Stayed for a couple of nights at the hotel whilst visiting Beijing on business. Staff were very friendly and the room in a very good condition. Enjoyed the fact that it's reasonably close to amenities, especially some business offices. The breakfast buffet selection was very good and will considering staying on my next visit to Beijing.
A good friend took me to dinner here! The duck was excellent and the place had a lovely Chinese garden below. Can imagine that it would be nice to have stayed here at least for a night and enjoy their breakfast as well.
After several years not using this hotel in Beijing due to stolen bag from housekeeping I decided to return. Service is greate, good location, clean and good room. Breakfast in the lounge could be improved. I have had dinner at Grange grill. High price, avarage steak but poor service. Glass of wine min.102 RMB. Min steak price 550 RMB. No problem if price is balance with quality. Will return to hotel no done any more.
The hotel is in a great location and the room although a little old, still stood up to the test of time and had many modern amenities in it, and it even has a massage chair in it. I find the room a little dim, but other than that, pretty nice for a business hotel.
This hotel has great and seemingly genuine warm service. The front desk staff was extremely polite and courteous, but I want to really point out the excellent managers at the buffet. I remember the female manager's name is Mancy, but I am so sorry to say I can't remember the male manager's name. He is a young Chinese man, who, every morning, greeted us and remembered what we liked and made sure we got them. Mancy also asked us what we thought they could improve on, and the very next morning, she made the change for us. We could not feel more pampered! We had a studio room, which is quite large and comfortable. This large corner room had spectacular ceiling to floor windows that offered great view. They are right to be calling their beds the "heavenly bed", it really is heavenly, so much so I am considering purchasing one when I buy a new bed next time. Everything else was up to par with the Westin brand, if not better. I think they definitely strive to have better service than American locations. So why only 4 stars? 1) The shower heads had many problems, we couldn't get the rain shower to work, the switch won't hold, and the water pressure was very weak. There are also broken tiles in the shower, and if you looked up to the ceiling, there's a space behind the shower that's kind of hidden that had spots of mold. 2) the Executive club lounge was the only place I found the service to be lacking. Many times I walked in and there was nothing left to eat. I couldn't see where the drinks are and all the ladies in there wasn't interested in helping. I felt like I walked into a large room filled with furniture and nothing else. All in all I would stay here again. The warm and personal service from the restaurant, front desk, and concierge staff is something you just can't get anywhere else.
I have spent a lot of time in Beijing over the last decade and stayed in a number of properties. The Westin Chaoyang really has the best location for seeing the sights of the city. To begin, the Line 10 Liangmaqiao subway stop is literally in front of the hotel. That means you can make the trip from the airport (via Airport Express train) in a mere 25 minutes. Want to go to Sanliturn or the Forbidden City? Both can be walking distance. And of course, Chaoyang is in the heart of the city, just a few subway stops from the CBD. For longer stays I prefer the Westin Financial Street Executive Residence, with its serviced apartments. But for short to medium stays this property has all the amenities. Try to secure a corner studio room -- I like them even better than a suite for their wrap-around views. The SPG lounge is also excellent. Finally, the staff is always friendly and accommodating. A special shout out goes to Deborah Ma, who has helped me secure the right room several times. There are numerous hotels in this area, but you can't go wrong with the Westin Chaoyang, one of the best hotels in Beijing.
I've been to many two-star hotels that were better managed than the Westin Beijing. 1) I arrive, and they keep me waiting an hour because they misspelled my name on the registration. 2) I ask for a quiet room, and they put me on the 11th floor right next a freeway. So loud the room rumbles. 3) I got to the bathroom, and the Kleenex box is empty. 4) I go to take a shower, and the water goes from extremely hot to extremely cold because the faucet is broken. 5) I go to bed, and the closet door won't shut, so a light from the closet shines on my face all night. I had to put a pillow over my head to block it out. Does this sound like a 5 star hotel? Or 4 stars? Or even 3 stars? Just to put this in perspective, my room was a suite that cost over $400 per night. Crazy bad management! I will never stay at another Westin again.
Depending on where you are headed in Beijing this hotel has great rooms. The tile that they have for all of the rooms has wonderful fossil shells in it (I want to find out where they obtained this title and get some for my bathroom). The rooms are wonderful, and it is very entertaining to watch the person that is constantly cleaning the floor in the entry way as the floor is black and they are constantly trying to keep foot prints off of it. I was here for my birthday and the staff even got me a cake!!!!
Both me and my wife have not been to Beijing before and have decided to stay for a few nights at The Westin Beijing Chaoyang as it was highly recommended by one of our colleague. And it was the best decision we've ever made! Upon knowing that we were on our anniversary trip, the staffs have nicely decorated our room and extended us such a warm welcome upon arrival. The room was excellent and well furnished with everything a traveler might ever need. Strategic location with easy access to shopping and eating outlets. The subway station is also nearby for adventurous travelers who would like to explore the big city. The big plus is of course the staffs. Every staff members we've met were very pleasant and friendly. Special thanks to Alice and Leo who have been looking after us very well and also assisted us with some minor challenges in dealing with a local tele-communication company upon our departure. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will not hesitate to recommend the hotel to all our friends and family. Thumb up!
I lived in Beijing when this hotel opened in 2007/8 and have stayed there many times. Other then the lower level rooms that suffer from traffic noise, this hotel is outstanding. The rooms are big and beautiful. The lobby is outstanding and spacious. The location is convenient to much of the city. Service is very good and the metro is very accessible.
