We booked this hotel via bintangetaway.com for my friend's birthday last February. It was an overnight stay from February 21-22. Everything you see in the photo is exactly the same it is in personal. You won't get disappointed at all. We came from Singapore via ferry that took more than an hour. After that, we passed through immigration & met by The Canopi staff immediately. What I love about it is that, The Canopi guests have a special lane in immigration thus you don't need to queue for so long. Definitely a good start for us. The Canopi is about 5-10 minutes away from the ferry! Very convenient! From ferry, we took a bus (included already) to get to the resort. We came in quite early, around 11am so we had to wait quite long for the room which is acceptable as check in time is 3 pm. IMPORTANT: Indonesia is 1 hr behind Singapore. Thus, instead of waiting for 4 hours, we waited for 5 hours long! LOL Upon check in, everything went well. The staff from the bellman to front desk counter were all courteous and polite. We were also given welcome drink upon arrival. One convenient thing I'd like to highlight is that, they do have whatsapp number that updates you for anything & everything, and you can call to for any assistance 24/7. Really really great. Oh & btw, their wifi is pretty decent/fast despite being a huge outdoor resort. When we got our room, since upon check in, I told the Front Desk staff that we are celebrating my friend's birthday, the room was set up with birthday greetings which we all appreciated! Thank you for all the staff that took effort for it! :) Just a tip: The restaurant/bar near the reception is quite expensive. The hotel has another hidden restaurant which you have to take buggy to get to, which offer cheaper food. And super duper yummy too!!! Breakfast restaurant is pretty nice to. It has a little playground your kid can play too while having breakfast! The man-made lagoon (Pool) is indeed amazing! Biggest once I have seen. Everyone who saw my photos online were confused if it is a beach or pool! Great great ambience and feel. A lot of water sports too!! Will definitely come back here! and strongly recommend to my friends!
I am writing this with the intention of expressing my utmost gratitude and appreciation for the amazing service extended to us during our short stay there at your resort. My family of 4 was under your care from the 16th of February to the 18th for a short getaway during the long Chinese New Year weekend. There, the services provided to us was nothing short of extraordinary. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a glass of orange juice and swift check-in services that were well-explained. The resort itself was beautiful, from the clear blue water to the canopies that housed us during our stay. What really amazed me was the availability of several services such as ferry bookings, transport to the nearby shopping mall and the kelong dinner that can be easily arranged, thus making one’s stay very comfortable and easy to manage. Buggy rides around the resort, buses and taxis were prompt and ready upon request. However, the thing that stood out most was the personable and friendly staff members that were not only ready to listen to our demands, but also ensured that we were always greeted with a warm smile. On the buggy rides or simply at the lobby, staff members were ready to strike a conversation that really made us feel warm and welcome. We were especially touched by the services of bellboys Pak Agus and Pak Anggar who were very friendly and easy to interact with. However, their service really shone when we were met with an accident during the second day of our stay. My younger sister sprained her ankle while jumping on the trampoline, thus causing inability to walk. We were promptly received with a buggy from the site of the accident, then given an ice pack to manage the swelling. We then called the front office to arrange transport to the clinic, but the news somehow already spread quickly, and the front office had already prepared a buggy to the lobby and a taxi to the nearby clinic. The entire process was quick and smooth, with Pak Agus ensuring not only our safety, but our comfort together with speed as time may aggravate an unattended injury. Pak Agus then waited with us at the clinic, and on initiative, arranged a wheelchair at the lobby before sending us back to the resort. He continuously asked if he could arrange anything else for us, anticipating our needs well and making himself very reliable. Shortly after we were settled in our room, Pak Ardi, supervisor of sea sports, arrived to enquire on the details of the accident while offering us his sincere apologies. We knew that he was stressed and tired as another accident occurred shortly before ours, yet he still kept a friendly disposition and made us all laugh with his humour while doing his job of knowing what happened. Unknowingly, he really lightened the mood of such misfortune and made us feel more relaxed. He then readily accepted our feedback of having supervision at the trampolines and bouncy castle, understanding and responsibly accepting that it was the fault of the hotel, and assuring action will be taken. Ibu Lisa was also understanding and ensured that we were able to take the earliest available ferry back the following day, as we were not due to return till two days later. Working in the hotel industry, I personally understand the difficulty in managing accidents in the hotel, considering the disruption to everyday routines and processes, together with the hassle that it may bring. However, these were managed extremely well by the hotel staff, who really lightened the burden of the accident and made us feel well taken care of. We felt that the hotel staff were very reliable, and anticipate our needs well. It was truly an ‘above and beyond’ service that left a memorable mark on us, and we are sure to return in the future. To Pak Agus, Pak Anggar, Pak Ardi, Ibu Lisa and all the staff at Canopi, we would like to extend a huge thank you, and apologise for all the trouble we may have brought about. Please keep up the good service you provide, and we hope to see you soon.
The resort is well located near the ferry terminal. Just 5min ride away. Upon reaching you will be greeted by the beautiful blue lagoon where most activities will be conducted. The tents are spacious and comfortable. We booked the lagoon view tent and have no regrets. Open the door and we are right at the 'beach' of the lagoon. Its so convenient. The outdoor toilet is nice but still provide adequate privacy. The only glitch we had was the faulty toilet bowl which got stucked twice and water overflowing out of the cistern. Activities are plenty. Water activities and land activities suitable for all ages. My kids love all activities as well as the lagoon. Restaurant Patio serves nice breakfast and evening snacks. I would have eaten all my meals in the restaurant had I not know the meal outside at Kelong charges so expensive for simple meals and with low quality and taste. Want BBQ? no problem. Order from the restaurant and they setup for you right outside your tent. You jsut need to cook and eat. Great for bonding. The service is good. They will accede to your request as lo g as they are reasonable, and will even get your return boarding pass ready upon checking out and go home. Will return for future stay.
We loved the place so much when we went there in December (few days before Christmas) that we came back for a 2nd round in March. Overall, we like the place. The staff are friendly. Cheap food can be found at a nearby hawker centre (a staff will bring you there with extra charges, only RP100 000 (abt S$10). At the activity centre, there are 4 stalls selling night market food (Ramly burger, fried mushroom, salted egg prawns, fried rice, etc). All 4 stalls are opened during weekends but only 2 are opened during weekedays. Food at the 2 restaurants at the resort is expensive but taste wise, they are not bad. You can also opt to eat seafood at a Kelong. You can also rent a scooter during your stay. We took the ATV jungle ride and it was so fun! Firefly night activity was also good! During our 2nd time stay, we got to launch our own fireworks! The view was spectacular! If possible, get the Lagoon View Tents as these tents are just facing the Crystal Blue Lagoon. I assume these tents facing the lagoon are hot favourites so book early to avoid disappointment. P.S: 1) Don't forget to bring mosquito patch which you may want to paste a patch or 2 near your sleeping area. 2) Bring sunblock as it get really hot during the day. Area for Improvement for the resort: 1) can have team building for guests 2) the area for showering (in the bathroom) during our 2nd stay was not cleaned properly as we could see green moulds on the floor tiles. 3) the Qiblat ( prayer direction which is in the drawer) can be moved, we could get our praying direction wrong because of that. so please make sure the Qiblat direction is secured properly in the drawers) Overall, it's a great place for everyone to do activities or just laze around.
I echo the comments of the previous reviewers.... there’s no response from the reservations desk. Both my friends and I sent emails but there’s no response for weeks. The hotel experience starts from the reservation desk and it’s just unfortunate that The Canopi misses its mark on this.
Great accommodation, great bbq outside out tent, set up and cleared with the minimum of fuss and very friendly staff, the spa treatments were great and we wished we were there longer. The mangrove tour was great.
I would have given it a 5 star rating if it weren't for the following reasons below: 1. Property needs to work their reservations email. I have booked my overnight stay Feb. 20 and been constantly emailing the email@example.com arranging land transfer from ferry terminal to the property. Emails take so long to be responded. When they reply, it will be next day or maybe none. As my reservation was fast approaching, I have followed up few times and never received any confirmation until the day of my check in. I have left a question here in TripAdvisor, left a message in your FB Messanger but no one responded. It was frustrating, so I did not let it get to my nerves and to spoil my stay. Upon my arrival at the ferry terminal, luckily the people from Bintan Lagoon Terminal was able to assist with my transfer. On my check in day, I was able to speak to the manager Novi, and informed her of my frustration. As I also work in the same industry, I know the importance of customer relations especially the first base which is the inquiries. Novi knows that this is one aspect that needs to be improved. Hopefully in the future. So we were able to sort things out. We arrived early so our room was not ready, so we had brunch at the restaurant first and admire the place. 2. Food in the restaurant are abit pricy for its taste and look AND we had a "friend" on our food. Things were settled as the Manager of the restaurant spoke to us and I do not want this to further spoil the stay again. 3. Paid for 4 pax but need to follow up the extra beddings. (not much of a major issue) 4. I was not able to book a massage as they were so busy as there was a group who came in. sad. Perhaps next visit. 5. Pillow was either too high or too hard for me which gave me a headache in the morning. Overall, we still enjoyed the stay as the tent was very nice, clean and relaxing. Overviewing the crystal cove, jacuzzi infront of the tent.Though the crystal cove can have more lights as it's abit creepy to swim when it's dark. More lights or brighter light also infront of the tent. Breakfast was fine though I always look for bacon, sadly the bacon was disappointing, but not of a major issue. I enjoyed my omelet and unlimited coffee. Concierge staff to be commended for their attentiveness. Reception was also okay. Despite of the problems I encountered I would still go back. As we all have room for improvements and we have not tried any of the activity as we are glued in the tent. See you again!
This place is beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. By the second day most of the servers and workers knew us by name. Very affordable and the activities were a great bonus. We did the firefly tour, the ATV ride and enjoyed the in room massages. The bbq just outside our canopy set our trip over the top! They set it up and came back to take everything back. Perfect wind down!
The resort is quite well maintained, the staff are very friendly and there are a lot of activities including an indoor playground for the kids, at least our 3 years old enjoyed it very much. My husband and I enjoyed the stay and would consider going back again. Except for there are many flying insects in the washroom of our room not sure is it bcos it is open concept or the plants in the washroom and also the little food choices (for kids) in the resort, we do not have much complaints with The Canopi. Anyway, we also hope that there will be a package price for all water sport activities included at The Treasury Bay as the ala carte prices are not really worth in my opinion.
I was a bit worried at first because of some of the bad reviews I read. I would think Canopi is more suitable for families with children because of the activities and facilities. We stayed in glamping deluxe tent and though it wasn't spotless clean and new, it was neat and tidy enough for my family of 4 with 2 young kids. It was disappointing that the jacuzzi wasn't fully working but luckily my kids still love playing in it so it didn't matter much. what I love about the place is the friendly and helpful staff who are always smiling and talking to the kids. The place is not crowded (maybe cause it's second week of CNY) so most of the time we had a place (restaurant, playground, activity area) to ourselves which is really great.
