwill gesture however I do have an issue with how I was spoken to. After taking a seat in reception I then heard the same staff member take 2 phone calls and was equally as rude to whoever he was speaking to and I also heard him speaking to a young female member of staff in the same way. Not a good first impression of the hotel at all. Other than this my room was great. I slept well and enjoyed my breakfast. I did have an incident where a man walked in my room then quickly walked out. When I went to check who he was he said he was checking the Wi-Fi. Unfortunately he didn't knock first to check if anyone was in and I'm just glad I wasn't in the process of getting changed!

Lovely, comfortable room. However, evening meal was distinctly average. Chicken and chips? If it had t said chicken I could not tell. Dried cardboard. No taste at all. Thank God for mayonnaise., really need to up their game on the food front. Lovely staff though.

A good standard hotel with very nice décor and comfy bed and excellent shower. Parking available, free wi-fi and bar area and good breakfast. 7 floors but one lift. Not a great deal to do immediately local, but not that far from city centre

I stayed here for 3 nights whilst on business nearby and found it a really nice, relaxing hotel. The real positive here is the staff who were all absolutely superb from me checking in, eating in the bar every night and then checking back out (especially a lady called Lin who worked on reception and was one of the nicest, most pleasant staff I have ever come across and I stay in hotels most weeks!) On arrival there was plenty of room in the car park and it was easily accessible from the main road, albeit an extremely busy main road! The evening meal menu was limited however all of the food I had over the 3 nights was very good and a real bonus compared to other similar hotels I have used was the free breakfast which comes with the room. There was enough choice for breakfast also with a range of Kellogg's Cereals, a selection of hot food plus yogurts, compotes, pastries, coffees and cold drinks ( there was also specialities you could order like vegetarian and gluten free products) The only slight negatives were there was quite an unsightly stain on the bedroom wall (room 514) and it is probably the coldest hotel I have ever stayed in with both the bar area and bedrooms very cold despite having the heating turned up to full. All that said, however, I would definitely stay here again as the food and especially the staff make it a great place to stay.

Had a 2-night stay over the weekend. Location was very good, easily accessed just off the main road. Need to pay for long-stay parking but for drop off, its free. Check-in was a breeze. Rooms were clean and comfy. Complementary breakfast were nice.

Elegant and proffesional at a very good price. The family room was a little tight and the sofa bed could have been better but saying that the room, the main bed, the bathroom, the staff were all the areas that made this trip worth while. Over all an excellent choice if you are needing to stay on that side of town. Breakfast could be better.
